    Indoor dining room

Stopped in for lunch and discovered this new local gem. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating they have a cozy atmosphere, vibrant decor, and friendly service make for a great casual experience. Let's start with the arepas--perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these corn cakes were filled with tender, flavorful shredded chicken that practically melted in my mouth. Each bite was a delicious balance of savory meat and the slightly sweet arepa, and the accompanying sauce was the perfect finishing touch. They nailed it with these! Next up, the tacos (street style/size)--while you might not expect tacos at a Cuban spot, they've given this classic a delightful twist. The chicken and steak tacos I tried were bursting with juicy, marinated meat, topped with fresh cilantro, onions, and lime (on the side). The chicken and steak were high quality so all around a great taco! Lastly, the elote--a true crowd-pleaser. The grilled corn was slathered in a creamy, tangy sauce with just the right amount of cotija cheese and a sprinkle of chili powder. The sweet, smoky flavor of the corn paired with the spice was a match you'll enjoy! In short, this Cuban restaurant has quickly become a must-visit spot. Whether you're craving arepas, tacos, or the addictive elote, you're in for a treat!

We have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this place once the sign went up a few months ago. Always wanted a good South American restaurant option on the Northshore and this place did not disappoint. I have been three times in 2 weeks. The food is all handmade in house. Whether it's the corn flatbread for the arepas, the tostones,,, I could even tell without having to ask that the corn tortillas are hand pressed right there, which elevates a taco to a whole new level. The Jibarito is a very fun experience, just treat it like a sandwich and go to town. They make a delicious green sauce that goes on everything. The flan is the best I've ever tasted, and paired with a Cuban espresso you will think you're in Miami. PS: they are not currently doing dinner although I hope that eventually changes.

We are very lucky to have so many great restaurants in Old Mandeville and now we have another one- Cafetomas! It's a new Latin place where Hambone used to be. Today we tried the breakfast and everything was fantastic! We had the breakfast arepa with shredded beef and the chilaquiles with shredded chicken. Just ask about breakfast options because it wasn't on the regular menu. They have Cuban coffee and smoothies too. It's not a big menu but I am ok with a small menu that is done really well. They even gave our dog a pup cup! We also love the tacos! Absolutely delicious. Go check them out.

    A Jibarito sandwich

Everything was exquisite! My friends and I had the Jibarito. A sandwich with two huge fried plantains instead of bread! The sandwich itself was delicious with beef or chicken and a yummy sauce. The three of us devoured our tostones sandwiches as if we had never eaten anything better. I had a cortado, better than the ones I had in Miami, plus it was in a large cup. I may not sleep tonight! Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. The prices are very reasonable! I definitely recommend this restaurant. Have to add that the service was delightful and the place airy, with lots of windows. All in all a lovely place to enjoy a delicious meal with friends or by yourself!

Bright atmosphere and great AC. For the home cooked taste and portion sizes, we really liked the value of lots of good flavors and textures. Also enjoyed the Cuban Flan for dessert. Kitchen was accommodating for kid eaters who prefer their fajitas and tacos "plain" (boring!).

Food is delicious, great variety of drinks, parking is fast, close to shops and waterfront. I am trying everything on the menu.

A Latin style tapas place in the arts district boasting flavors from South America (Argentina,…read morePeru, Venezuela, Yucatan), Mexico (Oaxaca and Mexico City), and the Caribbean. Fresh seafood from the Gulf of MEXICO and a wicked drink menu. They offer several ceviches. Tapas include guacamole, empanadas, crawfish queso, fish dip and veggie salads like crispy cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. We had the crispy cauliflower served with tempura, cashew habanero crema, garbanzo hash, and chimichurri. Loads of flavor and just the right bite size for tapas/apps. Plates include churrasco, fish and grits, paella (can be served veggie or without shellfish if you're allergic), lamb, Yucatan style pork, shrimp or steak mofongo, and chicken poblano. I had the churrasco, served with papas bravas. Steak cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. My husband had the steak mofongo and the beef tips, like the churrasco, were seasoned perfectly. The plantain mash was sweet and somehow savory at the same time. We loved both dishes. They make mean margaritas and caipirinhas hre, and also offer drinks like the paloma, the Bolivian sour, sangria, and specialty drinks. Service was amazing. She was so upbeat and helpful. This restaurant was a little slow when we went. It deserves a lot more love. It's so close to the touristy part of the French Quarter. Leave the gimmicky spots and come here, you won't regret it.

The meat is also very tender. Service was good. Waitress was nice and welcoming.

The menu isn't huge, but that's part of its charm--they focus on classic Cuban favorites and absolutely nail the flavors. The bowls were outstanding: generous portions, perfectly seasoned, and honestly more food than we could finish. The empanadas were crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and disappeared quickly from the table. The yucca fries were fresh, hot, and perfectly crisp--some of the best we've had. The only challenge is finding the place. It's tucked away in the back corner of a small shopping center and easy to miss if you're not paying attention. Once you know where it is, though, you'll be glad you made the effort. If you're looking for authentic Cuban flavors in Baton Rouge, this spot is absolutely worth seeking out. Great food, generous portions, and a meal that will have us coming back again. Highly recommended!
