We are currently only doing take-out due to the pandemic. Although the sit down part of the Cafe was pretty full at the dinner hour, according to my husband, who ran in to pick up our meals. Luckily the pick up area is separate and away from the tables. All the staff were wearing masks, as was my husband, so that was a win. We both ordered Reuben sandwiches. My husband had the turkey version, it was his first time with that and he liked it very much. This was my second time with the Vegan Beet Reuben and it is so delicious! Just the right amount of tang with the lightly pickled beet slices, topped with the amazingly good sauerkraut! It comes with a side of vegan white sauce of some kind. Whatever it is, it's good. The Pumpernickel bread is not the typical type found in the northeastern part of the country, it is large slices of a slightly softer bread that has a very light pumpernickel taste that is enhanced by the sauerkraut and pickled beets. This softness is likely a good thing, especially when one has slippery beet slices that might shoot out, they would stain everything they hit. The softer slices keep the beet and sauerkraut held safely within the sandwich, while eating it. My husband too liked the softer bread, as Reuben's can be quite a thick sandwich. A firmer bread might make it too tough to easily bite into. We also had a side of yummy sweet potato fries. I find my sandwich hearty enough to eat for two meals. It kept very well, and did not get soggy, wrapped in aluminum foil until the next day's lunch. The first time I ordered I had it two day later with no issues. I heat it up in the microwave and it's still delicious! I suspect an air fryer, or toaster oven would make the bread slightly crispy, and also be perfect. We were both very pleased. read more

This place was a delight. They have a combination of seafood, vegetarian and meat dishes to choose from. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had a pasta special with salmon and shrimp that had a light sauce and was some of the best salmon I have had in years in this area. The salads were fresh and had a nice variety of vegetables. Service was so much better today during lunch hour on a Saturday. Edamame complimentary before our meals. Although, it does peek my curiosity if they do have other complimentary items. I was in the mood to try something different on their menu and turned out, it was the right move! I had to the Kelp noodle over quinoa with chicken. The chicken was cut in chunks, kind of dry but the sweet sauce that was drizzled over it complimented the dryness. It was a lite and scrumptious meal! I also tried another one of their specials, it was the grouper sandwich that came with a choice of soup. The beets soup depends on preference, as for mine, the taste overall was lite and interesting. I say, interesting because with a couple sips, I could taste each ingredients. Yes, it was yummy but beet juice stains like a bitch! (Thankfully it only got to my napkin and not to my clothes lol) Last, to clean my palette, I drank organic jasmine hot tea. A pot of steaming hot water was served with a cup and tea bag. I babied the tea while it steeped in with the hot water. It stayed hot even when I finished both of my meals. Stopped in here with a friend last Saturday for lunch. I am a Whipple procedure survivor and I need to eat very healthy. It's really difficult for me to go out to eat anywhere because of the lack of healthy choices. This place is amazing. first of all, the staff is friendly and attentive. To start, they bring you a small bowl of edamame, which is very nice. I tried their CBD infused kombucha. I've never had anything like this before. It was different, but refreshing, and I really loved it. It made me feel wonderful! I ordered their famous Evergreen club. It was absolutely delicious. I chose a side of roasted cauliflower, which was also delicious. I also wanted to mention that the portions are huge, at least for me. I took half of my meal home! I got to enjoy it all over again later!! I enjoyed my meal so much, that I went back again today and had it all over again! Next time, I'll try something different. Love the concept of healthy conscious eating and Cafe Evergreen is really trying to create a sustainable restaurant in Nokomis--the food is pretty good. However, the last couple of times when I walked into the cafe the smell of Chlorine bleach greeted me instead of beautiful aromas from the kitchen. Chlorine beach is extremely toxic and there are so many healthier cleaning products on the market these days that there is really no need to use it any more. This place is AMAZING! Every single bite tasted scrumptious. The edamame starter had spice to wake up your test buds. For appetizers we got broiled cauliflower and baked sweet potato fries. For two of us, there was enough that we really wouldn't have had to eaten more. We ordered, however, the beet Reuben and eggplant Napoleon. Oh my goodness! Both were divine! Not to be deterred, we decided to go all out and order dessert. Pecan cranberry pie and Raw almond balls. I think we were too full to appreciate them. The pie was definitely not like a pecan pie. It is more a cranberry pie with crumbled pecans on it. The almond balls were good. In the future, I'd probably skip dessert but am glad we tried them :) if you are in the Nokomis area and want very good, reasonably priced healthy foods for meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans, you MUST try Cafe Evergreen! read more

This is definitely a healthy place to eat. This was my second time there, and the friend that came with me, has to be extremely careful what she eats because of health issues, and she was amazed at the selection and the freshness. This is another restaurant my family & I always go to when I'm in town visiting. The food is amazing - fresh, flavorful & beautifully presented. I'm vegan & there are tons of options (and for anyone with dietary restrictions) - that said, there are some meat entrees on the menu so everyone can find something they will love! I had the eggplant stack, which looked spectacular, and tasted great (although I wish it was cooked a bit longer). Our only complaints was the service: our waitress was very nice, but the service was slow. They forgot the edamame, I had to ask for water refill....just seemed like an off night.
