What a cute neighborhood spot! I was met with the delicate scent of cinnamon as soon as I walked in, and took this as a good sign. In a quieter section of Greenwood, Coyle's has plentiful seating inside and out and friendly staff. The mismatched colorful chairs lend a cheerful and casual ambiance. Coyle's seems to be both a coffee shop and a bakery, with a small selection of pastries and locals sitting around happily chatting. I got a savory scone which was really exceptional - tender and fluffy as a biscuit with a light and crisp exterior and lovely buttery and cheesy savoriness inside with palpable fresh dill. We visited Coyle's Bakeshop around noon on a Sunday, and it was very popular. It was hard to find a seat, and popular items were already running out. (In addition to fresh items, they also sell jams, house-made marshmallows, and frozen baked goods to make at home!) We ordered a croissant and a veggie sandwich, and both were delicious. The croissant was perfect--so crispy and crunchy on the outside, with soft, buttery layers inside. The veggie sandwich was also great, featuring a tasty combination of goat cheese, sweet potato slices, and pesto. The bakeshop is very family-friendly. We noticed they provide crayons for young kids. Delicious macchiato and delicious pastries. I did get me some of their granola before heading out on a hike. I love visiting local coffee shops, especially when I'm in town in different places so this one is no different. I love the chandelier in the coffee shop. It did add to the ambience. Service was nice, quick and helpful. I love the vibes that this coffee shop gave off. Local bicyclists riding by making pitstops to get their caffeine fix and some baked goods before heading out on their commute. Definitely will visit again. read more

Food - came late on a Sunday and they were running a little low on things. Ended up with a chocolate croissant. I felt more sweet than savory today, and most of their items are on the savory side. Croissant pretzel. Savory scones. Focaccia. My Choco croissant was pretty good but I wish there was a little more chocolate inside. I also got a London fog which was the perfect temp. Very tasty scones! We both tried the 3 cheese dill scones. The servers were working their butts off to get everything out quickly and correctly so I appreciated them. I always hear great things about Coyle's and finally got to check it out today--for me it lives up to the hype and then some! The shop is tidy with a minimalist but cozy vibe and counter service. There are lots of spots to sit, which I liked (I feel like a lot of local bakeries just have a table or two as an afterthought). We were a bit late in the day so selection was a bit picked over but we snagged the last kouign-amann (so crispy and buttery with wonderful crunchy caramelization), and a flourless brownie (rich with a really interesting almost umami flavor). I love that the pastries are generally pretty small so you can sample a few without getting stuffed. There are giant, decadent slices of cake and puffs of meringue that I will have to try another time. I am excited to add this place into my regular rotation! read more

It's not as fancy as other bakeries but I like the variety of products here, including several kinds of layer cakes, scones, and flaky pastries. I had the millionaire's shortbread and the carrot cake. They both were very good and decently priced, compared to other bakeries. The bakery has a nice seating area and I also like the cute seats right outside too. Staff are friendly. How I heard of this place: It's in the neighborhood, so we often walk by Coyle's, but never felt the push to go inside. On a recent visit from an out of town guest, we decided to give it a go, as it's one of the only cafes in our 'hood which we haven't yet tried. Type of cuisine: Coffee and house-made pastries. Ambiance: Quaint and minimalist, the space includes a street-front windowed barquette around the front of the establishment, a few other tables at booth-like settings graced the space around the order and display counter. Service was friendly and warm, pastries plentiful and display nicely presented. Interior seating taken, we opted for one of the outdoor tables and chairs under the small overhang on the sidewalk. The cool bench and mini desk seating, which was always our favorite part of the cafe is no longer there. What I ordered: For me, a 12-ounce mocha ($6.20) and seasonal rhubarb danish ($5.50). For my sister, an Americano and ham & gruyere croissant. For the littlest one in our party, an orange-vanilla Italian soda and Swedish shortbread (with caramel & chocolate). What I loved: The tartness of the rhubarb on the danish. It's a nice bakery, although I must say, I find it overpriced in general. The coffee is OK. My favorite thing is their savory scones. What I like to do is get their frozen bag of the savory scones, which is 4 scones for... I am not sure but I think it was $15 when I went last. Anyway, then you've got them at home and you can bake them up easily and they are delicious! Warning if you go on a weekend, it's very popular. There will be a line and parking is very difficult. If you live in the area, you better just walk. As to the ambience, it's kind of sparse. I remember it being a little cold in there too. Walked in around 7:45 this morning (8/12) for the first time. The pastries looked delightful, so I ordered a chocolate croissant and a seasonal fruit croissant. I also ordered an espresso macchiato. Both were delightful, one of the best chocolate croissants I've had in the US, and the baristas pulled a wonderful espresso shot for my coffee. Cute bakery in the Greenwood area, was pretty busy on a weekend visit. The display case is packed with delicious looking food so took a while to choose. I ended up tasting a pain au chocolat and a kouign amann (since they are bite size!). The pain au chocolat was cold and didn't have a buttery and crumbly texture which was disappointing. The bite size kouign amann was incredible and I wish I had two of those! My Americano was also very good. I was surprised how reasonably priced it was but likely wouldn't try their version of a pain au chocolat again. Maybe the croissant has better texture. It's a little difficult to find on street parking especially on the weekend, but that's not their fault. Will be back to try a slice of cake and update based on that experience. read more

