A friend and I decided to meet at this new eatery for an impromptu lunch. The eatery is open Mon thru Friday for breakfast and lunch and closes at 3:30. On entering several tables were full but I grabbed a table and ordered an unsweet tea. The tea was nicely brewed and I enjoyed a glass and a refill. I decided to try the cheesy shrimp and grits because I have had that dish recently at other places. The dish arrived steaming hot in a sort of gumbo like presentation. The taste was a bit Cajun and the grits creamy. My friend chose the Mama Mary breakfast and ate every morsel! The owners checked on us and service was attentive but not intrusive. The food came out quickly and was fresh. The environment was very clean with a bit of an industrial vibe. The restrooms were very clean and the entire eatery was quickly bussed and readied for customers. We sat and chilled for awhile since no one was waiting for our table. We were enthusiastically thanked as we left. I have a big heart for small locally owned businesses and 134 certainly fills a niche in providing this eatery in this location. It seems a steady stream of customers have already found what I just wandered into. More people should follow my lead! The food is nicely prepared and I'd love to see if they can add something sweet to the menu to top off the meal or to enjoy with coffee or that nicely brewed iced tea.

My hubby & I went for lunch. I had the bbq & it was delish! Huge portion, had enough to eat the next day too. Hubby had the double cheeseburger. The meat was amazing flavor & was so juicy! We will def be back!!

    Awesome breakfast!

Neighborhood type diner with great food, service and portions and super people. Was in from out of town and would definitely make this place a must do if i lived here.

The Basic Burger is not basic, look at this juicy Burger with Mayo, tomato, lettuce and onions. So good!

I rank my decisions to eat somewhere again as: 1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry. 2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it 3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays 4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer 5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go

We only waited about 15 minutes. But the view of the water made the wait enjoyable. The atmosphere was appropriate for a casual place. Lots of dark wood, a bar, booths and, I assume, faux copper ceiling tiles. We were seated in a high table near the window with a view of York River. Our server was great! She helped me make a choice of beer. The double IPA was citrusy which I like. I was torn between the fish tacos, a loaded baked potato with "famous" chili, or grilled crab sandwich. She said beyond a doubt get the tacos. She was so right! I love fish tacos. The Booming Tacos, an off-the-menu item, was over the top. I mean there was so much rockfish it was over the top of the grilled flour tortilla. The moist blackened fish pieces laid atop spring mix and drizzled with a creamy spicy boom boom sauce. My husband had the Rachel, a turkey sandwich on rye with Russian dressing and coleslaw, it came with french fries that seemed to have a bit of a coating that made them very crunchy. Everything was great. If ever back in the area, this will be the place to eat.

Had to add salt and pepper to taste anything and then just didn't even eat 1/2. Paid an extra $1 for cheese and onions on top. I'm talking bye 7 little cheese pieces and the same with tiny onions. Their clam chowder was salty. And other than the fried seafood, it wasn't worth the cost. Need to remind ourselves this is tourist trap with bumped up prices for quickly made (and not properly seasoned) food. Major disappointment and a waste of $30 for a sandwich, fries and a cup of chili

They have a pretty extensive menu for a burger joint, with nine Valhallas (stuffed burgers), almost 2 dozen signature sandwiches (think patty melts), several regular burgers, hotdogs, and several sides including onion rings (they were out today), tots, several iterations of fries, and nachos. I ordered the Jana - a Valhalla stuffed with Swiss and Muenster cheeses and mushrooms, topped with a fried egg and "Viking Sauce," a sort of chili or meat sauce that seems to be made from turkey. It's huge- I practically had to unhinge my jaw like the Midgard Serpent to bite it! This is a $15 burger and it is well worth it. Understand that when they say "stuffed burger," it's basically two burgers with the stuffing squashed between them on a nice, big bun. I may not need to eat again today. My Bride got the Frigga sandwich - a beef patty with bacon, caramelized onion, Gouda cheese and grilled pineapple tidbits. At $11.50, it's reasonably priced, and must have been good- she wolfed it down like it was Tyr's hand. We opted for combos so we both got tater tots crispy enough to do ASMR videos with and drinks- they have both fountain and bottled drinks available. We had one of each. With Newport News' exorbitant meals tax, lunch came to $46 before tip. I'm not even mad about it- it was worth every penny. An excellent meal with some great customer service. I'm not likely to make the hour drive just to eat here, but I will certainly be back anytime I'm in town already and need to slay my hunger Viking style!
