Welcome back to Lahaina! Excellent food and wonderful people. I only wish we would have ordered more so I would have leftovers!

We went to Indian Grill n Curry on Christmas Eve. Had quite a long wait and the line kept growing behind us. They had many tables open or some where people had eaten and left but would not clean these. They were severely short staffed to handle the crowds and there was no one in charge of taking people's names down for some sort of a virtual queue. After about 45 mins of wait, we were finally seated. The server promptly took our order and was going by the order in which people were seated. Food arrived within 20-25 minutes and was excellent! We had Dal Makhani, Chicken Vindaloo, Saag Paneer, Chicken Biryani and a variety of Naans. All the dishes were very tasty. The food is Indian spicy (not American spicy) so Medium was enough heat for us so kids could eat it too. After we were done eating, we wanted boxes to go and to pay. However, given that they were short staffed, the server did not come to our table since he was taking orders/fending off unreasonable requests by someone who wanted a preferential treatment over the rest of the families waiting patiently in line. I ended up going in the back near the kitchen and one of the other servers was nice enough to hand me the boxes. Also had to go find my server to pay the check. As another yelper said- Food 5/5, Ambience 4/5 and Service 3/5. I would recommend to come at early dinner time - right around when they open so you can secure a spot. Or order a pickup if you are okay with it. They could really use some more servers for such a big sized place. And someone in the front to organize thingsa bit (move the "front desk" to the entrance and not in the middle of the restaurant). Was the wait worth it? I'd say absolutely, if you are craving Indian food after eating other cuisine for a while. read more

The food was the best Indians food I have had here in America. It was great value for the price. It was filling yet wasn't too heavy. 10/10.

We were tired of eating fancy resort food and were craving home cooked Indian food. This place served us authentic Indian food and not americanized version of it. Portions were generous and not overly priced. Their outdoor seating is cute and festive with all the lights. Our server was nice and attentive to our needs. If we come back to Wailea, we will definitely revisit. read more

This is hands down our fave spot for great Indian cuisine. They have perfected their spice level to our liking (yes, we like it HOT). Service is always great, the restaurant is nice and clean inside, and the quality of the food is consistent. We have never had a disappointing meal here. We always leave bellies full and happy! Please support this restaurant if you love Indian food or if you feel like venturing out of your comfort zone to try something new. They can adjust for all spice levels so don't worry if you don't like heat. read more

Visited 3 days into our honeymoon as we were both craving some spicy Indian food - and Indian Grill 'n Curry food truck did not disappoint! There is a lovely shaded outdoor area to eat food and the folks working there are so friendly and helpful. We had the Dal Tadka and Chicken Tikka masala extra spicy - both were delicious with some salted lassi to cool it down. Cant wait to go back! read more

Indian food is probably one of my most favorite cuisines and I was very disappointed to lose Indian Grill and Curry in Kihei. Come to find out that they have reopened in Lahaina near the end of the Bypass. My wife and I had our first meal at this new location yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. I consider Indian Grill and Curry the best Indian food on Maui. Great food and wonderful owners! read more

Their new name is 'Island Wok Express' and located in 30, Alahele Pl, Kīhei, HI-96753 and there are lots of other food trucks too.. 12/27/25 - not seating people. Just allowing take out orders. Extremely long lines to order. Ambiance is horrible due to that. Pathetic condition of bathrooms. One stall in women's stall was out of order and other was extremely dirty with no seat covers and dirty floors as well as toilet. I couldn't use it. Horrible way to manage. Please don't come here. Don't think twice, get in here for a delicious meal! The food is obviously made with love, the staff were very friendly and pleasant humans to talk with, and the videos playing in the background were fun and lively! We enjoyed the samosa chaat and kadhi paneer and I think we will order the same things next time, they were so delicious we basically licked the bowls! read more

My brother and his wife wanted to try an Indian cuisine for dinner while visiting Kihei, Maui for our spring break vacation. We headed to Indian Grill n Curry FKA Yak and Yeti located on 1881 S. Kihei Road and was worth a visit. It was a Monday night so it didn't seem crowded, which was nice. The waiter, and maybe the owners, seemed nice and friendly. I really love that the waiter recommended and also explained the menu as we have basic knowledge in our Indian cuisine. It was a nice and quiet experience. I asked the guy where to find the serving aluminum like bowl and he jokingly agreed for me to take it home Don't worry guys, I didn't! We had curry fries, vegetable samosa, butter chicken, lamb biryani, palak paneer, chicken vindaloo, and ended with a sweet dessert, gulab jamun [fried dough balls soaked in rose water syrup]. Food was mediocre. We were there on Christmas Eve and they only had take out. They were severely understaffed so we decided to do the take out. We ordered panner which was not very well seasoned. The naan and roti were very dry and chewy. Would not recommend going especially if they still only do takeout :( read more