Cute local bakery! I went on saturday morning at 8:30am and you could tell locals frequent this place. I got a few pastries to share: - Savory bisuit: crumbly, but wish it was flakier (had more of the bread-like texture). Absolutely delectable treats. I received a cretzel and cream puff, both of which had me foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog. The cretzel was salty to perfection; crisp and had savory notes of rosemary. The crackle top cream puff was filled with a whipped pumpkin cream that screamed "fall is here" in the most glorious way. The food was stand out excellence. Even on a weekday the Bakeshop was very busy so my mom and I were uncomfortable with the number of people vying for a seat. I don't feel this was an issue with the Bakeshop, but rather the mood on that day. We'd come on the recommendation that the croissants rivaled Paris and we felt the comparison was well deserved! The lemon chiffon cake was not fabulous, but pretty good. They gave it to me in a box that was pretty much shrink-wrapped, so I didn't see it in the store, but it turned out to look quite nice. The way I saw one picture of this place and got in the car and drove. I'm a whole sucker when it comes to a cute cafe. The way a pastry + espresso can pull a good chunk of negativity out of my day. We pulled up about 30 minutes till closing time. (Also like why do cafés close so early on Sundays, I'm tryna vibe out yall). I got a savory scone, millionaire bar, and a non fat latte. When I tell you I felt like I was in Gilmore Girls. The aesthetic of this place is giving expensive skincare routine meets cozy baker. She's classy, simple, and chic. The pastries are all classics. While the pastry is good, the service and attitude at this place is consistently TERRIBLE. Not only did my Mezzo coffee order not come with the fizzy water it should, but when i asked for that water, the server visibly rolled her eyes behind my back (my friend saw this) and then actually walked behind the back curtain and disappeared! When i asked again, another server very begrudgingly gave it to me. Nor did they give me a spoon. Their attitude every time with everything is basically F* you. The baked goods are all AMAZING. Never had a bad one here. If i'm hosting at my place, I love to stop in and pick up somethings. The cherry almond croissant is my current fave. I would say the coffee is just OK though. A cappuccino is my go to order anywhere and here the espresso has that very bitter/burnt taste to it. I enjoyed the pistachio croissant and the cardamom kouign amann. The pastry was flaky and the flavors stood out well. I was especially impressed by the strength of the cardamom in the kouign amann. The carrot cake was also good; I liked that they added dates and walnuts. I was hoping and expecting more from this bakeshop. I adore plain and chocolate croissants. I purchased a few here because my regular spot is closed for renovations and this spot is a bit closer to home. Don't get me wrong, they were tasty but not as buttery as I like. The laminated layers of dough were there. The top outer layer was slightly darker than what I consider the usual which make it flaky and a bit tasteless. But, the overall flakiness buttery yumminess just wasn't there for me. I had higher hopes for this place. Parking is a bit touch and go depending upon what time of day and the customer services was excellent. In a jam, I'd go here again but it's not my number one. Pretty good! Recommend getting here early. We went on a Sunday morning and there was a small line. Coffee was good. Hot chocolate had a homemade marshmallow that was really good. The hot chocolate itself it was fine. We tried a variety of their treats, it was all good! There was one cake slice we wanted to get but it was $9 for a slice which felt pretty steep. But mostly everything else was in the $2-$5 range. It seems their menu changes but I personally liked their millionaires shortbread the most. As of 7/18/21 it is to go only and there are no options to order ahead. You have to wait in line outside. Some people bring their dogs to wait in line so if you're not a fan of pets, maybe try somewhere else. Service was pretty good, you instantly get your food and if you get drinks you wait by the back door. Hours are limited but this seems to be a local favorite. read more

Cute bakery in Greenwood with solid croissants but everything I have had here has been very good. My go to is usually an almond croissant, and Coyle's has a version with hazelnuts which might be even better. Also love the canale as well as the ham and gruyere croissants (pet peeve - ham and American cheese croissants). Only downside is that prices are about the same as other top bakeries, but the size of the croissants are smaller. The place is take out only but they do have a few tables outside as well. There's some tough competition on the same street, but Coyle's holds its own! read more

They also alternate pastries and change it up so things are not there forever. Enjoy the ones that I seasonal especially! I think they make everything from scratch?
