That was a total waste of 2 days of my life! First day I wasted waiting for my crepe. I swear they were waiting on mold to turn into mushrooms before they put it into my crepe or else they were waiting on the one legged man to hop around and catch the chicken and pluck it? I swear my hair had grown an inch or more while waiting there and the worst part was there was barely anyone there? I should have known when my food tasted like it came out of George Washington's freezer because the second day I wasted sitting on the TOILET!!! To top it off the service was the worst I have experienced anywhere. I asked a simple question of how big the crepes were and I got a reply of "big enough" and a head shaking of you idiot for asking that question look from the barista. I know I know, you get paid minimum wage and judging from the service I got, the tips aren't great either but at least pretend that you don't despise your job like you would rather be at a nursing home on a Friday night playing bingo with a bunch of blue haired women. Anyhow I want my 2 days of my life back!!! Now everytime I come within 10 blocks of this place I break out in cold sweats and have flashbacks of sleeping on my toilet. Someday I hope I can get over my fears and be able to drive by 5th ave. again without the post tramatic syndrome. Can I take stars away? I don't think I want to give any? read more

We were passing through the Seattle area and decided to stop by Café Javasti in the Maple Leaf neighborhood. The café itself is pretty simple and casual -- not the kind of place that immediately impresses you with the décor, but comfortable enough to sit down and relax for a while. It's obvious they put most of their effort into the quality of the food and drinks, and that definitely shows. Crepe #1 with bananas, Nutella, whipped cream, and sliced almonds was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly filling. We also tried the lemon white chocolate macaron from the bakery case, which was a great little bonus -- lightly glazed, perfectly toasted, and not overly sweet. The cappuccino was good, though probably not the best choice if you're looking for a really strong coffee boost. Effie made the visit especially enjoyable. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome even as out-of-towners just passing through. My only real complaint was the tipping screen at checkout, which felt a bit too pushy. I prefer choosing a tip on my own without the pressure of the tablet prompts. Still, Effie absolutely deserved it -- the issue is more with the system than the staff. Overall, Café Javasti is a worthwhile stop if you're in Seattle and want quality food, pastries, and kind service. Just come for the flavors, not for a trendy atmosphere. read more

We were passing through the Seattle We were cutting through the Seattle area and checked out Cafe Javasti in the Maple Leaf neighborhood -- really glad we did. Effie was fantastic, friendly and attentive from the start, made us feel right at home as out-of-towners just passing through. Triple shot hazelnut latte was the move -- rich, bold, smooth hazelnut and actually delivered the caffeine punch you need on a long drive. Cappuccino was a bit light for our taste though. Crepe #1 with bananas, Nutella, whipped cream and sliced almonds was outstanding -- fresh ingredients, great flavors, solid portion. The lemon white chocolate macaroon from the bakery case was another win, perfectly toasted coconut with a light glaze. One thing I'll be honest about -- the forced tipping prompt at checkout is something I never love. Feels like pressure rather than a genuine choice, and it's becoming too common everywhere. I'd rather tip freely when I feel it's earned -- and honestly Effie earned it -- but the screen-in-your-face moment takes away from that. Minor gripe in an otherwise excellent experience. Cafe Javasti is a legitimate quality stop for anyone passing through Seattle. Great food, great coffee, great staff. Just lose the guilt-trip checkout screen. read more

Since moving into the neighborhood a few months ago I thought I would give Cafe Javasti a try. I usually go to the Jewel Box Cafe down the block, but on this particular Sunday they were completely full without even one open seating. So I was forced to go to Javasti. I guess they aren't really in the same league so it's a little unfair for me to compare the two, but their offerings are very similar with crepes and coffee drinks. First the atmosphere is completely different. I felt a little cramped since it is a small space. It was no where as grand or inviting as the Jewel Box. The latte I ordered had no latte art. I know I am a latte snob. I've been spoiled living in Seattle. I wouldn't say it was awful. A little weak , but more on the bitter side for my taste. Didn't have much body with a little bitter after taste would describe it better. I know I know, I said I would compare the two. Anyways had a crepe and it was more on the cardboard side. When I had crepes while visiting paris and another coffee shop down the street it was more like a thin pancake much like you guessed it ....Jewel Box!! I have been in a few times, but it just doesn't grab me like some of the other coffee shops. The espresso was good the first time and the second time it was not so good. A little burnt. Liked the granola bar I had. The ham crepe was average at best. I think the flavor and consistency of the batter is where it's at and it just wasn't quite there. read more

I completely disagree with any of the negative reviews of this store. Every time I stop in, the girls that are working are smiling and laughing and they seem to know their customers personally. Coffee quality is always delicious. Only negative thing is that crepes do tend to take a long time when they are busy, but that is understandable. read more

i come in with my kiddos on tuesdays and a few other days. the staff are always super sweet girls. i like the atmosphere of the place, and the coffee is always delicious. i would say the thing that needs improvement is that it gets so hot in there on sunny days, and there are often so many loud and unruly children running around. read more

The 16oz mocha was well crafted temp wise & good balance of espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate. I also opted for the roast beef panini without the horseradish. Generously filled with roast beef, havarti, mayo, and red onion on savory focaccia. It was provided with au jus and I selected potato salad versus chips. The au jus was not salty, so after dipping, I also sipped the hot broth. Very flavorful and filling. The other panini half I'll have to take home. The veggie sandwich was also great, featuring a tasty combination of goat cheese, sweet potato slices, and pesto. The bakeshop is very family-friendly. We noticed they provide crayons for young kids. We'd love to come back earlier next time to try their cakes and coffee!