Great service and delicious Indian food. My Bf and I were craving indian food, and decided to come here. Knowing we are supporting a restaurant that use to be in Lahaina and reading other reviews, this is our favorite indian spot on the island, even tho there is not many places. The prices were fair for the amount of food, we took leftovers home. we ordered the mango lassi's which were delish, and started with the samosa chaat mild, it was the perfect amount of spice and loved it compared to just the regular samosas. For dinner we had Dal Takda and Mutter paneer both mild because we know we cant handle medium LOL. Both were really good, but my BF liked the Mutter paneer better. we had garlic Naan and onion kulcha, which paired perfectly with the dishes, it also came with big bowl of basmati rice. The restaurant was clean, and the servers were nice and helped in a timely manner. Food came out fast and they also gave us Kama aina which was nice. Definitely will be back! read more

This was my go to place for lunch. Wife was working on vacation and would bring her lunch from year almost every other day. We tried palak paneer, mutter paneer , daal makhani and fish curry. Every dish comes with 1 serving of rice. We needed up ordering one Kira rice too. The food with medium spice level was perfect for us. Sometimes it was tad bit on salty level. They have small dining area on upper level where down the hatch is. The place gets full fairly quickly on weekends and dinners. There are few tables outside the restaurant too but still covered no open seating. You also have to place to go order before 8 and we saw them running out of food by then. It's very hard to reach them over phone in evening time. Lunch someone picked the phone. It takes 15 minutes for order to be served or ready so be prepared. Though it's quite fresh and hot. Do recommend this place if you have food restrictions and like or eat Indian food. read more

We were craving some Indian food after being on vacation for 4 days and we were very glad we found this place. We got kanda bhajiya, malai kofta, cheese garlic and jalapeño naan which were all great. The qty is good too. Everything on the menu is expensive. The staff were polite and checked on us multiple times. We decided to bring back paneer makhani entree for our meal the next day, but the paneer makhani was very disappointing and the rice was not soft and cooked properly. Other than that the malai kofta and the naan were great. Good option in Maui if you are craving Indian food. read more

We were so glad to find an Indian restaurant in Maui. We have been away from home for 11 days and were craving for some Indian food. Loved the samosa chaat. Aloo paratha was also top notch. The chicken curry had chicken thighs which is what I prefer and had the right amount of spice and heat. One of our favorite meals in Hawaii after visiting 3 islands. Considering staying in Kihei/Wailea instead of Kaanapali next time we visit so we can frequent this restaurant. read more

3 days into Maui trip and my family started craving for Indian food. Just a quick scan on Yelp showed us this restaurant. Glad we tried this restaurant! We took Thali and Vegetable Biryani. Thali had good coverage with everything that we can ask for. Food taste was good. Biryani too was very good especially the spicy one that we asked for. Ambience is average but who cares? We are here for to fulfill our cravings. Quality of Service is good, didn't have to wait too much. There is ample parking space. read more

Indian restaurants in the United States rarely fail to disappoint me and Indian Grill and curry in Maui was no exception. In order to just evaluate them for potential future order, I decided to just try Aloo Paratha and Onion Kulcha. So sad to see restaurants after restaurants passing off such lousy stuff and calling it Indian food. The potato filling had absolutely no flavor at all... as if the chefs have never heard of any spices or even salt. Paratha and kulcha were so dry.. did they runout of oil or ghee (gulp)? As if this wasn't enough, noticed a family get an order of samosa... it clearly had no layering, no flakiness, no crunch... it was clearly not samosa but some wannabe wrap covered filling. I took my first deep dive into Indian cuisine during a trip to Europe last summer and have been craving butter chicken and garlic naan ever since. I have been wanting to try Indian Grill n Curry for some time and was finally over in Lahaina at just the right time a few months ago. It took us a minute to find them, but their restaurant is located at the Wharf Cinema Center Shops and moved to the first floor (not the basement/lower level by Down the Hatch) towards the back of the center where buses pass through. The space is small and homey, but offers a handful of indoor seating. Their menu offers rice, breads, appetizers, and a variety of curries. All their curries are served with rice and their veggie dishes can be customized to vegan upon request. This was our second lunch (haha), so we stuck with two orders of garlic naan, butter chicken, chicken malai kalimirch, and rice. The food came out pretty quickly and we were pleasantly surprised. I was reminded of our trip to Europe and thoroughly enjoyed my butter chicken and naan. I also thought the chicken malai kalimirch was tasty and both dishes were tender and flavorful. Highly recommend those dishes! It is quite pricey and the serving size on the smaller end, hence the 4 stars, but it was sufficient for us and Indian restaurants are few and far between here on Maui. If you're really hungry, you'll probably need to order more. I would still definitely come back in the future when I'm hankering for some Indian food. Owner, Javed, came out and checked on us and we chatted for a bit. He was very nice and we found out after we had paid the bill that they offered kamaaina. We will definitely take advantage of that next time around. read more

