A friend and I met for breakfast. I had been to this place years ago, but have been living elsewhere. They have a great selection of breakfast items, including a few specials. I ordered the little big breakfast that came with an egg, two pancakes, and either bacon or veggie sausage. I had my egg over easy, the pancakes were oat, spelt and quinoa. I asked for blueberries to be added to the pancakes. Not a problem. I had the veggie sausage which was very tasty. I had hot tea and asked for honey. Also not a problem. The restaurant was quiet with only a few other people there. The service is good. The food is reliable. And the prices are very reasonable. I would definitely return whenever I'm in town. read more

First time here. I'm a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast so I rarely try anything new. Guess I was showing off today. I had the pumpkin french toast. It was moist and tasty. Paired it with well seasoned sausage and some pumpkin coffee. Made for a good Sunday morning meals. Service was prompt and friendly. Interesting breakfast menu at Sinclairs though overall it was average. Norwegian smoked salmon as a variation of Eggs Benedict, similarly Eggs Kennett- eggs and mushrooms on an English muffin. The French toast lacked egg. The cinnamon raisin bread was dry and disappointing as French toast. The pumpkin tasted like an egg was waved at it. Service was very good. Attentive and not intrusive. 3 1/2 stars. Sinclair's is an old school restaurant located on Main Street close to the University of Delaware. We ate breakfast there before we explored the school. Service was efficient. I wish the eggs had a bit more flavor but overall it was a good experience. read more

My fiancé and I like to come here for breakfast while we are in Newark. It's a little hole in the wall that has quick service and good food. This past time we came I got the Eggs Benedict with home fries which was delicious, and my fiancé got the everything omelette and loaded it up! The flavored coffee here is also delicious, she ordered the maple walnut coffee and was head over heels for it! Overall, we always have a good experience here with the friendly owners and waitstaff! Best breakfast staple in Newark. I only lived in this town for 8 months but man is Sinclair's the spot for me! Great coffee and great breakfast options. Cinnamon rolls are amazing-must try! I had a normal eggs, meat, pancake combo and it didn't disappoint. Good service for a small spot, only thing I'd say is that it is real small so there can be long waits. RJ and I were looking for a place for breakfast after we walked 3 miles at the reservoir. We found a parking spot right in front, and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was super friendly. I ordered the special which was a mango salsa omelet, and I think RJ ordered and ham and cheese omelet. My omelet was a little strange, lots of onions in the salsa, and it was actually inside the omelet. I had pictured more mangoes, and that it would be on top. Cute little diner that reminded me of going to my grandmas house. The eggs were really fresh and the pancakes were well made and flavorful. Exploring all the breakfast places in Newark and I would rank this pretty low on the list. To start, the cafe looks like you're eating in your grandmother's tacky dining room from the 50's. However, the staff didn't seem to mind as they were very friendly. Now for the food. It was not a cheap breakfast and I was forced to get either whole wheat pancakes or pumpkin flavored. They apparently don't carry a regular pancake mix. I got blueberry whole wheat pancakes and they were bad. No way to sugarcoat it. They weren't very fluffy and the blueberries tasted like they were just unfrozen. The bacon was decent but they didn't come with the meal; it had to be ordered as a side for a couple more dollars. Based off that experience, I will not be eating at Sinclair's again. As I was paying with my credit card that has a chip in it, my waitress said I had to tell her how much I wanted to tip her because they couldn't go back and add it to these types of cards. I thought that was strange and worth commenting on. Either way I would just stay away from this place. read more

Eggs Benedict are awesome, and their multigrain blueberry pancakes are worth the pants-unbuttoned walk of shame to the car. They're only open for breakfast and lunch, and they close (and give you the stink-eye) promptly at 2pm. If you want lunch, I wouldn't arrive any later than 12:50. Sinclair's is a true Newark staple. What with new restaurants and "developments" constantly popping up around town to appease UD students, I am beyond happy that this cozy, hometown, healthy diner is still thriving after all these years. Their recent decor changes just made this place all the more charming, too. Their pancakes are always great (especially the specials of the day). I normally get the "little big breakfast" or their Eggs Benedict. Oh, and their hot chocolate is beautiful. My only small complaints are that their home fries are hit or miss, there can be a bit of a wait with little room to stand, and if you need a hair-of-the-dog, they don't serve alcohol. Overall, with the wonderful owner always present, great ambiance, and yummy food, it's Sinclaire's small-town charm that makes my heart happy - and I hope it never changes (well, unless it became a farm-to-table, because THAT would be perfection). Sinclair would be the kid in high school everyone makes fun of. The color scheme didn't have rhyme or reason. Greens and whites. The service was interesting. Walking in, I was greeted with a stare from 10 feet by a man behind the counter who appeared to be visually strip searching me. It was awkward. The sign said seat yourself, so I proceeded, with difficulty as I could not find a place to sit that appeared comfortable or in a 'nice' spot in the restaurant. I sat down, looked at the menu that was built by a 1st grader. After I placed my ordered, within 2 minutes it came to my table. Holy crap that was fast! One star for speed! The food is comparable to hospital food. I had the Meat Omelet with turkey sausage. I've eaten hospital food that tasted the same and looked the same. It was good cheap food that was not cheap. Eggs appeared to be premixed and the turkey sausage, I'm pretty sure, was gyro meat. My toast was weighed down with butter and my home fries were too chunky and not seasoned enough. I was pretty hungry so I ate the whole thing. Overall, Sinclairs is a cheap establishment with a price. Everything about it is cheap except the name. Its like buying a used Geo at the price of a Benz. I would have to be extremely drunk or deprived of hospital food to ever come back here. read more

This tacky hole in the wall seems to be frequented by local college students. Had we known that was this was the food we'd get, we'd would have stayed home and make some scrambled eggs and toast. The home fries were overspiced with hot curry powder of all things, and nothing was seasoned well. The wheat toast was good, but that's probably because they didn't make it. Their special today was huevos rancheros, and I'm sure they just slopped on salsa out of a jar onto a small portion of eggs with a slice of cheese, and with toast that was $8. The omelet was barely 4" long, and that platter was about $6. Pancakes were miserable. With OJ, $33 for 3 people, before tip. Where I'm from, we'd get 2x the food, 2x the taste for 4 people for $20. I. Love. Sinclairs. I always order Lisa's eggs with a side of bacon because the bacon is hands down the best bacon I've ever gotten from any restaurant. Thick, crispy, tastes so good. The Lisa's eggs are a nice treat too because many restaurants won't do true poached eggs, I often have to settle for over easy instead. Not here! And the home fries are delicious too! The service is great, they know my order, and when the owner sees it come back he always comes out to say hello. Truly a great place, great staff, and the best breakfast I could ask for. There ratio of the perfect cinnamon blended spices which were covering all of the roll, thank you. First of all BREAKFAST WAS Way to expensive. Breakfast omelet with a side of bacon and coffee for 1 adult and a short stack of pancakes with ham for a child with a 12 oz. cup of milk was almost $ 24.00 before tip !!!!! It was nothing special at all. In fact not very good. The coffee tasted like some cinnamon was added without me asking for it, and the home fried potatoes had a very strange spice also added to them. NOT AT ALL TASTY! If the food was decent I could really over look the decor, but I can not. Looked very old, dated worn out and even leaning on the dive end of the spectrum !
