Everyone enjoyed their meals , and I specifically want to rank mine as 5 stars! I had the spaghetti carbonara and it was as good as you can get in Rome ! We thought we would try the new location since their move from Libertyville. I think they forgot to bring grandmas recipes with them. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatball was incredibly dry. Noodles were cut into pieces. The marinara sauce was bland. I've had better store bought sauce. My husband had the braciole with gnocchi. He felt the whole thing lacked flavor and the gnocchi was barely cooked. This makes us really sad. Knowing that for years they were one of the best. Can't say we will ever be back. I want here for the first time after hearing good things about it. The bartender was very attentive. The bruschetta was fantastic and the best I've ever had. The tortellini with smoked ham and peas (with vodka sauce instead of creamy white sauce) was excellent. The Cosmo martini was very good too. The ambience is very nice and the owner spared no expense. We went last night with a very dear friend to dine at this fine resturant! The owners are Nick and Patty! We sat under a covered patio! They served bread with oil and cheese ! I had a house side salad very good quality greens ! We had bruschetta first a starter ! It was fine! The egg plant was tender and delicious ! The side corkscrew pasta was ok! Came in when I was in the area for business at the recommendation of my manager, who is local to the area. When we arrived at 5pm on a Tuesday it was pretty empty with the exception of a few people at the bar. The parking at the time was plentiful as it has its own parking lot just off the downtown strip in Libertyville. There is a nice patio area with a fire pit that I would imagine would be great during a nice spring evening. The service was decent. Could seem to be a little slow if I you arent engaged in good conversation (i.e. if you had a bad date it would seem slow). I ordered the Tortellini Carbonara and finished with Spumoni. I also had a glass of Brassfield Pinot Nior, which was a decent pour, and a nice flavor. The pasta was great, and enormous. It would be great to share a plate to try different ones or to have almost 3 meals worth for the cost. The Spumoni serving was also very large. It was very good as well. Prices were decent (although, I come from Orange County, California, so I don't have a good grasp on what local food costs in this area). A crowd pleaser of an Italian restaurant! Definitely a good place to take visiting family for a Nice but not Fancy dinner. The ambiance and service were both superb. The dining area was very big and open, with lots of windows letting in natural light. Our server brought out extra portions of bruschetta (we had five people, bruschetta usually has four pieces), they helped us cork our wine bottle and wrapped it up nicely for the drive home, and generally were very friendly and attentive. The food was good! The bread was some of the best I've had in a while. No complaints on the entrees - I got the salmon, which had a nice crusty sear on both sides. It was cooked well, if a bit salty. Others at my table got pasta dishes, which were all delicious. There was a good variety of entrees on the menu, and the portions were incredibly generous - easily enough to feed two in my opinion. Everything came out of the kitchen fairly quickly. Overall, I left incredibly full and satisfied - exactly how I want to feel coming out of an Italian place. read more

This place is in a sports bar with big screen tvs everywhere. We were hoping for a real Italian experience but this was far from it.

If I had an option, I would give this place a 3.5 rating. The fire pit located right before the main doors is a great idea, specially for a cold evening. The interiors are sleek, and the overall service was attentive and efficient. On a Friday night, the place had a lively and happy vibe. We were seated on the patio which was covered and heated (hence, the pictures that I took looked dark red from the red heaters:). Foodwise, my friend and I were able to try the SKIRT STEAK VELASCO and the BRICK CHICKEN. The chicken was cooked perfectly, crispy skin on the outside and juicy meat inside. The spicy lemon sauce was light enough not to overpower the dish and I also loved the brocollini. Unfortunately, the Skirt Steak was a complete disappointment. Besides being cooked right, the dish was bland. The meat did not have any seasonings and we could not taste the white wine garlic sauce at all. The roasted jalapenos gave heat to the dish but that was it, just heat and no flavor. This was a pleasant experience for my first time trying this place out since I have only tried the places along Milwaukee Ave in downtown Libertyville. I like that this is kind of hidden from the town's busy business scene although it is only open until 10pm since the dinner crowd would usually go to the bars or other places down the street (accdg to the bartender). I'll probably come back to try other menu items and sit at the patio area when it gets warmer...probably:) read more

