Had lunch there today & was very disappointed. Had eaten there several times before & was happy with food & service. Today I was not. The quiche I ordered had a strange, tough, semi-crust & it was over cooked & dry. The side of fresh fruit had very unripe fruit. The door to the cafe was open the whole time while were there & it was freezing !! When I asked if they could close the door for a bit & was told no. I could see if it was 80 degrees outside like yesterday but today it was overcast & only around 60 degrees. Lastly, when the check came, they automatically added a 18% tip even tho we were only a party of 2 people !! They actually cheated themselves because I usually tip 20% when I eat out. Tried this place last night after we had dinner across the street. I understand it was 8:40 and place closed at 9 pm. We would have preferred being told not to sit that it was too late, as opposed to what happened. Coffee came fast as did desserts . Worst crepe I have ever had . Was so hard I could barely cut it. I used to love Paris Cafe and eat here regularly but my most recent experience has given me a change of heart. I ordered food for delivery in the middle of busy work day. I work from home and decided to go to the clubhouse in my apartment complex to get work done because I have 2 year old at home. I ordered from Paris because in the past they've been consistently good and I was shocked at what was delivered. The soup was missing almost half the cup, the sweet potato fries were super soggy and stuck together, the weren't any utensils in the bag, so I had no way to eat the soup, and there wasn't a ketchup packet in sight. This is what $21 at Paris Cafe gets you. When I called the manager to let her know, she seemed like she could careless. She said I can come pick up the other half cup of soup, which wasn't an option since I don't have a car at the moment. I explained that to her and she basically said it's not her problem. Now I'm desperately in search of spoon so I can eat the portion of the soup they delivered. This is not how you treat people, loyal customers, or anyone for that matter. Cafe Paris is a quaint little restaurant nestled on Metuchen's Main Street. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the friendly staff and the beautiful atmosphere. The climate is the ultimate spot for a casual breakfast date with your S.O or a for catching up with a friend. We came on a weekday, but I would imagine that this place gets busy on the weekend - somewhat limited seating, but well worth the wait! The menu was extensive and had options for just about everyone ranging from savory to sweet! Being a vegetarian who doesn't eat eggs, it's RARE that I find a brunch spot that offers more than the usual sugary treats (pancakes and waffles) so I loved being able to switch it up with something savory. I was very satisfied with my Sandwich Au Fromage and the boyf thought his Omelette Au Bacon was delicious! We caved and also ordered the Crepe Chocolat D'Amour #NoSelfControl - but sooo worth all those extra calories. I like crepes, but I wouldn't say I love them - but I certainly loved this one... probably the best crepe I've had in my life. I loved Café Paris! We had dinner at this adorable little place in an adorable little town. We loved everything about our experience. The room is charming. It felt like a sweet warm cafe they could actually be in Paris. The table centerpieces and room decor was sweet. Our server was so sweet and helpful. She was quite busy but always remained focused. Pretty disappointed with the food here. We only ordered desserts, as we had eaten right beforehand. We got the Oreo mousse pie and a creme brûlée. The mousse had a weird gelatin texture--almost like jello, and the crumb and topping almost had no taste. It was hard to discern any taste in this pie actually, and wouldn't have known it was Oreo except for looking at it. The creme brûlée didn't have the hard sugar topping, so can it really be considered creme brûlée? Instead, it had a caramel sauce with hard sugar pieces in it. Took my relatives there for lunch. Was disappointed in the side of fruit salad. Besides being small, the fruit was supposed to be fresh but the strawberries were frozen (and defrosting). Came in here for a mid week brunch with a friend and got to know the wonderful owner Leticia while I waited. It's awesome to see an authentic Parisian restaurant in Metuchen. It's beautiful inside with stunning artwork on the walls. I got a crepe which tasted awesome as well as a French Vanilla Latte and Matcha Latte which were both great. There have been times my daughter and I were just going in for coffee and ended up getting a bowl of the butternut squash soup even in the summer! We called ahead to ask if they had bottomless brunch (did not), but were able to bring our own champagne. THEY CHARGED US $26 for a pitcher of orange juice! WITHOUT MENTIONING it. Who would pay $26 for a pitcher of orange juice?! Oh and they gave me fries that resemble McDonalds $1 menu fries. Our bill totaled $94 among 3 individuals. The Good: the quiche and fries were pretty good, nothing that will blow your taste buds away though... The Bad (billing): OK this is where I really get annoyed, why are you hand writing receipts? Especially if you hand writing sucks?! I mean what year are we in? How have you not upgraded your business to print receipts that are legible and clearly show you what you ordered? Restaurants that still give handwritten bills should not be in business. Just take a look at the picture of the bill that I was given. The Bad (food): I tried the chocolate cake was dry and stale like it had been sitting out for a week, when i took my first bite I realized that it was probably the worst cake I've ever had BUT I was wrong, the worst cake/pie I have ever tried (literally the worst cake) was their pecan pie, it was literally disgusting, it is like a giant glob of jam/jelly with pecans on top (look at the pictures for details). The Bad (interior): the place itself is nice (when you strip away all of the ornaments) looks like a cluttered mess. It is "decorated" with way too many trinkets/tchotchkes. Do you really need that many eiffel tower ornaments? The funny part is that no cafe in Paris looks like this. They also gave you a choice of fresh fruit, salad, or fries as a side and their portions were huge! Opted for the fries and they filled half the plate and were thin and crunchy. Service: 3/5 The waiters weren't the friendliest but they weren't rude, so it's fine. My suggestion is that a smile here and there to your customers goes a long way. Ambience/decor: 4/5 It's decorated really cutely inside- their walls have paintings of Paris all over and have a mini Eiffel Tower in the corner. Very cute cafe. This is a very pleasant cafe with a European ambience. The food is very good. They've a very creative menu. All sorts of crepes are served here, as well as soups and sandwiches and deserts. Everything is tasty, with a french influence throughout. On my last visit I had the butternut squash soup and vegetarian burger and they were tasty and well made. There are murals on the wall of Paris and cute little Christmas trees with lights. It is pleasantly decorated. The service is good.  It's BYO, so open your wine, order couple of appetizers and relax. I always have the chicken sandwich with chicken, peppers and mozzarella cheese. The I share a Nutella and strawberries crepe and sometimes a nutty cappuccino at the end. Sooo good! The food was good but the service was a little messy and they also charge a 18% mandatory tip on the receipt. We only went with 2 people and had to tip 18%. On top of the tip, if you use a credit card it's another 4% added. I don't think the mandatory tip should be added to everyone's bill and then we also have to pay a credit card fee as well.
