    Beignets
    Juliette M.

I loveeee Cafe Du Monde! Each location that I have been to has the freshest, most delicious beignets. The best in the city! I tried the Mandeville location the other night and I wish it could've been better. The service was lacking and slow. I must say though that they made the beignets fresh to order and they were hot. There is a good amount of seating inside and it was clean. My favorite location is still in city park, but that's a hard spot to beat!

There's nothing I can't say that hasn't already been said. Cafe du Monde is legendary for a lush beignet when you want a tried and true, celebrated pillow of dough with a dusting of powdered sugar (I request them light sugar). Having said that when the temperature starts going up I go solely for the frozen coffee. It cools you to the core, and it's deeeelicious. And going inside, the smells of warm beignets wafting through the air are tempting indeed, but that frozen cup of joy is what I'm here for in these warm temps.

Great location, plenty of parking. The inside is larger than it looks from the outside. There are a few tables outside as well as a drive up window. Staff really friendly and as usual very efficient on taking orders to keep the walk up line going. Cafe Au Lait is always consistent and yummy.

WowZa! I did not know this location was here, but I do now -- and with much longer hours than the Covington location (thank goodness) , I'm in beignet heaven in Mandeville. Located directly off the interstate (so clutch), this stop made our trip back to Houston so much sweeter. Honest take: The beignet quality is on par, if not better, than the NOLA locations as there's much less traffic and fresher grease, maybe???! I'm not sure. But, there's something to it. I loved the "watcher window" to check out the beignets in the making, and seeing our order from scratch to finish, and getting our beignets perfectly, piping hot. Loved it, mean it-- ALWAYS!

Way cool! I can get beignets without going to the Quarter. It has been 27 years since Ive been to the Quarter or Metairie location so I might be mistaken here but the experience there is they shake your beignets in a paper bag to coat them with the sugar while wearing the long aprons (probably not anymore). They have decorated this location in trying to replicate the experience but nothing beats sitting out on the patio in the Quarter and people watching all the tourists while you chow down on hot beignets. I ordered the Beignets (3 to an order) and a Chocolate Milk. Good old Borden milk! Can't get that back home. The beignets were perfect, just like I remembered them. All these experiences of my former years living here for two decades makes me want to move back. Great service from the pleasant staff. The store was very clean and all tables spotless.

Oh my gosh! I was so happy to be able to introduce my family to Cafe Au Lait and Beignets without actually going into the French Quarter... GPS routes you onto I12 around New Orleans proper if you're driving cross country. We were fortunate enough to stop for a meal on our trip and I was talking to an employee about Cafe Du Monde, she told me about this gem located about ten minutes away. Wow! The place is located in a shopping complex, but it's decorated very much like downtown. The exterior design is also very reminiscent of the French Quarter. The coffee and beignets were delicious. Very close to the original! And the staff were friendly and efficient. We'll be back I'm sure!

    Beignets and chicory decaf

This is a great spot to try the iconic beignets and chicory coffee without the lines! I was very grateful for the decaf option during our afternoon pit stop and thought the coffee was very tasty. The beignets!!!! Of course, I heard that they were good but didn't expect them to be so pillowy and fun to eat! Somehow they weren't overwhelmingly greasy either (maybe the sugar covered it up), and I happily ate all three :) I heard that the key is to not inhale while taking a bite and survived mostly un-powdered. Also, I was wearing white.

My favorite place to get cafe au lait and beignets and I'm so glad they have other locations than just New Orleans. Very, very friendly service, quick service here as there was no wait. Highly recommend this spot and I'll always be coming back.

Pass this location everyday and notice that it never seems busy. Well, I needed to kill time in the area so I decided to stop in. At first glance, the place seemed very clean and in order, but also empty and the place felt depressing at 7:45 AM. The employees were very friendly and eager to serve. I ordered one order and a coffee. I was told that they had no mugs or plates due to a hot water issue. No big deal, things happen. I then noticed the guy grab three beignets from a steel bin and it looked as if the beignets had been sitting a while. Sure enough, the beignets were cold and did not taste fresh like I remember growing up. So disappointed and sad to see such an iconic place seem as though it's on life support.

    Covered in powdered sugar!

Easy drive thru for some beignets when you're not at the original location and want a quick fix! We got a simple order of 3 beignets and they're each a large size. They were piping hot and had a TON of powdered sugar. Definitely hit the spot!

The beignets were as hard as a rock. They were deformed and ugly. The mocha was horrendous. Employees were nice and polite. The restaurant had a comfy feel.

Wow! Does that look great or what? I want more...

Went to the original location (French Quarter). Not here... lines forever. No lines at the Mandeville location. Ordered the café and beignets. Made to order, hot and fresh. Served fast and friendly. What a treat. Look at those beignets, covered with a cup of powered sugar (each... almost). Perfectly cooked beignets. Crispy with moist fluffy insides. What a mess I made with the powder. All over the table, shirt, pants, and even the floor. I'll do better next time! I would be here every day if I lived close. Happy camper.... 10 star!

Better than the one in the French Quarter spot imo...Why? Because you're getting the same delicious beignets without the lines and the smell. Easier to visit as it's located in a shopping plaza and plenty of parking. The beignets and coffee are always hot and fresh. The staff is fantastic and friendly, the dining area is clean. Everything you expect from Cafe Du Monde without the loud, long lines and parking headache.

    Hot chocolate and beignets!

Coffee is delicious. Place didn't have much to choose from but the coffee was worth it.

Beignets were delicious. It doesn't quite have the feel of the French Quarter location, of course, but coffees and cocoas were good as well.

It is attached to The Beach House and I am pretty sure it used to be a bar or at east part of the bar at the BH. Now it is a full on coffee shop. The Good The coffee here is very good. The iced coffee is bold yet smooth with very little bitterness. if you're a fan of coffee the way god intended (black with nothing), you will be happy with their version. If I had to guess I would say that it's cold brewed. There is a decent selection of food items. On my most recent visit I had a croissant sandwich. It was pre-made and microwaved to warm it up, but it was tasty. My daughter had a chocolate muffin which she devoured with the quickness. The "Just OK" This is a small and narrow space with low ceilings. Each time I have been here it seemed as if all, or almost all, of the tables were taken up by folks who weren't leaving anytime soon. I am a big fan of working at a coffee shop, but if you've got whining kids, it is nice to have a place to sit, eat, and then roll out. There is a small parking lot next to the shop. I have never seen it when it wasn't full. There is ample street parking, but the curbs are low and not friendly to low vehicles. The service is hit or miss. My most recent visit was fine, but several others have been downright odd. One time the barista didn't know how to make the sandwich I ordered. I am pretty sure it just gets unwrapped and put in the microwave. Will I be back? I think so. It is a nice alternative to the chains. I just wish I had more tie during the week to stop in.

The brussel sprouts are swimming in creme fraise and that was a turn off. I have rarely met a brussel spout I didn't like but it was not good. The poached shrimp dish ( name escapes me) comes in flavorful and nice tasting broth accompanied by great bread, BUR there were only 4 shrimp for over $20 - definitely not worth it. The tostada with roe wasn't bad, but it was unremarkable. Lastly the hanger steak was waaaayyyyyyy too salty and that alone cancelled out the pretty good, but meager, side veggies and minuscule teaspoon of polenta. It is an 'experience' to enter the restaurant through the faux pawn shop... You DO need to bring something to "pawn/leave" and that was fun and kinda funky but overall I wouldn't go back again, no do I think I can recommend it to others based on our experience.
