Later, I discovered that 100% of the hotel received these wake-up calls. That's pretty terrible, especially waking up that early after a night in New Orleans. That's 90% of my complaints about the hotel, but I do have others. The carousel was not working in the Carousel Bar. The hotel room bathroom was very, very small. You could hear a lot of street noise even from the 11th floor. Would I stay at the Hotel Monteleone again? I've stayed there a few times in the past, but I would think three times before staying there again.

Front desk staff was AWESOME, so kind and quick to help us. However, after we asked to cancel our stay and went back up to the room to get our bags and leave, one of the hotel housekeepers decided to come up to our room and "confront us". She wanted us to show her the cockroaches (that we had killed and flushed) and tried telling us she's never seen a cockroach at Hotel Le Marais before, basically calling us liars. Lol, well, here's some pictures to prove it. Let's ask the audience. Positives: The front desk staff was exceptional. Very helpful, very kind and knowledgeable. It's located close to Bourbon and has a nice courtyard. Negatives: ROACHES IN THE ROOMS, confrontational housekeeper, thin walls.

Love, love, love this hotel! We always stay in the French Quarter, in historic buildings hotels…read morelike this one. This hotel is made up of five old French Quarter houses. All of the rooms are completely different. This hotel is just what I had hoped--tall ceilings, historic-style furniture, lots of balconies and courtyards with fountains. It is kind of a maze of hallways and staircases. In the parlor they have water, coffee, and espresso, biscotti, cookies, and fruit all day. There is a big fireplace with a gorgeous mantle. There is an elevator--it's tiny. There is a pool in one of the courtyards. One of the best things here? They have three sweet kitties who roam the hotel, although they spend lots of time in the lobby/parlor. We always try to get a two room suite, and this time we got a three room suite. It was perfect. The room we were in was a former slave quarter with two bedrooms. The ceilings were very high--i think the door to my son's room was about 12 feet tall. The bathroom has a rainshower head and the living area has an old heavy wood workspace with a copper sink. There is a fireplace in the living area, as well as one of the bedrooms--the other bedroom had a door to the private balcony. Both bedrooms and the living area have TVs. I asked the gentleman at the desk if this place was haunted and was told "absolutely, especially the 4th floor." Thankfully, we were in the second floor. He told us a few stories, including one that happened recently when two girls came to the desk at 2:00 a.m.. one of the girls was scared and crying. They checked out right then and there even though they were only 2 days into their paid-for 4 day stay. He also told us that when he was working the night shift, a jack in the box in the toy chest under the stairs would make music and pop up at 5:00 a.m. they moved the jack in the box to the attic and he had no idea if it still pops up by itself. He did say that the three cats that live there are there to keep the ghosts in check. We did go up to the fourth floor (the haunted floor) one night. There is a remodel in progress, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't spooked out up there. What great hospitality!!! The staff here is incredibly nice and helpful and accommodating. Such thoughtful touches, like creating maps of the parade route for the first day of Mardi gras. There is nothing not to love in this great hotel, which we will definitely return to--hopefully to room 210!

We could walk to so many restaurants, shops, and things we wanted to do in the French Quarter without constantly needing a car or Uber. The courtyard was one of my favorite parts of the hotel. It's so pretty and peaceful to sit out there after a busy day walking around the city. The pool area was also really nice and made me wish we had packed swimsuits. We did have an issue with the AC when we first checked in. We came back to the room later and realized it still hadn't cooled down. Staff did send someone to look at it, but we sat around waiting for a while before finally being moved to another room. I just feel like that part could've been handled a little quicker. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay. The room was nice, the location was great, and overall it was a really good experience.

The Davenport Lounge features excellent, easy, accomplished jazz courtesy of Jeremy Davenport and his quartet most (but not all) evenings. The food in the restaurant is excellent (as is the service), and staff throughout the venue and spa are top notch - friendly, courteous, uniformly professional. One of the great things is location - it is a very short walk to the crazy of the French Quarter, but a block away - so you have the safety, privacy, and isolation from the party when you need it, you aren't confronted by it as soon as you walk out the door of the hotel, but you are just a short walk around the corner to everything the Quarter and Bourbon Street have to offer. As an historic building, the architecture and aesthetic is much closer to "elegant old New Orleans" than, say, the Four Seasons (very very modern, almost cold presentation) or, for example, the Royal Sonesta which is smack dab in the middle of the crazy. When we come back to NOLA, it will be to the Ritz Carlton.

First, I had notated on our reservation that we were there for my husbands birthday, upon check in we received a quick "happy birthday" after my husband stated we were there for his day. Our room wasn't ready yet, no problem, we returned when it was and while getting the keys we overheard a small group next to us being told they'd get a special surprise for their birthday. The employee who told the group that was the same lady that initially checked us in, she saw we overheard and at that point offered my husband a gift from the little store. That was nice, and that was it for the remainder of our stay. Our executive suite was nice, smelled a bit wet/mildew upon first entering but it either went away or I got used to it. The rooms can definitely use some small updates like refreshing the grout; cleaning the couch; adding the shampoo/conditioner/wash to the shower rather than on the separate bathtubs ledge. After unpacking we went down to Davenport lounge and sat at the bar. Frankie was the bartender and the reason we didn't want to try anything else in the hotel. I ordered a cocktail with vsop, he poured VS in his shaker, when I got his attention and told him he said "it is vsop", I said no it is not.. and instead of double checking the bottle he just returned to one of the back shelves of the liquor bottles, instead of acknowledging or apologizing for the mix up, he just poured the vs down the sink and said "let me see if we have it". He walked to the back room and came back swiftly with the correct liquor and proceeded to make my drink. His behavior in this situation really caught me by surprise because I have never encountered such a negative experience at a Ritz location. I did text my experience to the staff and got a cookie cutter apology, not even making me feel like the situation would be brought to Frankie's attention. On our second evening there we were walking back in through the doors on canal street, there was one attendant on each side of the doors, the gentleman on the right was pleasant and said welcome back, while the female on the other side seemed bothered to be at work and was tapping her fingernails on the door handle as she held it open for us. That was rather unwelcoming and just unprofessional. Anyhow, the location is perfect if you're looking to be very close to all the action of the city and the building itself is very nice. We encountered the friendliest staff in valet, I wish I got the name of the First Gentleman we encountered as he deserves praise for his excellent service and can teach some of his fellow employees a thing or two. I have been in love with the Ritz Carlton for a while now from experiences at other locations but I can say that after this visit I will book my next Nola stay at the Four Seasons (where I felt welcomed and valued when stopping in for a round at their lounge).

Hotel is still dated etc but service is good Will give 2 stars because it is a cool historical building and front desk people on duty seem to want to help . The original front desk clerk wasn't the friendliest. Then we got to our room and just feels damp , musty and unclean. (But spacious). There is this raggy musty couch that seems "damp" for lack of better word, which I wouldn't even touch. Rug seems nasty. There is a sign saying "enjoy your two artisan waters " and there are no waters here. The room phone doesn't work so If we need anything have to walk downstairs. The view is of nothing, but worst part is AC is on 60 degrees and we are sweating in here. It's not really blowing and would estimate it's about 75 in here . They are "sending someone " to fix ac but now we have to wait for this to happen and can't shower or get ready. Will update review if they make things right .
