Rustic spot right in the middle of possibly the most chic neighborhood in all of Amsterdam. You're immediately swooned by the brown paint peeling off the walls and the ceilings. They're huge with lots of tables for big and small groups, although, my favorite spots remains at the bar.
They're quite casual in that they open only for a shift of 8 hours everyday, except the weekends, when they're open a couple hours longer.
The food menu is nice. The coffee is decent, and so are the prices. There are lots of beers on tap if you're into intoxicating yourself.
They also get a lot of expats. I always run into a group playing board games or just casually chatting about their work lives.
Why 3 stars? The bartender (the only customer facing staff member) usually seems quite unoccupied. Customer service and hospitality is a misnomer. The last time there was this crazy lady who kept kicking the stools at the bar. Upon enquiring, we were told that she's 'fine'. What?! Get her a beer or something!
A good place for an evening coffee or tea, perhaps a light dinner. I wish they also opened in the mornings. read more
