You order on the ground floor, then choose to sit upstairs in one of the little rooms or outside at the picnic tables. We tried the banana custard latte, which had good coffee flavor, but unfortunately no banana custard taste. No parking lot, so you'll have to park nearby and walk a short distance. read more

What a great little cafe on the bluffs of York town. There is a large seating upstairs in the historic building or multiple picnic tables on a grassy area right outside. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to my daughters but allergy. We got lemonades which were tasty! Def stop in while exploring the area. read more

This cute coffee shop in Yorktown was such a joy to start our day with. They were already so busy by the time we got there that the toffee latte was sold out. The pistachio one was a good back up, but I plan on returning in the hopes of getting a good toffee coffee. Their selection of tin tea were also great, and I bought a Schitt's Creek Harney & Sons one I had never seen before. The service was friendly and speedy. I look forward to going back. read more

Absolutely a gem in Yorktown! The old building is charming - although small. The servers were friendly and they will deliver your coffee to wherever you choose to sit. We sat outside in the picnic area. Lots of picnic tables and shade from trees. One table covered is available by the building. They have special flavors so I tried the Cookie Butter latte and it was great. They have a wide selection of syrups, milks and pastries. I will return! I would be remiss if I didn't update my review following my most recent visit. I finally got to try their curry chickpea wrap and I have three words: Worth. The. Wait. Seriously, any misgivings I had from my previous visit were very quickly forgotten as I indulged in what was a PERFECT lunch on a sunny spring afternoon at one of their picnic tables out back. Per usual, my latte was very well made - not too sweet. The service was lovely, as well, earning back the fifth star that I begrudgingly left off of my last review. Amazing Lavender Swiss Chocolate Latte! The baked goods were delicious. Glad to have company in my visit so we could sample each other's selections. We had the Oatmeal Cookie Cream Pie, Apple Pecan Cake, and Pear Butterscotch Muffin. The staff is friendly and deliver orders to the table whether you are dining al fresco by the fire pit (it's February) or in the Colonial dining rooms upstairs. It's a coffee place for tourists. The kind of place you go to cause you're on vacation, or in the area and it's the only coffee place around (which it actually is). Food is good, baked goods are consistently not great, coffee is ok, service is excellent. Beans/grounds sold in store don't have roasting dates on them, which is a red flag I repeatedly chose to ignore hoping to make the closest local coffee roasters to me, work. But, three months purchasing a bag in store, every month, not one was fresh :/. As a local, I bring my out of town friends here for some historical awe and coffee next to a graveyard but, outside of that, there are other roasters in the relative area that blow this place out of the water. read more

An absolutely precious coffee shop tucked away in scenic Yorktown. Parking is just a block away, it's located on a no vehicle road, so you will have to take a short walk to get here, but it's worth it. Any place that roasts their own coffee already has bonus points to me. But walking into a historic home, with great staff, that makes amazing coffee, and great food? A home run. We got their cinnamon roll, their breakfast bagel Sammy, a flat white, and an iced lavender latte and everything was so good. There's a ton of outdoor seating, and it's clear that this place is a foundational part of the community. I've been hearing good things about the food at Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters & today was the day I had a chance to try them. I was picking up food so my husband & I could picnic in Newport News Park on his lunch break. (A bit of a zen moment for the middle of his day). As a vegan I've been told that the curried chickpea salad wrap is good but I'm here to tell you that doesn't even do it justice. The tanginess of the cranberries coupled with the warmth of the curry was an outstanding flavor combo I didn't know I needed in my life! So good and so filling! My husband is an Omni and had the Ruben. His first bite & he exclaimed 'WOW THEY MADE THEIR OWN SAUERKRAUT!' His Sammie was FAT & he was only able to eat 1/2 (this is a man who can inhale 6 loaded tacos like there's nothing to it - the man defies physics bc he eats like a fat kid at thanksgiving and is so skinny he's a rail) he's looking forward to leftovers for dinner. All in all a good call (& somewhere I've been waiting to try for a while knocked off the list). We will definitely be back! There also have an upstairs dining area and a lil courtyard. This place was really a joy! This is another coffee find thanks to the Virginia Cafe Passport and, Yes! They had the perfect latte. Smooth, proper foam to drink ratio, with a touch of pour over finish in the foam. The staff were all friendly and the place was welcoming. The feel of the old building was fun inside and the outdoor space was huge. This will be a must hit every time we're in Yorktown. Just OK. The baked goods were hit or miss for us...they suffer for having been made offsite, packaged, and traveled to the location. Might as well just buy baked goods from the grocery store. There are signs in the backyard telling tourists that the tables are only for their customers. That felt icky. Not sure why a coffee roaster place sells beers?? We came here at the recommendation of my nephew. The coffee is amazing. The hot chocolate was great. The breakfast sandwiches were great too. Recommend the rye over the bagel breakfast sandwiches. We stopped in here for a quick coffee on our drive home. Next time I definitely want to eat because everything looked and sounded delicious. Mobjacks is located in historic Yorktown and in the 18th Century Cole Diggs house....history of the house is on plaques outside. It absolutely did not lose it's charm. When you first walk in you smell the coffee.....it's wonderful. It is a bit cramped inside, it is an 18th century house. They have lots of seating outside and inside they have the cutest seating area upstairs. The walls are sloped and the ceilings low. I loved it. Since it was a quick stop we got our iced lattes, sat in the air conditioning and we were on our way. I definitely want to go back. And yes....the service was friendly and fast. read more