We have tried Cellar 26 before and I have to say this probably will be the last We did the prefix meal, the food and the most part was horrible and cold. The service was lacking in every respect a meal that should only take maybe two hours to 3 1/2 to spend $200 and to get cold food that's horrible. read more

Great Libertyville location off the strip and with its own parking lot. That's unique in Libertyville and worth a star at least. Inside is nice and cozy, bar is well stocked and comfortable. The table service was a little slow considering the volume of customers. Had some calamari to start and that was good. I had the chicken parmesan with a side of spaghetti. The red sauce was thin and bland. The chicken was two thin breaded filets with sauce and a barely melted square slice of cheese. This too was bland and not the most robust presentation. There are other Italian restrauants in the area I prefer. read more

Situated just off the main drag in Libertyville, "Cafe Pom" is a delight and a gem. My husband and I have gone here for "date night" several times as well as taken my parents and friends. The food is always fresh and well prepared. We love the calamari and I've had the fried brussel sprouts recently as well. The eggplant stack is amazing with the reduction of basalmic vinegar. My favorite dinner dish is so good that I can't stray - I get the eggplant parmesan on almost any visit. They have a pretty decent wine selection as well! read more

Very friendly restaurant and beautiful interior. They do absolutely everything right except the food. It was around $25 for every plate of pasta and all of our food tasted so bland. Herbless, spiceless, and definitely undersalted sauces on top of overcooked noodles. They're open now and they are AMAZING!! The inside is modern and earthy. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. This is a very traditional Italian restaurant that made my Italian in-laws very happy! The water glasses are cut wine bottles. So cute! They serve bread with a side of Parmesan cheese and olive oil. The olive oil they serve is very light. We went through a TON of cheese and the bread was very warm and fresh. The Chicken Marsala I ordered was fantastic. So much flavor, and I was forced to share since it smelled so good. It came with a side of pasta with marinara sauce. The sauce was spicy and full of flavor just like I like! My husband had spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were very spicy. Lots of pepper. The Parmesan fries that came with the veal Parmesan sandwich were savory. I can't bring myself to give this restaurant more than three stars--it is a mix of upscale sports bar décor, a very positive alert wait-staff and, from my perspective, ordinary food. As to the food, I ordered the lasagna, finding it to be overcooked with a tomato sauce that was plain. We waited at the bar before we were seated. I ordered a specialty cocktail--nothing special except the prehistoric cherry that capped off the drink. One very positive note is that they have a strong gluten-free option. My partner was happy to make the selection and very positive about her pasta (al dente) and the sauce that accompanied it. So I have a mixed reaction, clearly. I'd say take the winning ingredients (staff, an abundance of smiles, a positive atmosphere) and punch up the style of the servings--traditional is fine, an uptick on traditional seems in reach. read more

Brick chicken topped with completely over cooked broccolini, complete mush and wilted soggy onions and sauce took all crisp from the skin. The crushed red pepper for the spicy lemon sauce arrive as we were putting uneaten food in to go containers. Not enough people to remove used dishes from the table so had to literally hand the server the dirty plates multiple times. One time she said it wasn't her normal job to do. Understandable. I went to have dinner here with my birthday twin/ bestie. This place is hidden in the side streets of downtown Libertyville. The outside is very cozy with a fire pit and some wicker furniture. The inside waiting area is a bit small but we were greeted and seated right away. The lighting is low with these amazing glass bottle chandeliers. The decor is simple but clean. The menus are on these wooden tablets. Our table was a table for two in a cozy corner of the restaurant . We were sitting between a mom and daughter and a couple. It was tight seating but the space between the tables was close. Honestly a lot of places are set up this way now so it didn't bother us. There was a lot on our small table though. A carafe of water, salt and pepper shaker, a bottle of olive oil, and our glasses of water. Then we ordered a bottle of Riesling, so now we had our wine glasses, and the bread platter added to our table. Needless to say it was a little tight. The food was delicious! We ordered a Brussels Sprout salad that was amazing and a crab cake for appetizers. My friend had fish and I had scallops. She didn't care for the skin on the fish.. it wasn't crispy but my scallops melted in my mouth. I'll definitely be back for the pasta! I recommend 100%! read more

