First time dining at Wilcom's on a packed New Year's Eve evening and we loved the food, wine and service. What a great value as well and all courses were excellent. We met the new owner and her daughter, both charming and welcoming. We will definitely come back soon.

This is a smallish restaurant so reservations are recommended. The staff was very friendly. I heard they just changed ownership so there have been some challenges there. The menu is intriguing and deliciously curated. The dining area is cozy but fancy at the same time. The food is really good and you can tell they use quality ingredients. Our table has the burrata caprese salad, wedge salad, stuffed shrimp, shrimp scampi, shrimp and grits, stuffed flounder and spinach pesto linguine. We all enjoyed our dishes and I was impressed. I can see why it is loved by the locals.

This quaint restaurant is located at the old 75 and 80 drag strip. The restaurant has been reimagined from the no frills roadhouse it used to be for several decades. With limited seating, reservations are highly recommended. The menu has a range of options but a nice focus on Peruvian. The wine, beer, and cocktail selection offer plenty of options. The service was attentive but not pushy. We started with the Boom-Boom shrimp. The order comes with 12 small shrimp with a light breading that fell off easily. The pink Peruvian sauce lacked the bold flavors I expected. The seafood stir fry was surprisingly tasty and a generous serving. Shrimp, calamari, scallops with vegetables, in a Peruvian red sauce with jasmine rice. The basque cheesecake was light with fresh berries and a drizzle of strawberry sauce, a perfect ending.

I've been here twice--and both times, the food was great! The all-you-can-eat brunch (that I tried before Covid) was fantastic. I haven't had it recently, so I'd like to try it again. I recently went to lunch with some ladies. Once again, the food was great. The place is unassuming. (I remembered it from its former days as a biker bar.) The only thing that could be improved in the dining room was that there was a speaker playing music right above our table. Once we requested the music to be turned down by the waiter--the problem was solved. I would call this a hidden gem in Monrovia!

We stopped in for Sunday brunch, and it didn't disappoint. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is one of my favorite parts of dining downtown. We ordered the brunch special. (Not pictured: the Caesar salad, which is a must every time, and the short rib poutine--another favorite.) I had the blueberry muffin French toast with blueberry sorbet, and I'm honestly drooling just thinking about it again. My friend got the biscuits and sausage gravy with a fried egg, and it was absolutely delicious too. If you haven't been here for brunch yet, you're missing out. And if you're looking for dinner, run--don't walk. The Wine Kitchen has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Frederick, and it never disappoints. It reads like something someone who actually frequents the restaurant would write rather than a polished promotional review.

They start you with warm complementary bread with butter. The filet mignon was our favorite dish with soft meat and mashed potatoes. The sauce was a little sour to complement the meat. The linguini in the seafood linguine was cooked soft so it's good for little kids, but if you would like it more al dente, you'll probably have to let them know. There were 3 mussels, 2 scallops and several shrimp all cooked well. The green beans were cooked so they were still crunchy. Some of mine were a bit too undercooked for me. It was cooked perfectly and paired with a very flavorful sauce. Highly recommended! * The Dessert: Finished with the coconut cake. It's a little bit off 70, but not bad. First off, this restaurant has an incredibly oversized parking lot. Maybe the restaurant has areas I didn't see, but I was a little bemused. Inside, it's decorated a bit like an old lady house with country accents. It's welcoming and nice, if a little old. I was seated and served quickly. My waitress was great. I ordered French onion soup and a bison burger with sweet potato fries. The French onion soup came out first. It had a huge layer of cheese on top, but it tasted like white cheddar. The soup itself was good at first but started getting bitter. I discovered a huge bay leaf in it. That explains that. Guys, leaving a bay leaf hidden in French onion soup is a violation of Article 35(2) of the Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions. My sweet potato fries were seasoned with a chipotle cinnamon blend. It was weirdly sweet and clashed with the burger. I didn't care for it and honestly feel like if you're going to season with something weird, you should be abundantly clear. The burger was a disappointment. It was fairly basic. It was cooked right, but every so often I would get a burst of salt. I suspect the meat was salted and not well mixed. My burger, fries, and side of soup came to over $40. I am honestly being more critical of them because of that. At that price point, I expect REALLY good, not salt pockets, a left-in bay leaf, and weird seasonings.

We drove up on a Saturday late afternoon in Aug 2025 and found parking across Main Street. There are other free lots nearby and sometimes a free shuttle around town on Sat and Sun. While waiting for the music, we staked out a table among some that people had reserved ahead of time in front of the wine shop, with other tables just outside the lot and more across the quiet side-street. From the wine shop, we got a nice little pinot noir to take home. They offered plastic glasses and a bucket full of ice, so we could have had that during the concert. They also have beers and ciders, gourmet snacks, and many clever and original accessories and crafts. The wine shop's owner encouraged up to walk to nearby Joe's Deli, and across to the Patapsco Distillery where the band set up under a small canopy, and we also got some food and drink from them for our table. And there's a sweet little ice cream shop across Main Street too! The band played light rock and folk and people were relaxed in conversations and enjoyment of the music. The gentle breeze kept us cool under sun-shielding umbrellas. It brought out the umami flavor of the tuna. I ordered the chef's special very berry sangria. Don't get me wrong, it was very good, but not a noteworthy drink. He rushed us to order, made us uncomfortable when we were deciding what to order, and asked us if we wanted the house made bread. I knew the bread was $5 but he made no mention of it. If I was coming to eat there and was asked if I wanted bread and didn't know there was a charge, I would be upset. It was kind of deceiving, and when the bill came out, shoved the handheld device to pay in my face and I couldn't go over the bill. He told me to put my phone here when paying and that was that. The bill was incorrect and I had to get a manager to fix it (the manger was very friendly and took care of everything). Pretty much everything was a baseline of good enough to order again, but now that I've gone once the things I need again are pretty much all the appetizers and a steak. As for the desserts, they were just ok. I don't think I've ever had a dry olive oil cake, but this one was. The gelato on top made up for it because it was like an added sauce. Finally, our server was ok. He was great with our orders and refilling our drinks. However, he was a little sneaky with asking us the type of water we wanted and if we wanted the focaccia for the table that you had to pay for. He also just rushed my husband through the bill so he could not see if it was accurate and he had added an appetizer that we never got. He was still nice and good waiter. Dogs are allowed here and the locals seem to know each other and the bartenders know their names too. Very nice and homey to go somewhere that everyone knows each other!! Would recommend this place to anyone.

Well it all worked out how it was supposed to because the food, ambiance, and service were great here! Water carafes were provided to the table & we ordered several drinks. All of the cocktails were beautiful, colorful and had curated understated garnishes. I enjoyed the jalapeño lime fizz, one of the non-intoxicants. Food took a little longer than expected but it was worth the wait. The red pepper pesto with linguine was creamy and rich and topped with fresh Parmesan. I only wish I'd had a piece of bread to sop up the sauce at the end! I'd be interested in trying their brunch and lunch options if I'm in the area again. Our server, Tom, was attentive. The bathrooms are clean and nicely warm thanks to a heater. We all had a great time.
