It's been a while since I've ate here. Everytime I come it's been enjoyable, I just don't frequent Paia often. Yes, it's a hippie (sometimes smelly) tourist town lol but there are some gems worth checking out. Cafe Des Amis is one of those places worth going to Paia for. The girls are chill and friendly, the food is delicious and the ambiance is relaxing and comfortable. We went for a girl's brunch and really enjoyed our meal. The beef and mushroom curry was so good...flavorful with the perfect amount of heat. The habanero chutney just took it over the top. We even slathered it over the crepe. They need to bottle that stuff! Anyway, if you're in town cruising around and get hungry, this is a nice spot to stop! read more

Food was absolutely disgusting!! How the hell do they call this place indian food, this is the worst food I ever had. Maybe their crepes are good but the Indian food was garbage!! The hummus was overpowering with all the spices they put on it, barely could taste the hummus. The chicken in the chicken tikka masala was am just awful the curry was so gross. The store bought ones are actually more decent. The bread is not your actual Indian naan it's the Mediterranean kind so I don't know. Look at the pics for yourself, horrible food. Okay service. We are long time residents and it's just simply one of our favorite places to go for afternoon coffee and a crepe after windsurfing at Ho'okipa, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Everything is made with quality and wholesome ingredients. It's the real deal. It's simple goodness. The menu is creative and interesting. This restaurant emulates the feel and vibe of Pa'ia town. They haven't sold out to be an overpriced corporate, fancy Nancy, cosmopolitan, uptight, forget-about-the-locals type restaurant. If you are obnoxious, high strung, insist on air conditioning and generally hard to please, this isn't the place for you. The servers are chill, pleasant, accommodating and look like they got a good surf session in right before work:) Everything, and I mean everything on the menu is delicious, flavorful and plentiful. The price point leaves you feeling like the good ol days; a quality product for a fair price. I always leave a note on our receipt letting the server know that once again, they knocked it out of the park. Love, love, love this place. Outer island getaway and dropped in for a spur of the moment breakfast stop before heading to Hana. It's a cute little place and the cross winds made it very nice to sit in comfort. There is outdoor seating as well and it's a very casual and comfortable spot! I started out ordering the latte. A little disappointed that it took so long to come out and it was very blonde but I still enjoyed it. For my meal I ordered the scrambled eggs, tomato, and aged cheddar crepe. It comes with a side salad and a dollop of sour cream. The aged cheddar made the crepe a winner! It was so tasty and the salad added some acidity which was a great complement to the cheddar. The boyfriend ordered the breakfast quesadilla. He offered me a taste and it was very flavorful! I'm so glad we decided to stop in and give them a try. We wanted to eat something different and also we were not very hungry so we went to this place as every time we were passing by it was full. We ordered two salty crepes: "tomato, mozzarella and pesto" an "chicken, avocado and mozzarella" without chicken and extra avocado. Everything was good. But nothing I would specifically crave or come back for though. The service was excellent, I wanted a vegetarian option for one of the dishes and the waitress helped me choose another ingredient without any problems. We were standing infront of the cashier for around 5 minutes until someone finally saw us and told us that we can sit down and there will be a full waiter service. They sound nice but it seems like they don't have patience around customers' questions. Food: The food was okay. I ordered the Strawberry and Cream crepe and I asked them to put nutella. It was an extra 0.50 charge. I don't think the extra charge was necessary. The strawberries were sour and I think they use frozen strawberries because it was really soggy. The whole crepe was soggy compared to my friend's one who ordered banana and nutella. The iced latte that I ordered was alright. They don't have flavored lattes but it was a 7/10 for me as a coffee lover. My friends ordered both the iced and hot mocha coffee which was really good. I ordered the ham and cheese crepe with a side of cucumber raita that never came. The server was new and was not knowledgeable about the menu and did not know how to pronounce some of the items. The crepe was mediocre and needed an additional ingredient or sauce. My boyfriend ordered the chicken curry which he enjoyed. My husband and I go to Maui every 1-2 years and recently tried this restaurant for the first time. We loved it so much we went back just 3 days later! Sorry this review is late! I used to come to Cafe Des Amis a lot in the past and this was the first time I've eaten there in at least 3 years. The Maui beef wrap was literally stuffed with beef with a bit of mushroom and rice here and there. If you're a beef lover than that is definitely for you. The chicken avocado crepe was delicious. The chicken was spread pretty well throughout he crepe but the avocado slices were mostly to one side and the 1 tomato slice they put was small and stuffed in the back end of the crepe. It was good for me because I don't really like tomatoes, but it's a flaw if you love em lol. I would come back again when I'm having a crepe craving. It's been a long time since I've been to this spot. Last night (Dec. 6) we checked in around 6:30pm. It was slammed but luckily it was for 2 so our wait wasn't too long. We both ordered shrimp curry with rice around 6:40pm. Time is going by and around 7:30pm, we still don't have our food. Our server comes by telling us they ran out of rice. WTF! She said, it'll only be 10 more minutes. The food didn't come out until 7:45pm. Our server didn't offer anything complimentary such as a dessert or knock the price down for waiting the way we did. We tried the curry wrap with veggies, mango chutney and cucumber raita, Italian lentil, pesto crepe, filter coffee and Americano. First of all, the curry wrap didn't taste like indian food. The rice filling wasn't that bad but it lacked spices and salt; it was very bland. Same goes for mango chutney and cucumber raita( it was just yogurt mixed with cucumber: no taste at all). Cafe Des Amis is a nice cafe with Mediterranean and Indian food and crepes. There are many options for vegetarians and carnivores alike. I was able to enjoy the vegetarian Mediterranean appetizer for 2. The pita comes out hot. The hummus is some of the best I've had in a long time. It has a nice variety on the plate. It's enough for a meal if you order it by yourself (which I did not -- I fortunately was able to split it with others). For lunch, I had the mozarella, tomato, basil, and parmesan crepe. I was very pleased with the results. I hadn't had a savory crepe before (only sweet ones in Europe). The crepe complemented the flavors without being too much, like many times a panini or other form of sandwich can be. It was warm throughout, and it came with a salad. I got the basalmic vinaigrette. It was a delicious! With a hearty tomato broth with potatoes, carrots and onions. It also has huge king prawn! The aioli was delicious and the bread was great to dip in the broth! Would have liked to try the chicken curry wrap, maybe next time! When I saw that they had what they called Indian curries I was sceptical, why would a place called cafe des amis have Indian curries! Really lovely little find in Pa'ia just up the street from the majority of shops is this unassuming little restaurant. Looks like a coffee shop, but offers full table service both inside as well as in a great courtyard out back. Food was delicious, from the hummus platter to the appetizer / salami tray to the crepes (we had nutella and goat cheese & spinach. We also had the chicken curry wrap which was amazing. Each done so differently and really well. The ahi cru was also nice, but more forgettable. Come in, relax in the amazing service and cool ambiance, visit the gift shop next door. Best restaurant in Paia town hands down. Parking can be hard during busy hours but it's worth the walk. It's a cute cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. I highly recommend the Mediterranean Platter (if it's just you, you can get it for 1). I also love the shrimp curry wrap for lunch. Aaannndddd you must must must get the Nutella crepe with CREAM. They make a delicious home made whip cream that is amazing. Honestly those are the only 3 items I have tried there... the past 7 years+!
