Grilled pear salad with chicken salad and fresh iced tea
Phyllis D.

I have been to Tina's many times in the last 15 years. My mom discovered them (for our family, anyway) when she worked in Waukegan. She took me on a Saturday and I fell in love! Every one of the savory items is amazing from salads to pasta to sandwiches!! You'll want to save room for dessert, especially the bread pudding. The restaurant is really cute and includes paintings of the owner's grandchildren. Service is friendly and fast without sacrificing a symphony for your taste buds!

I recently ordered Tina's to go for lunch and it was so yummy. I order the Tacchino sandwich (which is my fav next to cheese lasagna), normally it comes with home made chips, but I substituted for a side salad instead. I also got the minestrone soup, which was savory. The service was fast, I was told over the phone 10 mins, when I arrive my food was ready. The staff is super friendly. Inside the restaurant was super packed and busy. I'm sure it's probably a wait to get a table. Inside the restaurant is super cute, you will feel like your in Italy.

Egg salad salad with grilled pears

I'm watching my carb take, so I did not get to enjoy one of their sandwiches but I had a super delicious egg salad salad. I highly recommend it for anyone watching their carbs. Super delicious. The egg salad was on top of the greens with grilled pears and a strawberry vinaigrette. It was amazing. It was a great combination. Service was quick I was in I was out everyone was super friendly.

The Italian Sausage Sandwich is incredible!

I love this place! I've been here many times, and can't believe I've never reviewed it! Tina (the owner) came to America from Sicily when she was 20. I'm not sure how she wound-up in Gurnee, but I'm so thankful she did! Tina's Italian Bake Shop is very unassuming from the outside, but when you walk-in you are magically transported to an old-world Italian cafe! The space is pleasant and has lots of charm and character. I'm guessing there are approximately a dozen tables. Today my wife and I stopped in for lunch (fyi they aren't open for dinner). My wife had the Chicken Salad Sandwich. I had the Italian Sausage sandwich. Both were outstanding! Everything I've ever had here is delicious! The menu is mostly sandwiches and salads, but they do offer a couple of entrees, including possibly the best cheese lasagna I've ever had! They also have wonderful desserts and baked goods. The workers all genuinely appear to enjoy what they are doing. This is the friendliest staff I've ever encountered at any restaurant. Tina, if you are reading this: Thank you! Or should I say: Grazie!

By far the best around! Real Italian goodness. Tina just makes you feel like you're at home. The service was exceptional and fun. We will definitely be back.

Tina's is doing amazing when it comes to COVID-19! They have seating outside, a menu on the window so that no one has to touch or hand back menus. Tables are seated 6 feet apart. They are doing great with practicing The new rules. Tina is incredibly sweet and always is doing whatever she can to make her customers happy. The food is phenomenal as ever. Very very good. Staff is extremely friendly. I went here with my family and every single one of us were happy with our food and the experience we had. I had the eggplant parmigiana which is my favorite thing ever. Will be returning sooner than later!!

I LOVE going to Tina's for lunch...anything I choose is DELICIOUS! Recently, I chose egg salad on lettuce with grilled pears...YUMMY!

We both ordered the 8 oz filet mignon, and it did not disappoint -- cooked perfectly and super flavorful. Her daughter got the kids steak and fries -- the steak was great, fries were just decent. Now let's talk about the appetizer... the shrimp with the Parmesan crust? 10/10. Easily the star of the night. We also shared a bottle of Riesling, which was only about $24, making it super affordable. Service was lovely. The staff checked in just enough without being overbearing, and they even surprised us with a birthday brownie, which was such a sweet touch. The ambiance was also really nice -- one of those versatile spots where you can dress it up or keep it casual. I had on a tailored sweatsuit, my sister wore jeans, and we still felt perfectly in place. It's definitely a spot you could come to for a date night, family dinner, or even a corporate happy hour. Overall, our bill came out to around $160, which felt completely worth it for the quality, service, and experience. I'd absolutely come back.

My husband and I had a reservation on Valentine's night and it felt like our server was trying to rush us out to turn the table. Between sitting down and eating three courses we were in the restaurant for less than an hour. Our server was good though. As far as our food, it was just ok. It looked amazing, and the portions were large, but the actual flavor of the food was just a little bland. Each dish felt like it was missing something. First, they bring you out a fresh loaf of crusty bread but they don't offer any olive oil or butter to dip it in. The bruschetta was missing the balsamic drizzle and also needed more olive oil. The wedge salad was good. The pollo vesuvio was good but was a bit bland, and the short rib raviolis were also a bit lacking. We couldn't really pinpoint what was missing in our entrees, but they were both definitely lacking some sort of seasoning that would have turned them from ok to very good. For dessert we got the cannolis. Big mistake. They were the worst cannolis that I have ever had. The shells were absolutely awful- They were very hard and had a bitter, almost chemical taste. The upside was that the filling was good. This restaurant has a lot of potential with a few tweaks to some of the recipes. I'm not sure that we'll be back though, which is disappointing because I really wanted to love it.

So wrong!! A REAL Chicago pizza is basically a full-blown cheese & toppings filled pie with a thick bottom crust, generous amount of cheese and the sauce piled on top like the grand finale. We stopped at Giordano's in Gurnee and ordered a 14-inch build-your-own w beef, mushrooms, and onions. "Large" apparently means "feeds a small village" because this thing was massive, easily enough for a family of 5!!! Every slice came with that dramatic, slow-motion cheese pulls that make everyone at the table stop talking and start taking pictures!!! The ingredients tasted fresh, the cheese was gloriously gooey, and each slice was hearty enough to qualify as a meal and a half. We also grabbed the mozzarella triangles and buffalo wings bc apparently self-control wasn't invited to dinner. The mozzarella triangles were crispy, cheesy little pockets of happiness, and the wings brought just the right amount of buffalo kick. Both were absolutely delicious and disappeared way faster than they should have. The service was fantastic too!! Drinks never stayed empty for long, and the staff was attentive throughout the meal. We walked out stuffed, happy, and officially educated on what REAL Chi-town pizza is supposed to be!! If you're visiting Chicago, Giordano's is absolutely a must!!!

The place is always absolutely slammed from the tasting counter to the back. I just don't get the hype. It's a restaurant that has 50 private label wines and a "club". Is this "club" some sort of trendy status? Anyway, server was a pro. Appetizers were an orange chicken tasting calamari plate and a 5 mini meatball pan. Both were pretty good. Entrees were big and the menu is pretty large. Food was overall decent but a bit pricey. The wines are not very good. The "Lux" level are decent, but you are pushing $15 a glass to get there. I just don't get it. This place is also really loud. You can't have any type of conversation without shouting at each other. It's louder than a Texas Roadhouse. I spent my night leaning over to hear the person next to me and I was the messenger when people across the table wanted to talk to each other. Thank you for the gift card. It was used and appreciated. Next time get me one to one of the legacy places right across the street. Those are local owner operated and you can talk and enjoy some really good foods.
