I was here a few years ago and always wanted to go back. We went last week and I'm sorry I waited so long. Food, service, and ambience were outstanding. I asked about cannolis and they only had one left so they made a few more for my dessert! I had delicious eggplant Parmesan. Enough for a second meal. My friend had a delicious veggie sandwich. I have been to Tina's many times in the last 15 years. My mom discovered them (for our family, anyway) when she worked in Waukegan. She took me on a Saturday and I fell in love! Every one of the savory items is amazing from salads to pasta to sandwiches!! You'll want to save room for dessert, especially the bread pudding. I recently ordered Tina's to go for lunch and it was so yummy. I order the Tacchino sandwich (which is my fav next to cheese lasagna), normally it comes with home made chips, but I substituted for a side salad instead. I also got the minestrone soup, which was savory. The service was fast, I was told over the phone 10 mins, when I arrive my food was ready. The staff is super friendly. Inside the restaurant was super packed and busy. I'm sure it's probably a wait to get a table. Inside the restaurant is super cute, you will feel like your in Italy. read more

I love this place! I've been here many times, and can't believe I've never reviewed it! Tina (the owner) came to America from Sicily when she was 20. I'm not sure how she wound-up in Gurnee, but I'm so thankful she did! Tina's Italian Bake Shop is very unassuming from the outside, but when you walk-in you are magically transported to an old-world Italian cafe! The space is pleasant and has lots of charm and character. I'm guessing there are approximately a dozen tables. Today my wife and I stopped in for lunch (fyi they aren't open for dinner). My wife had the Chicken Salad Sandwich. I had the Italian Sausage sandwich. Both were outstanding! Everything I've ever had here is delicious! The menu is mostly sandwiches and salads, but they do offer a couple of entrees, including possibly the best cheese lasagna I've ever had! They also have wonderful desserts and baked goods. The workers all genuinely appear to enjoy what they are doing. This is the friendliest staff I've ever encountered at any restaurant. Tina, if you are reading this: Thank you! This was my first time dining here. I had lunch with a friend and we both ordered the cold pumpkin ravioli with roasted sweet potatoes and gorgonzola cheese (I substituted goat cheese) over a bed of mixed greens. Both my friend and I loved the dish. It had so many levels of flavor. Also, Tina's uses organic greens, which is a huge plus since lettuce greens are high in pesticide residues. The menu is more extensive than what you see on their website. Service was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was warm and inviting. They bake all their bread, cookies and desserts. Tina's is doing amazing when it comes to COVID-19! They have seating outside, a menu on the window so that no one has to touch or hand back menus. Tables are seated 6 feet apart. They are doing great with practicing The new rules. Tina is incredibly sweet and always is doing whatever she can to make her customers happy. The food is phenomenal as ever. Very very good. Staff is extremely friendly. I went here with my family and every single one of us were happy with our food and the experience we had. I had the eggplant parmigiana which is my favorite thing ever. I stoped in for baked goods. 1st, my wife loved the Cannoli. However we were not impressed with the Italian cookies. We purchased the random tin and 2 Cannolis and cost was near $30. It was a very high price for the food purchased. No one in the home liked the cookies but everyone loved the Cannoli. People were very friendly. My issue was the value for what I had paid. I was I. Sticker shock. Could have purchased 2 dozen donuts and yet we had less than 8 cookies. read more

Tina's is sort of considered one of those "little hidden gems" around here. I've had several of their menu item's so far and they've all been fantastic. Everything from a "simple" egg salad sandwich, to the desserts (cannoli, tiramisu), they're all excellent. There's definitely a "homemade, caring" sort of feel to both the food and atmosphere there. Can't say enough about Tina's. If I had only 1 complaint, it's just that the hours they're open are too short. =) read more

My uncle told us about this place. He claims it's authentic Italian food. Which it is. The food was good but the portions are small. It is not a fancy looking restaurant what's so ever, it literally looks like you're at someone's house. The tables aren't restaurant tables they're wood house tables. If esthetic is what you're into or important to you this won't be it. But, if you can appreciate authentic food made by a family business then this place is for you. It's like a bakery/kitchen. My girlfriend used to work in the same building with Tina's for quite a while, so almost every single day she was telling me how delicious her lunch was. They moved a while ago, but she still remembers the place, and passing by on the weekend we decided to pickup a lunch. First thing first, the interior is super authentic and it has its own unique spirit. Those shelves with pictures, then spices, even those lovely tables and chairs... That difference makes it! The owner, Tina was super nice and friendly; talking to her I even picked up some Italian :) She definitely knows the drill, and since the place is normally packed, people appreciate that. I came over right when they were about to close on Saturday afternoon, so I had to take the lunch out, but next time for sure I am dining in! The food was just perfect; I mean look at those pictures! The recipies are unique - even though there is an Italian place in pretty much any town around, you won't see the same items on the menu nowhere else. Recently met a friend for lunch here. I had heard great reviews so I was excited to find out for myself. Every positive review was spot on. We arrived around 11am and the small dining room was about half full, by the time we left, it was hopping with a line almost out the door. The food was delicious. I misread the menu, thought I ordered a roast beef sandwich but in reality I ordered a tuna sandwich on focaccia bread. No problem! It was delicious, the bread is homemade and fresh. I had a side of fresh potato chips but wished I had ordered the side salad instead as it looked so fresh and inviting. Tina herself, greeted us as she cleared our table.
