We had high hopes for this place based on the concept and, potentially, yummy ingredients. We were sorely disappointed. All of the salad greens were questionable and just barely edible. They had 2 vats of browning romaine lettuce that should have been changed out entirely. The arugula was completely stale, old and yellowed and I had to pick out every leaf. The kale was bitter, bone dry and too large to eat without hand cutting every leaf. I received about 2 tablespoons of chicken for my protein and all other toppings were equally minuscule. My husband had an ahi melt that was sub par but edible. Honestly, it must have been 90+degrees inside the shop and the 2 girls working there seemed absolutely miserable. And of course extremely disinterested in preparing our food. There are so many good restaurants in Kihei, this one was a hard pass for us. read more

What a nice surprise! Hidden in a strip mall in Kihei is Fork & Salad, a counter service salad, soup and sandwich restaurant. There is a "make your own" option for salad as well as signature choices and there are numerous sandwich options as well. We had the Maui Goddess Salad with chicken, the Chinese Chicken Salad, and the Ahi sandwich. We all loved our choices! The greens were super fresh and crunchy, all ingredients were fresh, and the chicken in the salad was moist and tasty. There was a nice outside picnic table area that was set aside from the parking lot. Never had an issue but today I witnessed a concerning dispute. I went in this afternoon around 4:30 PM. There was a younger woman working by herself who seemed overwhelmed and in need of assistance. Shortly after, someone I assume was a manager (a larger African American man in a black shirt) came out, and when she returned, I could hear him yelling at her from the back. It was clear she was upset, and I overheard her trying to explain that she was simply trying to express her frustrations with the lack of help. Despite that, he continued to raise his voice and use inappropriate language. It was uncomfortable to witness and disappointing to see an employee treated that way. She maintained a positive attitude and continued to help customers professionally. Great spot for a fresh meal! We can for lunch after a morning at the beach. Service is friendly, and the food options are great. I wish I had a larger stomach to try all of the things. I ordered the Maui goddess salad and my husband got the Chinese chicken salad. My Maui goddess was delicious! They have great portion sizes for the price. The goddess dressing was perfect and I really liked the combination of toppings I wouldn't normally put together-purple potato, green apple, golden raisins, strawberry, cashews, blue cheese on romaine lettuce. It worked really well! The free sourdough slice was tasty as well. We ordered takeout and it was ready to pick up in 10 minutes. They have plenty of tables to dine in as well. Very friendly, helpful employees. This place use to be very generous with their portions. Now they're really tight when it comes to salad dressing. I ordered a build your own salad. The dressing wasn't even a full cup (how it usually is) so I asked for more, they told me I had to purchase more. Lovely spot to stoop by and grab a nutritious healthy bite! The Menu is so well thought out, just a little bit "too much" to read and make up your mind, the ingredients are mega fresh, the portions are perfect but flavor wise not so much. The staff was friendly, and my only "but" was the guy at the cash register, (maybe the manager IDK) who was so grumpy and unfriendly. Hopefully, they hire more happy people. There is outside seating and inside seating with lots of spots. We got both salad and grain bowls. The ingredients seemed to be fresh and the bowls ordered as is we're very balanced. The shrimp was great but the portion was quite small (only ~5 small shrimp). Only bummer is that if you do a make you own, you have a limit on number of toppings included without an up charge. I get this from a cost perspective but as a vegetable lover wish you could get as many veggie options as you want and then have the upcharge for premium stuff. read more

So I always feel silly reviewing places like this. It's a build your own salad place. If it's not 5 stars you only have yourself and your bad taste to blame lol. So instead I will rate their house kombuchas. I sampled a few while making my selection and I have to say, they were all really good. The hibiscus ginger ale was a bit to gingery for my taste, has a ginger bite to it, but was still very tasty. My hands down favorite though was the mango guava. OMG delicious! The staff was nice, friendly, and knowledgeable with great recommendations. If you're in Kihei and want a healthy choice for lunch check this place out. Meh, I've not really been impressed with the Kahului store and Kihei wasn't much better unfortunately. The middle aged lady who took my order barked at me rudely, made me repeat my order 3 times and somehow still got it totally wrong. Staff didn't know what they were doing and everything was mixed up, with my salad being given to a to go order initially, then left on the counter while I waited, then finally the cashier realized who it belonged to and I got my lunch 15 mins later. It was all a bit farcical. The feta watermelon salad was mainly a huge pile of greens with 4 small pieces of cubed melon, yes a measly 4, a teaspoon of feta, a few pieces of tomato, waaaaay too many dried out dusty cranberries and just mouthfuls of greenery. I felt like a cow chewing the cud! It really wasn't worth the amount I spent on a box full of lettuce. On the positive side the dressing was good, if a tad sweet.