If I was critical of anything maybe a touch pricy for the quantity of food and the side dish of pasta was a touch bland. But having said that both main courses were very Good, the salad was split as an appetizer and was very good and the handmade tiramisu for dessert was fabulous. My first time and we sat outside. Salads and bread and olive oil and wine and decor were all excellent but they lost a star because there seemed to be no sense of urgency in the service .... Could be easily fixed by having a manager of some sort keeping an eye on things and checking on the tables. But none was to be seen. Good food and good service! Went to dinner on a weeknight with my friend. We were quoted a 25 minute wait, which turned out to be about 40 minutes, which for a weeknight is a bit long in my opinion. We opted to sit at the bar while we waited. Observing the dining room it's very nice looking, modern but with warmth. I noticed it's a older crowd, most people in their 50's plus so I felt a bit out of my age group. Surprisingly it was very loud inside (not usually favored by that age group) not a place for cozy conversation. It's also extremely small, I think only about 15 tables. At the bar I ordered a Pinot Grigio and my friend ordered a martini. The martini looked good, my wine was a very small pour. Probably the smallest I've ever seen actually, so not worth the price $8 for Ruffino (which a bottle retails on average for $9). We asked for the check and mine included a $3 miscellaneous liquor charge, which didn't make much sense. After finally flagging down the bartender she explained she couldn't split the check (not sure how that works since it was at a bar) and so the $3 was part of my friends martini. No big deal but it didn't make sense and she probably should have explained it beforehand. We finally got our table, and they bring you bread and cheese and there is olive oil on the table. I ordered smoked chicken rigatoni and my friend ordered lasagna. The server was very nice and on his game. The food came out very quickly and hot. My dish was awful, it had a strange taste, still can't put my finger on it but I was picking at it trying to get through it since I hate sending food back. My friend loved her lasagna and said it was the best she ever had. The server came by and asked how things were and I admitted it was my first time so I didn't really know what to order but the dish wasn't what I hoped it would be. He was very concerned and offered to replace it and I said no trouble I'll just eat it since I had been waiting a while and was hungry. He said ok but without mentioning he brought his manager (I'm assuming the owner) over to see what they could do. She was very sweet and said it was a new dish they were trying and said she wanted me to be happy and would replace it with something else. My friend said get the lasagna since hers was so good and I did. It also came out quickly and was so good! Very nice flavors, fresh ingredients, perfectly made! In the end I was so glad to have the dish replaced. They offered I could even take the rigatoni dish home if I wanted to give it to someone and I did but ended up throwing it out because I couldn't eat it and no one else could either. In the end the bill came and was not correct again, but it was quickly resolved since our waiter was observant and noticed we needed help. So overall I say good food and good service, not great, because I feel like they are working out a few kinks in their new location. As I dine out in town regularly, I would say it's somewhere in the middle of the list of places I'd choose, unless I absolutely had to have lasagna! read more

The overcooked special salmon swam atop a bed of sodden pasta drenched in amazingly bland vodka-tomato sauce barely dotted with artichokes and mushrooms. The chicken dish was slipped through a tasteless bread coating and smothered in a bland sauce, served with not even a spot of parsley--quite unappetizing in appearance. Had a wonderful time there for their Mother's Day Brunch. My wife and daughters were greeted with flowers when we sat down. Both me and my wife were given Mimosas right away.
