How fantastic is this gem. We need one of these on the Southshore! Who wouldn't want a place that has great coffee, alcoholic coffee, and yummy desserts?! We were only staying the weekend in the Northshore and we visited here twice. They have really great coffee, I remember reading it was Mojo coffee from New Orleans (so maybe we do have a Tandem in NOLA afterall). But this place does more than Mojo with regards to those martini espressos! Oh! so good! So, I had ordered one and it was top notch. The place is fun too, they have all kinds of board games and plenty of seating. It is a large quaint house-like establishment and has some outdoor seats as well. The place was really clean and the staff were all accommodating and friendly. One was so sorry they had just run out of the Dubai flavoring for the coffee, but it was ok. They have quite a few flavors to choose from. They also serve a full breakfast here. The customers range from all ages and from families to singles. Ok the coffee is MoJo and the ham/cheese croissant tastey. Homey feel and plenty of seating both inside and out in a welcoming feeling space. The hours are terrific (7AM-8pm most days). Prices are on par with the norm (moderate). Service seems to know locals/repeat customers and their preferences. All good things. Why the 1star deduction - I don't know about you, but I'm really getting weary of businesses harassing customers to tip employees so for simply taking my order at a register (no table service and asking for a 25% tip)... to ring up my order. I know times are tough -for everyone - but geeze I would serve myself and ring myself up if II could! We did not eat but we did have a polite and patient barista while we looked over the menu. Such a cute vibe. Once inside, I noticed that they do make cocktails that well and have different events going on during different times of the month. The cutest coffee shop close to the lakefront! It's so unique and even offers alcoholic drinks. The shop itself is so cute with indoor and outdoor seating. Tandem has a great vibe, friendly staff, and a very welcoming atmosphere. There's seating indoors and outdoors (shaded patio with fans), a game collection, and (of course) delicious cocktails, coffee, etc. (I love the pineapple matcha smoothie!). Located in beautiful Old Mandeville, Tandem is a great place to get a coffee, snack, and even work a little. I am always on the lookout for a coffee place where I can get a little work done. I am a bit of a workaholic and there is always something to do. Tandem is close to home and offers the perfect combination of cold brew and wi-fi. The cold brew is top tier. I noticed they get their beans from Mojo in Nola so that may have something to do with the quality of cold brew. Food items are limited but at breakfast, they offer a southwest scramble in a wrap or on a croissant. Both are good and come with a siracha sauce to up the heat level. I have also tried their pimento cheese grilled cheese and recommend it. Service is very friendly. Expect a brief wait if it is packed but that just gives you more time to work. Pro tip: If the parking out front is taken (or if you can't parallel park), there is a free lot half a block away (towards the lake). read more

Cute spot in Mandeville that you can almost miss because it's a house converted to a coffee shop. There's parking in the back and extra seating in the back as well. The food was delicious and there are some items on the chalkboard that were not on the menu. It was delicious and fresh. It's a nice atmosphere with the art on the wall for purchase. Great staff, warm and welcoming, they serve Mojo coffee roasted in New Orleans - so good! Their meal selection is varied and everything I have tried so far is yummy. They are more than just coffee, they have lots of refreshing drinks N/A & alcohol. Their craft cocktail selection is extensive, and their espresso martini is the best on the Northshore. The best kept secret on the Northshore. Everything from the avocado toast, to the baked goods, coffee and cocktails are all amazing! By far the best frozen coffee drink I've had, ever. It's just the right combination of coffee, cream, and sweeteners, not like the Seattle based place that sells burnt black water and frozen diabetes in a cup. I can't say enough about the quality of the coffee and the balance they achieve with just the right flavor and strength, it's really the only coffee I've ever had maybe other than Philz (CA) that achieves this (which IMO is a high bar to reach in the coffee world). right off made to feel welcome and important. Asked my name and remembered it the next day when we went back. The best hot latte I have ever had, and that's all I drink. My companion got a frozen coffee and she said it was to die for. That means it was good! Definately my go to from now on and I have to drive about 25 minutes, but it is so worth it. The only thing it lacks are intimate little nooks. But you can't have everything. However, the place was spotlessly clean, including the restroom and that was all gender. You looking for a place to call yours, this is it. The owner was on premises and went out of her way to speak with every patron and made sure their order was perfect. Try it you'll like it! I went back for the Pride Parade and went in for a water. Huge line moved fast and again when she put my name on my order, 5 items, she remembered my name. Now that's pretty damn good. The bread that the avocado toast came on was amazing! The "avocado" did taste like store bought guacamole spread, but the bread was so good I did not care that much. My mom and I had a lovely brunch at tandem. We split the avocado toast and the apple ricotta toast as well as an order of deviled eggs. We also had a limoncello spritz each. The proprietor delivered them to us herself and shared that the limoncello is made by her and is a labor of love. I LOVE limoncello and hers was delicious. Truly everything was delicious and we very much enjoyed the casual bright atmosphere. Perfect for a brunch or a stop in from a bike ride on the trace.
