Staff is always friendly, attentive and we notice when they are busy which is most of the time that the staff always help each other out, which means we never wait long for our fresh hot food! I atmosphere retro diner style excellent food every time I would highly recommend their span in grief south never disappoints always excellent better than I can find even on the Danforth in Toronto Toronto has a real star. Here they cater to senior citizens. Their prices are more than fair for the complete all inclusive meals Their service the second and none and would highly recommend. They have several vegetarian options, but the best is their Greek dishes being a vegetarian their vegetarian burger is also excellent and you can get it for a dollar more with cheese and mushrooms never disappointed no matter how busy they are. Really want to leave a 3 and a half star rating. Just above "meh". Our waitress was terrific. We both had burgers, and they were so-so. Quite dry, but covered in enough gooey stuff to make them okay to eat. Waited quite a while to get our check (a pet peeve of mine) and then waited a longer time to pay it. Then, it turns out they want you to pay up front but don't actually tell you that. I personally think that would be useful information to put on the check. (I've lived in Canada for 9 years and that is the first restaurant I've ever been at that has wanted you to pay on the way out. It's more common in the States) read more

Per my daughter, this place is pretty much what she expected for a Canadian diner. I personally found it to be quite delightful. I had the fish tacos - fresh & good. Maybe a tad salty. Honestly alot of sarnia restaurant come and go but John has been here forever. The price has gone up a little with breakfast about $10-$13. The meal itself is very hearty (huge portions). They have alot of choices on types of bread, eggs are done right (poached or sunny side up). Would recommend the big john sausage breakfast. Honestly you cant go wrong. Might have to wait a bit on weekend branch depending if you get there before church ends. Plenty of parking. The service is decent. Remember you have to get up to pay if credit/debt. read more

Restaurant is nice and clean and spacious as well. Now for the food, seeing it was a Greek restaurant i was excited especially seeing they had pork souvlaki on the menu. There was so much fat on the pork, wasn't cooked enough and had absolutely no flavor. The Greek salad was okay, they used oil and vinegar for the dressing. Salad also lacked authentic Greek flavoring (spices). They also chopped the lettuce into such little pieces you had to scoop it up with your fork. The fries were okay, they had no poutine? In Canada no Poutine, très américain. If i wanted just french fries i would have stayed in the states. The chicken rice soup was good, the broccoli soup was okay. The "Chicago" gyro had lettuce, that's a new one for me. It was processed gyro meat not off the gyro rotisserie. Once again not very Greek. The tzatziki had to be one of the worst i have ever had. It was thick like frozen custard, and sadly once again had absolutely no flavor. How is it possible for a Greek place to miss on all things Greek? Most of the people around us were eating breakfast, so if i come back I'll try the breakfast as i will never attempt a lunch or dinner. read more

Johns is a long established local restaurant. Now I can't tell you if their lunch and dinner items are any good because if I can get breakfast....I get bfast!!!! I can tell you their breakfasts are one of the best in town. (Evidentially the popular Pemale bacon is great. I'm a veggie so I don't eat it but be warned they only have Pemale they don't serve the other traditional bacon if that's your cup of tea). Service is good and the value and prices are good. The only downside is they tend to get very busy as they as a very well known and popular establishment. That and their location is a pain sometimes! Otherwise with a little planning on times, it's very worth while to eat here! read more

My partner in crime has a porc intolerance, so you'd think that going out for breakfast would be dangerous, especially at a place KNOWN for its bacon. However, John's restaurant was very accommodating. Having allergies in her family, our gracious waitress helped us choose off the menu and suggested alternatives. He had the best Eggs Benedict of his life. My Veggie Omelette was absolutely delicious with red and green peppers, onions and broccoli(!). I have never thought fo putting broccoli in an omelette before, but now I am a convert. We will be returning soon! read more

Arrived after a long, tiring prom night looking for a nice breakfast. Came in around 2 with some friends and we were all feeling chocolate milkshakes. we ordered them from a younger girl who we never saw again. an older lady came up to us and took our food order and then asked what we wanted to drink. we told her we already ordered with someone else. the older lady came back with 3 vanilla milkshakes. that was the first straw. my friend got a pancake mean which came with sausage. she didn't get the sausage until she flagged down the waitress later on. meals were not well done and sloppy. chocolate chip pancakes did not have chocolate chips in them, merely in a shitty pile on top. sausages were horrible. ordered another chocolate milkshake to see if the order would actually come back correctly. after waiting 15 minutes, we were given a glass of chocolate milk. overall very bad service, no checking on throughout the meal. the people seated across from us were checked on but we were not. possible age discrimination. it was not busy at all and there was consistently 5 staff members stationed behind the counter, doing absolutely nothing. very uncoordinated, inattentive servers. bad food. not good. read more

John's is an institution in Sarnia...They have an excellent breakfast menu, with fast, top quality food. It can be noisy and fast paced when it's busy, but it's busy for a reason. It's great. I don't go there for dinner or lunch too often, but their greek food is excellent. It's a diner, through and through, but has a selection of drinks, and is very inviting. We booked a reservation for John's for Thanksgiving, the place was packed and people were out the door waiting to get in, the food was awesome and the waiter we had was so efficient considering they were swamped. He got every order right and always had a smile on his face so needless to say we will certainly be going back, sorry I didn't get his name but he got an awesome tip. Been crossing the border to come here since I was a kid - usually as a first stop before heading to London, Hamilton (do people go to Hamilton?) and Toronto. As others have indicated, this place is always been known for its bacon, but it's that all-around great food and service keeps me coming back. The interior was redone a few years back, and it was a great improvement, in the dining room area is much more spacious than it used to be. All in all, you just can't go wrong here - good food at decent prices. read more

I have been going here for a very long time. I usually just get the breakfast. John's is a basic family restaurant that has good food and service. Bit crowded at times. Sometimes have difficulty finding a parking place and sometimes have a short wait for table. read more
