We stayed here for a wedding earlier in the year. I'd never been to this part of the country so I…read morewas very excited to see what the area had to offer. We arrived a few minutes late after fighting Friday traffic out of D.C. The innkeeper, Jane, was very understanding and we made sure to keep in contact with her on our progress. When we arrived she was still there waiting for another couple (and never showed). Jane was very nice and personable and gave us a quick tour of the house which had been in her family since it was built. The short story is that there's lots of history in the house. Beautiful photos, paintings, lamps, instruments, etc. It is really amazing and she is very happy to share with guests what she knows and where it all came from. Our room was comfortable and clean. We had a nice little outside deck if we wanted to step out or let a breeze in.Jane warned us to be sure to keep the door shut at night as bats could pay us a visit. No thank you. Breakfast was ready and waiting each morning and and the food was delicious. Fresh fruit, coffee, eggs, sausage, pastries, etc. Delicious. More than I usually eat for breakfast when at home. She does own two dogs but those are only allowed into the guest area by invitation. She's on-site which was also reassuring as well. I definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area.

Stayed for two nights at Easter 2018. The place was spotlessly clean. (2) Breakfasts were good, homemade, nutritiously balanced, and plentiful. In addition, available in the dining area at any time of the day were juice, fruit, coffee/tea, and cartons of yogurt. (3) Location is excellent. It's a one-block walk from the water and the light house. If you have a room with a balcony at the front of the house, you can watch the moon over the river. (4) B&B hostess is on site, knows the area exceptionally well, and will tell you anything you might ever want to know about Havre de Grace, past or present. Hostess was kind, gracious, and absolutely polite. (5) Negatives: Guest rooms are small, and the mattress I experienced was quite firm. However, regarding the firm mattress, my solution for the second night was to fold a blanket under me. If you don't like a firm mattress, ask the hostess for an extra blanket or two, fold them, and let them be your cushion on the firm mattress. The mattress was _not_ worn or old; rather, it was simply quite firm, and I do not like firm mattresses. Havre de Grace is just the neatest little historic town! In warm weather, this place would be perfect: Of the B&B's in HdG, this place is closest to the water. It's less than a two-block walk to the start of what the locals call "the Promenade," which is the boardwalk along the river. At the same time, in warm weather, it's just a quick few blocks walk to the historic downtown area of Havre de Grace. The house is located on what is called "The Lafayette Trail," something of a historic walk thru and around Hdg. So, my recommendation is positive, but be prepared for a very firm mattress.

We desperately needed to escape Washington, but did not want to spend all evening in the car. Enter…read moreMaria's Love Point Bed & Breakfast. Located on Kent Island overlooking the Chesapeake, this is the perfect getaway. It took us about an hour to drive there from downtown (with no traffic) and was easy to find on a lightly traveled road a few miles from the main highway. The house is massive, but there are only two rooms available for guests. We recommend the Osprey room, which overlooks the bay. In the morning, you wake to a glorious sunrise on the bay. This is soon followed by breakfast carefully prepared by Maria and Ed Peffly, the owners. Each morning we had fresh fruit, and coffee followed by a main breakfast. One morning it was a salmon frittata the next is was blueberry and banana pancakes. The only down side of breakfast was having to muster uncomfortable conversation with the other couple there who were on a romantic getaway. But that is par for the course at a B+B. During the day we walked around in the nearby Terrapin State Park and explored the island. We were there in March, and the usual Kent island riff raff were not to be found. In the evenings we sat under the stars in the hot tub and let the stress slough away. We basically had the run of the house, and although there was one other couple there, we never saw them except at breakfast. The grounds were amazing and at night a herd (15 or so) deer can be seen munching away on the grass. There was a pool, but it wasn't open when we were there. They have a gym and game room that we used once (Who goes to a B&B to use the gym?) What else can I say, for $160 a night (in the off season, you get a wonderful room overlooking the bay, a great breakfast and seclusion from the real world. If I was to conjure criticisms, I would say that the rooms had a bit too much potpourri for our taste and that some of the decor was on the Laura Ashley side, but that is really being picky. This is a real gem. NOTE: I was reluctant to post this review for one simple reason--people will go to and love this place and we'll never be able to book a room again. But we liked the owners so much that we figured that keeping it a secret wouldn't be fair. Let me be frank. By people I mean you loathsome SUV driving butt cracks that make it necessary for rational people to escape DC. Please go to Disney.

To the left and right you and see picturesque views of the Chesapeake Bay. In front of you, you see a massive mansion-esk Bed & Breakfast that was built with extra #love by it's owner. Small architectural flourishes lend to the owners strong eye for aesthetic. A giant white tent 50 yards from the ceremony is where your guests will be partying, and a large stone patio with high bar tables around a small pool is where your guests will enjoy their cocktail hour. A separate small building off to the side houses fully plumbed in bathrooms with granite countertops make this luxurious experience continue in all facets and faucets! Hahahahhahaha - I'm such a dork. The perfect location for a wedding in every way. I mean... when this bed and breakfast was built, the intention was for it to also being a wedding venue. You can tell as there are ground anchors permanently placed around the pool and yard. Just a top notch place! Also Britny's Wedding gets 5 stars! :)
