The Vintage - New Orleans, LA The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018! I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Cute cafe! l love the decor. The furniture is very cute & standout ottoman piano did look vintage. This is a walk up & order at the bar venue Your are given a number to your table. The menu has many choices. I ordered the firecracker shrimp with side arugula salad. The shrimp was yummy the salad too but expected more on the salad maybe cucumber or tomatoes over all for just having cheese on Arugula with dressing was ok. I paired it with the shrimp and it was tasty! According to the hop on/off bus the beignets & champagne are the hit at this cafe. Came here to try some different beignets and these missed the mark for me. I prefer my beignets on the sweeter and slightly doughier side. While the beignets were big in size, they were airy and blend once you bite into them. If it wasn't for the powdered sugar, they would hardly be edible. They do have specialty beignets on the menu and maybe I should have tried one of them instead of the traditional. Great coffee shop on Magazine St! The inside is super cozy, has plenty of seating, and is filled with antiques. This place is absolutely buzzing with energy from coffee, beignets, and boozy drinks. There was a brief 5-10 minute line by the cashier. You order at the cashier and then someone will bring your food order later. The service was pretty efficient but we didn't get any silverware with our beignets. I tried the Nola iced coffee half sweet here and the raspberry filled beignets. I liked how cute the beignet flight option was. The raspberry filled one was delicious with plenty of powdered sugar and the tart raspberry filling was a great combination. My chai latte was lovely so I would have given them 5 stars but for the simple and tragic fact that they don't offer decaf. Some of us just can't have caffeine due to health stuff--in my case a heart condition--and it always reads as somewhat snobbish to me when cafes do this. Like, "oh, you don't want caffeine? Better just not drink coffee." I like the taste. *shrugs* Anyway, great chai. And kudos for having more than one alternative milk, too! I knew I'd be taken by the antique soda fountain/pharmacy charm and I was right. As soon as I walked in, I wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon here. They have coffee and espresso. They have wine. They even have a generous daily happy hour, 8-11am and 3-6 pm. They have food. But if you have dietary restrictions, you're going to need to eat elsewhere. It is on the smaller side but perfect for a nice sunny day with a little breeze. You order at the counter then grab a number/table and I was definitely enticed into a frozen cafe au lait when I saw the machine up front. I was also on a beignet mission so that was certainly what I was going to get -- the fancy beignet flight is 1 smore, 1 matcha, and 1 raspberry but I opted for 2 matcha, 1 raspberry. Order came out in a timely manner and service was so sweet in grabbing me a box when I realized there was 0 chance of me eating all these in one sitting. The beignets were delicious, crispy, sweet warm -- I will say raspberry won over matcha because the matcha ones didn't quite hit the earthy flavor. It was almost too much of a roasted matcha/barley flavor. Would I still eat it and did I still eat it? Absolutely. The frozen cafe au lait was a miss for me, but I think it's just personal preference in terms of how much chicory you like in your drink. This was recommended to us by a waiter at Napoleon House, who suggested it to round out our beignet experience in New Orleans. We opted for the beignet flight, but our order got a little twisted and we received it in a to go box. I was most excited about the pear and brie beignet, but was disappointed. The brie was cold and firm, not warm and melty as I had thought it would be. The pears were small and chopped up on top of the beignet, so overall it was not a cohesive or enjoyable bite. Probably the worst bite out of anything we had during our New Orleans trip. It wasn't terrible, but I feel justified saying it was bad. We got the "fancy" beignet flight. The selection was raspberry filled, s'mores, and matcha filled. Tell me why it took over 30 minutes for the beignets to come out. We thought they forgot about us. The presentation of the beignets is great, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about it. The raspberry beignet was overly sweet. The s'mores was super messy and just ok, somehow the marshmallow goo (not fluff, it was like liquid) didn't taste very marshmallow-y. The matcha was probably the worst one. There was zero matcha taste to the cream. It tastes like plain cream that was dyed green or something. The biscuit is bacon, poached egg, artisan cheese, and arugula. The vintage breakfast has cream grits, chunky bacon, and cheddar cheese. We also ordered the fancy beignets flight Matcha, s'mores, and raspberry. These were tasty to share but the snore and raspberry were too sugary. I liked the matcha flavor but sticking with the standard beignets may be a better option. We also got a seasonal latte, the honey bee latte. Strange when you walk in. There's a cocktail bar in front and a coffee bar in the back. You order and pay there then you get a picture of an old style celebrity to put on your table where someone runs your food out to you. You carry your own drinks. Except for that, no table service. There are a few seats out front (one was being used by an old man selling parachord bracelets) and some seats in the rear which were crowded, kinda falling apart, a loud air conditioning unit humming loudly. First off, I absolutely love Magazine Street as a whole, and the Vintage is right there at its core. If I lived in NOLA more often I'd probably choose right there. Pretty sure I've already given a review here but I went back again yesterday and needed to talk about how amazing the pistachio beignet was because I want to be able to have this flavor every time I'm back. If I did that along with the blueberry cheesecake and/or raspberry every time, I'd be (well, maybe sugar high) satisfied completely on my desserts fix for a month. The boozy coffees and the espresso martinis are also elite, naturally since it's a coffee shop. The interior is classic prohibition era style, and the bartenders are always the friendliest. Good foods, good customer service, great beignets! My husband and I were in town for the weekend and we heard about the beignet flight at The Vintage. My husband is a simple guy when it comes to flavors, but I'm a bit more adventurous. We got an order of the traditional beignets and I got a Matcha beignet in addition. Matcha beignet was great! However, the traditional beignets were untouchable. We also had a Panini and flatbread, which were also great. I love the fact that they offer water cups without having to purchase water behind the counter. Drinks from the bar are strong and good! Now, the bathrooms have seen better days. And for my mom's and dad's (aunts, uncles and grandparents) or whoever may be needing to change the baby, there are no changing tables so you have to get creative. I think it's really cool that this place is part cafe, part wine bar. The decor was really fun and I think it would transition perfectly from day to night. We came in here for brunch and liked everything we ordered. We ordered traditional beignets, egg bites, apple brie flatbread (minus the bacon), and a bbq chicken pressed sandwich. To drink, we got chicory coffee and a chai. RE: chicory coffee, It was my first time trying it here and I really enjoyed it and proceeded it to order it throughout my trip. You order at the bar or with barista and they call your name when your order is ready. Bartenders/barista and very nice, outgoing and pleasant with smiles on their faces! I did expect bigger selection but they only have 3-4 fancy beignet options and of course traditional covered in confectioners sugar. Since I don't fancy matcha I got blueberry, s'mores and raspberry. They were all delish, very soft and fluffy with plenty of filling inside especially blueberry one yum!