We caved in and decided to have Indian food for lunch. They were nice to get us a table despite it being near to their closing time. The good - mango lassi, paneer makhanwala Needs improvement - tangdi kabab, butter chicken, pepper chicken. Needs a lot of improvement- gaajar halwa. Staff was very courteous and prompt. read more

This restaurant used to be downstairs by the koi pond, at the Wharf Cinema Center, now they moved upstairs. The Tandoori chicken wings were delicious! Loved it! Very tender and moist. Palak Paneer, again not a big fan of this dish but my daughter always orders this. Malai Kofta. What happened? It usually comes in red curry sauce but it was white? I did not care for it at all. Should have paid more attention to the pic on the menu. Aside from the Tandoori chicken wings, we were disappointed. The service was good and friendly though. read more

We stopped here to switch it up and try Indian food on Maui. The coconut creamy shrimp was very flavorful and the gravy was delicious. But the "poop chutes" of the shrimp weren't removed and the quality of shrimp could be better for the price. Decent portion tho. Service was good. read more

A nice & quiet restaurant located in the heart of downtown Lahina, Maui. We had ordered 2 vegetarian curries Paneer Makhni & Navaratan korma for To-go. 30 minutes was the waiting time. Both the curries were fresh, delicious, flavorful & creamy. These curries came with a side of basmati rice and was quite filling. Food was neatly packed without any spill or leakage. We liked this desi spot in Lahaina so much, we ate here thrice in our 1-week trip! The place is small, homely and welcoming, and we gave the purple samosas a try. They looked unlike any samosa filling I'd seen in the past, but were really well made, not overloaded with ghee or spices like many restaurants samosas tend to be. The encasing was perfectly crispy. The green and red chutneys were rather bland though. We then got two curries, the lamb bhuna and the paneer tikka. The lamb was great, but the paneer perhaps spiced too generously with small paneer pieces. We also got a dal tadka which was my favorite dish at this place, served in a cylindrical pot with a generous topping of tadka, true to its name. The rotis and naans were crispy and well made (the rotis perhaps overdone and too crunchy but still good). Next time we tried the kofta and chicken tikka, both excellent. Rice is served with the curries and is great on its own too. Also, the servers are sweet and friendly. read more

The tomato rice lacked flavor & possibly salt & same was with the kadhai paneer. They did rework the kadhai paneer & it tasted better after that. This is the first place in Maui worth a 45 minute drive from our resort. I would have been willing to drive this daily had I known about them sooner. The flavor profile here keeps to traditional tastes-rather than catering to a more "bland" profile I have experienced at some restaurants. This place caught my eye before entering into Foodland so I stopped here for dinner with my partner. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, service was quick and the staff was super friendly. We stopped here after a long leg flight to Maui. It came in handy to stop and eat an Indian meal before heading to the hotel in Walkeia because they offered vegan/ vegetarian options. We tried to order on our way in to avoid the wait. But they said they had to see us in our seats to place our order. As an afterthought we should have ordered take out. But the food came quickly enough we had black dal without cream and papal paneer without cream with two tandoori rotis which were crisp and whole wheat, so reddish in color but crispy. The onion rings were stale and we were charged extra for it. We had no energy to argue. The hostess who collected our payment at the table was polite. We ate the food, and enjoyed it. It is a bit pricy. They share parking with Foodland. The place is rustic with free range chickens running in the parking lot. We were thankful to have Indian food on the island. Only suggestion is that the bathroom needs attention. No soap. read more

Idk how to get in touch with the restaurant.I tried to call the number on Google and on the receipt. It doesn't accept calls or messages. Last night we ordered pick up and put in the order for 2 Palak Paneer dishes and one Navratan Korma. What we picked up was a Navratan Korma and 2 saag paneer. I would like to let the restaurant know about the error and maybe we can get a credit for a future pick up order but i'm not able to get in touch with anyone. read more
