Visited for the first time this morning. I love how homey and comfy the place looks and feels. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Once we received our order, staff asked if everything tasted okay. The cafe is small but cozy enough to sit and enjoy your food and/or drink in. Its also located right on the water, so we stopped and took a stroll while we drank our lattes. I had the strawberry shortcake latte & a sausage, egg, + cheese on wheat toast. I stopped in here with a friend the other day for a good lunch! The inside is very small with limited seating, but there are plenty of benches outdoors on the water to enjoy your food if it is a nice day. It was a little hot for us, but we were able to find seating indoors. We both ordered the Bacon Turkey Avocado Panini. This sandwich also comes with your choice of cheese.The size of the sandwich is pretty substantial and the turkey meat was legit! I would have liked more avocado and less cheese, or even no cheese next time. The cafe is hard to judge just from this one experience and one menu item, but overall the cafe is cute and I would try more menu items if I happened to be in the area again! read more

My husband and I spent this past weekend in Chesapeake City. Since it's a smallish city, we walked over to Cafe on the Bay both mornings. One morning, we grabbed coffees and a muffin to share on our way out of town. The next morning, we grabbed coffees and bagels. The cafe is a little tight inside, but the tables outside that look out onto the water were a great place to enjoy our coffees and a snack. The customer service was also very friendly. What a cute spot! They have a lot of options for drinks, pastries, and sandwiches. It is small inside but they also have outside seating and you can walk to the water. The coffee was very good, but the matcha was not our favorite (wasn't green and just tasted of strawberry syrup). The bagels and pastries were also good! read more

Quaint little cafe to enjoy a cheaper, quicker bite to eat than a sit down restaurant in town. Overhearing a suggestion from a staff member over at the Chesapeake Inn and Restaurant for a better coffee or other cafe beverages I decided to stop in for a Mint Hot Chocolate while watching the boats sail by outside. I can imagine it gets busier during the summer time or during breakfast but that day there were two women enjoy their lunch break when I stopped in and who I can imagine the owner patiently waiting while I took in the menu and asked my question. Within minutes I were enjoy my beverage outside at their sidewalk tables while reading the history of the building that now houses the cafe. They seem to have options for breakfast and lunch served all day and I fully enjoyed my drink roaming the street reading about the history of the area while keeping warm and minty fresh! read more

Stopped in on a Sunday morning and OMG it's so BUSY!! First impressions are it's a cute place but not enough tables or just space in general. Street parking is the only option but you are close to the water. They have a small breakfast to-go menu as well. This cute little BNB place was a pleasant stay! We booked on Airbnb for the night and loved that it was above a diner. The diner itself is small but packed with the best decorations and pastry display. I had the toasted ghost latte and a SEC on bagel. SO GOOD! Our host and the owner of the diner, Tammy, is such a sweet woman and took awesome care of us. I would love to visit this cute and quaint city again and would definitely return here. read more

Cafe on the Bay is my favorite place for breakfast and lunch. My friends and I stop in regularly for breakfast sandwiches and for lunch. Everyone there makes us feel welcome. Tammy is so gracious and treats customers like family. I'd also like to give a special shout-out to Sarah and Jay! As for the food... in addition to the breakfast sandwiches, I especially enjoy the cheesesteaks, the chicken salad wrap, chocolate cookies, and the chili. When the weather is warm we love to sit outside and watch the town go by, or shop in Chick's and the Mercantile. My friend and I go to Cafe on the Bay a few times a week. It is an amazing place! The breakfast sandwich is tasty, and can be obtained with many extras on it, like avocado. The ice tea is made there, and tastes perfect. I love that it is unsweetened! The chocolate chip cookies are also baked there and if you are lucky, you might get them fresh from the oven. The place itself is cozy and decorated for each season. There are also some outdoor seatings, which is a perfect spot to sit and look at the canal. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful! Service was bad, cashier had a bad attitude. I ordered two iced lattes made with cream since they didn't have whole milk, that's weird for a coffee shop. Both iced lattes tasted very watery, i don't know how they could make a coffee made with cream so watery unless they added water or the espresso shots are coming out watery. This coffee shop was so cute! The employees were very friendly and the coffee was delicious. My boyfriend and i are visiting his family in Delaware and stopped by this morning. I got the iced caramel latte (pictured) and he got the hot mocha latte. For food i got the vegan breakfast sandwich on a bagel (also pictured) and he got the sausage and cheese on a bagel. I live a few towns over but I kept hearing about this cafe so I decided to give it a try. We went on a Saturday morning and it was really busy but we still got our order pretty quickly. Everyone was super nice and helpful. We got iced coffees and breakfast sandwiches. The coffee was really good and the breakfast sandwich was near perfect, melty cheese, fresh egg and crispy bacon on a bagel that was to die for. There was tons of cool flavors to try so I will definitely have to come back to this adorable little cafe. They even gave us a pup cup for our dog! read more

I love this coffee shop! The coffee is always great and they have many flavor options. My favorite is honey vanilla with oat milk. Today we got a breakfast sandwich and cheesesteak and both were delicious. The chef even sautéed my veggies for the breakfast sandwich (they are normally raw). What a gem! My boyfriend and I both got the BLT and and ice coffee. It was the best blt I've ever had. Fresh lettuce and tomato, crispy warm bacon, freshly toasted bread and the perfect amount to mayo. If I lived here I would probably make sure to order that sandwich once a week. The iced coffee is really good too. I can't wait to come back. The service was also great! Polite and efficient while following Covid guidelines. The location used to be a fav store I used to visit years ago but I LOVE what they've done for a small little kitchenette cafe. They'd get 5 stars if they offered plant based options too but if you're not plant based, a nice place to get a quick breakfast sandwich, a fancy or plan coffee or tea. Decent prices too, all things considered. The only thing is it is tight quarters so these days, not a fan of being that close to people but if no one else is there, a nice cozy place to enjoy your grub & drink!
