Wow, my experience here was unbelievable - and not in a good way! When our group (14 people) was seated we were provided with the lunch special menus. Then, after placing our orders, a gentleman (presumably the owner) came running over to tell the waitress we were not allowed to order from that menu. We were told that since we had so many people, we would have to order of the regular menu...of course, the regular menu had the same meals, just at a higher price (oh, and they didn't include the sides). Most of us ordered the same dishes, we just ended up paying more and getting less simply because there were more of us! What kind of business model is this!?! On the bright side, the waitress was phenomenal and the food was pretty good, though the portions could have been a bit larger, especially given that they should not have been"lunch size" portions! read more

The wait staff is rude. Chicken park pizza tasted like it had been sitting for days. Old dried out chicken and no sauce. Our meals were disgusting. I received the wrong order. The chicken Murphy was so spicy couldn't be eaten. Never ever will i go back there again. Oh and by the way thanks for ruining my dads bday dinner. Went here last night with Mom and wife. Its BYOB, which is great because you can bring your own favorite wine. There is a huge menu of Italian foods, mostly red sauce. We had Sausage and Peppers on Penne Pasta (great sausage), Manicotti , and a combination plate of several different pastas including eggplant Parm. All came with soup or generous salad. Flavor was excellent, service prompt. Great, inexpensive Italian food. Tab for three was about $37. Took home leftovers too! The combination of good food, serving size and modest price gives this place 5 stars. We saw many plates go by that looked appetizing; clams, mussels and other pastas. This place needs more exposure on Yelp. Oddly a search of restaurants in the Manchester Twp., NJ area does not bring it up. Why?? read more

I'm originally from Brooklyn NY. The hardest thing to find in New Jersey has been good Pizza and Italian Food in general. I was Thrilled when I found Cafe Napoli.. Their Pizza is Excellent! And the bonus is that their Food is Also Excellent! (Except the Meatballs) I go to this Resturant at least once a week! Wish they delivered though. But.... I have been frequenting this location for more than a few years now. Their food quality for our orders has been stable and rewarding. If you were to visit a neighboring store you may even hear that this is one of the best pizzarias in the area. Their food is good. This was my first visit, my wife who is Gluten-free came once before an had a wonderful Ragu Bolognese over gf penne pasta. We normally go to our standard hide away for a Sunday pasta dinner, but she insisted to come here, well I had Zuppa di Prece over linguine. A Caesar salad And of course being BYOB a bottle of my favorite red wine. Service was as fast as one would expect for a crowded 6PM Sunday evening, our waitress was cordial and friendly. I was concerned by a few negative reviews, but sometimes you can never please some dinners. The food was hot and came soon after we finished our salads. The presentation on my plate was wonderful, pasta was not over cooked mussels,clams,shrimp calamari & scungilli were extremely tender, the sweetness of the crushed plum tomato light marinara sauce made me eat it all. No prisoners to go home for both of us. My only negative comment is that it's noisy, and wearing hearing aids doesn't help! A four star for this visit, and we will come again. We have always had delicious dinners at Café Napoli. Not so yesterday - the best thing we had was the bread. Two of us started off with "shrimp bisque" which was watery and smelled fishy - large bowl contained two very small fish. We could not even eat it. Next was our order of stuffed mushrooms. They were cold and undercooked - even wet and mushy - so cold that the cheese did not even melt. Two of us had the eggplant rollatini which had always been very good, but this time the sauce had a peculiar taste. We don't know what happened in their kitchen, but the food was not up to its usual standard. It will be a long time before we venture there again. read more

I've never seen worse customer service. Had a reservation for 8 people and when I arrived I was told it was going to be a 20 minute wait before being seated. After waiting 35 minutes I watched 2 groups of people seated before me. I know that one of those had no reservation. When I asked why they were seated first I was told that it was the managers decision. I left disgusted and went Luigi's, which made me feel very welcome! read more

I have never ever been to a restaurant where you could not take home left overs, feel sorry for the wait staff having to inform customers. I think the owners should come to the table and give customers that type of information. If dessert, soup or salad are included in the price the owner considers it complimentary and you cannot take it home. Evidently he has no concerns for senior citizens in the US and definitely no concern for patrons who may have lost their home to the Super Sandy Storm and may want to take food home. If soup, salad or dessert are included with a meal they are not complimentary they are included in the price. This practice may be common in Naples but not in the USA. I can not imagine he would throw food out rather than let the customer take it home, so does he re serve the food?? read more

