Cafe Nola I accidentally ended up at this spot - I intended to go somewhere else for brunch, but mixed up the locations. Since I was a solo diner, it was best to sit at the bar (plus, there were no tables available). I ordered the french toast that comes with eggs and bacon, and I also ordered a biscuit and a roasted potatoes sides. The food here is simple, but cooked well. The french toast was thick and fluffy (it came with an apple cinnamon compote that I didn't eat much of), bacon was crispy, the biscuit was buttery, the eggs weren't too runny or hard, and the potatoes were soft with crispy skin. The menu isn't super creative or innovative, but it's good fuel to start your day.

Cool vibe! We came late night and just had beers. The kitchen was closed but I do want to come back for dinner soon. There's a stage for music and the inside is really nice!

Omgggg. Loved this place! Was visiting from out of town and wanted a cute cafe! Was told it is also open late night with a band on the weekends. Would love to come back and see it. We did have to wait, for two people it was about a 20 minute wait, not too bad. the seasonal latte was amazing! Obsessed. The biscuits and gravy weren't due for! I love up north now and don't often get these. When I am back in town again I will be stopping by for sure! My new favorite brunch spot in Fredrick. also at a good price!

A hard pass for me. Stopped by with my two friends today for brunch. We all drove about 30-40 minutes to meet up and try this cafe out, and boy did it disappoint. We were greeted by a host with bangs who told us the wait would be 15 minutes and to wait in the vestibule. Okay no problem. The vestibule was cold and people filtered both in and out from the street, letting the cold windy air in. We waited and waited watching people enter the cafe. Thats when we noticed the hostess had seated 9 parties (larger than our 3) before us. At which point I walk back in to check in. The hostess looked alarmed that we are still waiting, even though we had done exactly as she instructed and waited out of the way. That is when I had asked if they took reservations, to which she replied "no". I had checked myself the day before. So she admitted to seating the SEVERAL parties before us within that statement. When we were finally seated, we were quite literally shoved in a corner by a door. My friend and I could not feel our toes by the end of our meal and catch up. (I had on Uggs) Our server was friendly and attentive. The food and coffee was good, but not good enough to EVER return. The cafe also appeared dirty and the bathroom spelled of mildew.

As a server, you generally are able to judge your own server to a fuller extent, and usually more harshly as you can hold them to the same expectations you're held to. Sam W was a great server, and made my first time at Cafe Nola an amazing experience. I got the banana foster hot latte and side of biscuit w/ sausage gravy and they were both delicious. The hostess at the front was also really nice and welcoming.

We stopped in after a hike and wanted to get some brunch. This place was very busy but we were seated pretty quickly. The place is simple but comfortable decor. Service was ok. The food was good, straightforward and simple but the taste was good. Definitely a nice place to stop.

Stopped by Nola this weekend for a quick breakfast with a friend. The space is lively and welcoming to all. We were seated faster than I anticipated for such a busy morning! I got an iced coffee with almond milk which was really refreshing and didn't feel too caffeinated/bitter. I had the French toast, eggs and sausage. The texture of the sausages was not my favorite but the dish was filling. My French toast was crispy on the edges and soft in the middle! My friend had the turkey club and said it was really protein packed, the side of fruits were fresh too. I really appreciated the inclusivity of cafe Nola, the quick but kind services and simple breakfast/lunch options.

Do they still have open mic nights on Mondays?

Could I just get a black bean burger here aside from the black bean wrap/beyond burger?

Is their bar open weekday mornings for mimosas?

I believe it is, there was no time restriction on drunks but we prefers mimosas close to 11 am on a weekday.

There's a lot of potential here, but when your wagyu burger costs more than Le Diplomate's iconic burger in DC, I'm expecting something amazing. Every ingredient was very seasoned on its own, but when combined, the burger was overwhelmingly salty. I could barely taste anything besides salt. The cocktails were also overly sweet, and I regrettably had to send them back a couple of times. That said, our waiter's service was excellent. But this place needs a lot of improvement. Way too salty, too greasy, and overpriced.

They start you with warm complementary bread with butter. The filet mignon was our favorite dish with soft meat and mashed potatoes. The sauce was a little sour to complement the meat. The linguini in the seafood linguine was cooked soft so it's good for little kids, but if you would like it more al dente, you'll probably have to let them know. There were 3 mussels, 2 scallops and several shrimp all cooked well. The green beans were cooked so they were still crunchy. Some of mine were a bit too undercooked for me. Wish there was more crab in the Maryland crab soup since I saw a lot of vegetables. It was pretty spicy which wasn't noted on the menu. The crème brûlée was cooked very well. It was cooked perfectly and paired with a very flavorful sauce. Highly recommended! * The Dessert: Finished with the coconut cake. It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!