So, I understand the current economy and how people are short staffed,, but this place was both understaffed AND were sold out of basically everything. PROS: cute place, lots of outdoor seating, coffee was good (if they have it) CONS: we ordered an iced latte and the staff told us at first, it was a 25 minute wait. When I said okay, no problem, he changed his mind, and decided to tell me that it was a 75 minute wait. There were still plenty of tables outside, and no one really inside, so I was a little confused why it would take 75 minutes to make one iced latte. Then I asked for a lemonade, they have three different types, and that was all sold out apparently. By the way, it's only 11 o'clock in the morning. We settled for a regular iced coffee, and he told my husband that they didn't have any more coffee to make two iced coffee's, and they had to give us an Americano. So you're a coffee shop with no coffee and I have to wait for over an hour for one? Hmmmm. Doubt I'd come again, unfortunately. read more

Mobjack Bay is situated in a Main Street of historic Yorktown and as cozy as its interior is, boasts a sprawling backyard with picnic tables, patios, and a firepit. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich, while I was feeling more lunch-y and went for the vegan chickpea salad wrap. We split a pumpkin pie muffin for something sweet, and enjoyed a latte on the side... all divine, all scratch-made. Prices were fair, as well. We couldn't leave without a bag of their coffee, and went for the specialty "Candy Crunch" flavored roast. I just popped into Mobjack out of the blue. I happen to be driving by and decided to stop in. The exterior is so cute. The exterior picnic table setting for seating is so inviting! The interior is small and tight, but totally worth it. There is seating upstairs as well. The staff was very friendly and did a wonderful job sifting through customers. They had so many delicious bakery items. I ended up with the last oatmeal pie and cinnamon sugar scone. I made the right choice. I did get a vanilla latte to wash it all down. Definitely a great stop when exploring Yorktown. They have cute seating upstairs within the historic building and lots of nice seating outside on the lawn. Items I ordered: Iced chai - it was decent, I wouldn't go out of my way just to get it. Grilled cheese : it took them 65 minutes (not kidding) to get it out. They hold told me it was a 45 mins wait which I accepted - if I knew it was going to take more than an hour I would have not ordered food. Finally the grilled cheese came out but all cold and cheese wasn't even melted. I had to tell them to re-grill it for me which they did. The staff is nice but they need to let customers know the real wait times. I have heard from friends they go there to go get ground coffee. I am not a coffee person so I wouldn't know. But I don't think I would be going back anytime soon. Surroundings: it's a cute little place. And they have plenty of outdoors seating. read more

This place is simply adorable. Definitely what Yorktown needed in a coffee shop with all the character of the colonial home. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating and will bring your food and drink to you outside. If you have your dog, they provide water bowls as well. They are allergen friendly with everything clearly marked which we always appreciate with a nut allergy in the group. We got the iced coffee, mini donuts and banana bread and all were great. My fiancé said he thought this was the first time he was able to buy banana bread without nuts so was thrilled to try it! It was also gluten free but you'd never know the difference. The employees were so kind and helped us pick out the perfect baked goods. We definitely want to come back to try out the delicious sandwiches. Highly recommend! read more

Despite this place's high ratings, my experience was disappointing. The employee at the counter seemed miserable. The menu listed a "small traditional macchiato," which should be an espresso shot with a splash of milk and milk foam. When I ordered, I was asked if I wanted it hot or iced. This confused me, as a traditional macchiato can't be iced. I specified I wanted the small traditional macchiato, assuming we both understood what that meant. When I received my drink, it was just an espresso shot. I explained to the employee that it lacked milk and foam. They insisted a traditional macchiato has no milk. I asked for clarification on how they make a traditional macchiato. After consulting the barista, they confirmed it should have a splash of milk and milk foam. I pointed out my drink was entirely black and asked them to check it, but they refused and asked if I wanted them to take it back. I reiterated that I wanted the correct drink, and the employee walked away without responding. Another employee then approached me. I explained the issue again, but he claimed the milk and foam were so minimal they were invisible. Despite asking both employees to check my drink twice, they refused. Instead of resolving the issue, they assumed I didn't understand my order. Having lived in Italy, I know what a traditional macchiato should be. The drink was incorrect, and the employees did nothing to fix it. read more

I went here during my visit to Yorktown. Overall everything was just average. I ended up getting a matcha latte. I think if I were to go back I would get coffee which is what they are more known for. The matcha was ok. It did not come sweetened so that was something I had to ask for. Also, they had a matcha drink special. I was told they were out of it but that I could essentially build it in my own. The customer service was strange and slightly standoffish. I think if you are visiting Yorktown it is worth the stop especially because it is a very cute historic building; however I would not go out of my way to try. read more