The food is very good here!!! I love the Monterosa best and the house salad dressing. The bread is always warm. I think the waitresses are friendly and efficient. It's byob which is also handy if you like wine with dinner. Manga! And enjoy!! read more

we were a party of 4 and waited for 10 to 12 minutes without so much as an acknowledgement from a hostess or anyone! Seldom does one encounter such rudeness. Recently ordered their pasta dish "Del Boscaiolo". I don't know how to pronounce it but I sure know how much I love it. I ordered it with capellini....I know...many people prefer the sturdier pastas with this sauce but I love thin pasta...This was a to go order and came with salad and house dressing which was delicious. The salad was fresh and crisp, the dressing is outstanding. The pasta dish was perfect, the sauce is unique, I definitely recommend for people to try it. I have also had Pasta Alla Panna, Bolognese, Pasts 3P, and Carbonara....You wont be disappointed with any of these. Their pizza is also very good. Fairly thin crispy crust, sauce is very good...I have not had any of their chicken/veal dishes but that is because I cannot resist their pasta sauces! Why the hell is it so hard to get a slice of pizza..we tell the girl at the counter that since you don't have any sausage slices we want a sausage pie, the guy says 10 minutes, we wait 15 minutes and then the guy tells us we have to pay by the slice because he misunderstood and made us a slice pie by accident..I tell him I ordered a sausage pie and want to pay for just pie, it's not my fault the idiot taking the order can't comprehend the English language.. he says that a "slice pie" is a little bigger so he has to charge us by the slice. Fine, I paid for my drinks and left.. we have gone their twice a week for a month now and will never be back.. If you want average tasting Italian food served by a lousy staff that would clearly rather be somewhere else, by all means try Cafe Napoli. The staff couldn't get drink orders right (we simply ordered a water, a sweet tea, and an unsweet tea). All three of us ended up with the wrong drink. Not a huge deal, but a preview of what was to come. Several of the staff acted like we were intruding when we asked for drink refills. Had a basket of bread tossed onto our table (yes, it was tossed!), with a "here ya go" from a busboy who obviously hates his job. We then waited approx 30 minutes for our entrees, and my son's food took an extra 10 minutes. He ordered 2 slices of pizza, so no idea why it took so long to heat them up. As I said before, the food was average, at best. You're better off going to Olive Garden. If I could give this place no stars, I would. Oh, and the men's room was flooded. Horrible experience. As a benefit it is a BYOB restaurant. Their menu is ok but their service can sometimes be a challenge. I reserved their elevated dining area in the rear for a group on a Thursday evening and paid an extra few dollars for each entre. We had a 6 pm reservation but had to wait almost 30 minutes to be seated. The manager on duty was vey rude. Their portions are ample but not big. Its ok but I'd go to Esposito's, Joey's, Italy's Best or Via Roma before I would go back here. read more

It's Friday night during Lent, so we wanted a tasty seafood dinner. We ordered takeout from Cafe Napoli and we were delighted with our dishes!! Started off with the seafood salad which you could tell was freshly made. I especially like the crunchy shrimp in the salad along with the scungilli, calamari all surrounded by fresh celery, garlic and red peppers in olive oil mixture. It's the best seafood salad we ever had. Only way to top that was with more seafood. So the Pescatore was our choice. You name it, it was in there - lobster tail, shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops in a delicious garlic marinara sauce. We were in heaven. Really delicious dinner. Will be back for more! read more

Was there at the same time as "Shawn M" and his terrible, inaccurate review of cafe napoli...first off, I was there when this conversation happened. His account of it is 100% not what happened. The customer wanted sausage slices and was told there would be a wait so that a fresh pie for slices could be made. He also said he wanted 4 slices once it was ready. Not until after that he decides he wants the whole pie..obviously he is the one who can not understand the English language because 4 slices means just that..it does not mean that he ordered a whole pie...so Shawn m if you are angry that you can't just get your way in every situation there are better ways to express your anger than using derogatory words and calling people idiots. I have been coming to cafe napoli for years and never once saw anyone there act in a way like you did and all the workers there are never anything except, kind, friendly and accommodating. read more

My wife and I are of Italian descent and naturally we love to cook and eat. We both recognize and appreciate excellent food. We have eaten at many high scale restaurants including Mario Battali's and Lydia's Felidia in NYC. The chef at Cafe Napoli prepares his pasta perfectly and it is served piping hot. Since moving to this area 2 months ago, we have eaten here 5 times, and each time our dinners were outstanding. Nice portions at a very reasonable price. A couple can have a very satisfying meal here and not spend $30.00. On 2 occasions, I asked for a dish that was not on the menu and it was made perfectly without any extra charge. They also make excellent, thin crusted pizza here which these days is hard to find. read more

Go here without an attitude and with more time to spend than a lunch break. The staff is pleasant and eager to please. Everything is made to order and takes time, more than usual if there is a large party they are trying to serve at once. Go with friends so there is conversation. Bring a couple of bottles of wine and enjoy a glass with an appetizer like one order of fried calamari shared as well as the warmed bread. You won't wait long for that. In due time your soup or salad will arrive while they prepare your entree. The pastas are delicious and quite reasonable, as are most entrees. We often spend an hour and a half there enjoying our meal and dinner talk and are never rushed. Without an Italian grandmother I don't have a favorite sauce to compare to but my friends of that background give it thumbs up. Is it the Ritz? No. But its like getting a two-for compared to many.
