Coffee bar in a salon. I could see why they priced their foods & drinks in that price ranges. Luckily came in a sunday & before the salon opened so it was silent but the coffee bar was open. Fair amount of seating. Each item on the menu has picture which I personally like. And their service was good & friendly. Ordered a samoan latte which was good and sweet, and lavender mocha half sweet was good as well. I did notice that the drinks on the menu seem sweet coffee which is not really a preference for me but wanted to give it a try & I didn't really regret it. However, they do have none sweet coffee as well like black coffee, smoothie, or pressed juice. Also, the chicken croissant was delicious. I guess the prices are fair due to the fact it's in a salon.

I was so excited to try this place. Right next to my house, yummy food photos on line , and then a big article in the Daily Press. I talked my family into checking it out for lunch, so the 4 of us and a baby drove around the corner. It is part of a salon, and when I say part of a salon, I mean there is a counter and a few tiny tables along the wall in the middle between the salon and spa. It is really cute, bright and clean, but not what I expected in size. There are 2 large chairs and a small alcove, again with tables for 2 and no way to join them up. Friendly lady at the counter told us to sit anywhere, but there was no place for us to sit. One person at the counter suggested we sit separately at 2 small tables. No thanks. We looked around to see if pushing 2 tables together was possible, but it wasnt. Son turned to me and said, "We're leaving.' He and his wife walked out. I followed behind. I saw several couples of all ages making their way into the cafe. I saw other couples inside enjoying the newspaper recommended chicken salad. So if there are only one or two of you, you can be accomodated. I am very disappointed that we were unable to eat here. I was really looking forward to becoming a regular. Maybe I will try takeout sometime

Situated right under the York River bridge, not far from the Yorktown museum, is the cutest village. I'm sorry, they can't claim it as part of the original Yorktown but it is cute. There is a lovely river walk...hence the name of the restaurant. They have some of the BEST views in the area being right there. We had reservations however it being the busiest day for restaurants, we had to chill our heels for a few moments before being taken back. I was more than ok with this as we ended up getting a window seat (see above for reference). Thank heavens they put the name of the server in the receipt cuz y'all know my Swiss cheese brain. Cara was the wonderful server who took care of us. She was always there ready for me to get my mum good & spoiled. Super friendly and very helpful. The buffet, it was impressive for a buffet and while not a big buffet, it was specialized. First up were 3 different kinds of salads, then a fruit platter, and bagels & cream cheese. They had a raw bar with shrimp & oysters next, then breakfast stuff (eggs, potatoes bacon etc) mac & cheese, garlic mashed taters & then a carving station with turkey, ham & lamb. Finally a small but respectful dessert table. If you couldn't find something to fill you, you weren't looking. The single sour note of the buffet was the salmon and Mac & cheese. I'll know better next time. Overall the River Walk has come back with perfect timing and style. I highly recommend a visit. Parking is a pain but patience will help

My only complaints which are very minimal -- #1: there was fresh squeezed OJ listed on the menu but is no longer served and I'm a sucker for fresh squeezed so it immediately grabbed my attention; and #2: I wish I'd known I could do half grits and potatoes - I should've asked, but I overheard a local/regular customer ask for that after I'd already gotten my plate of food in front of me. But 100% satisfied with the grits, so no complaints with what I ordered and ate, just would've liked to try the potatoes, too!

I ordered the Hangover Plate, and it was exceptional. The homemade sausage gravy over a fresh biscuit, topped with eggs, cheese, and bacon, was rich, flavorful, and comforting without being overly heavy. The seasoned home fries were perfectly cooked and complemented the meal well. We also tried the 185 Cheeseburger, and it was equally impressive. The burger was juicy, cooked exactly right, served on a fresh brioche bun, and topped with fresh ingredients and a delicious smoky mayo. The service was friendly and attentive, the food arrived hot, and the portions were generous. You can tell the staff takes pride in both the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. It's easy to see why this restaurant continues to win local awards. If you're anywhere near Yorktown or Newport News, 185 Restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I arrived here on a Friday around 10 and they have valet which we absolutely loved because the parking lot can be tricky. So all you have to do is pull up behind the restaurant and they will park your car. We were expecting a huge wait time, originally they told us 45 minutes and we ended up only waiting 25 minutes. That time flew by, while you wait they have a small bar outside to enjoy and they have the cutest little gift shop. While we waited the worker inside the gift shop was the sweetest and she gave us some backstory about the Bee and the Biscuit. After 25 minutes we sat down. We didn't know what to order since everything sounded great but I got the Steak and Eggs Griddle (Medium Rare) and my partner got the Cowboy Benedict. Both were so delicious, please beware you will most likely not finish your food. They give great portions. I can't wait to come back to try more of there entrees it was truly an amazing place.

You will require this, as well as the outdoor bar and large outdoor seating area, because it is likely that you will be waiting before you have the opportunity to be seated and take advantage of the food offerings. With the parking out-of-the-way, and your expectation that you will be waiting about the length of a feature film behind you during busy periods, let's get to the food. There is a straightforward charm, and there are biscuits, but the value add really isn't there for the amount of time investment and at the price point. Service is workmanlike and pleasant, seating is tight as you might imagine. To be fair, there is some creativity in the dish naming and drink presentation. Taken on its own merits, I would rate it as a three out of five. This is the sort of place that generates a lot of attention and buzz because of its location in an affluent area and because of word of mouth. But the fare is not of such a spectacular quality that the peak hour waits justify.

I'm not exaggerating. It came out super quick too so they have to be making it ahead and just letting it sit. I had country fried steak, eggs over medium, toast and home fries and a side of bacon. The home fries and steak were lukewarm, the eggs were literally cold like they sat in the refrigerator, the bacon was also damned close to being that cold. The toast was cold as can be, barely toasted, no butter, not cut. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said there is butter on the table. That's it. She really seemed like it was a bother to have to serve customers at all. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I don't know how this place has any positive reviews at all. I sent my entire meal back but still paid for coffee and the side of bacon (and my sons' meals of waffles and French toast). I didn't want mine remade. Still cost me nearly 50 dollars for this trash, and no offer to make it right other than removing exactly what I sent back. My other and more serious concern is food safety. IF they ARE cooking this ahead and storing it in a way that leaves it cold or room temp, bacteria is a big concern. I'm typing this from the toilet and my stomach is going through it right now. From a few bites of cold food? Maybe.
