I must admit that we really didn't like this location when it first opened. BUT, it has redeemed itself over time. I'm happy to see they have daily specials again. Drinks are the money maker but they should be included in a combo for the nominal price. The staff is hit and miss with the orders. If I could give less stars I would. Shame on George the driver for Uber Eats, and shame on Cafe Rio in North Ogden. I will never eat here again. I ordered food for my daughter and her friend as I was working late. THE FOOD NEVER MADE IT TO MY HOME!!! George stated that it was delivered, on the Uber Eats app, but it was nowhere on my property. I've left numerous messages with Uber Eats and even talked to an employee at Cafe Rio. Nobody will refund my $30 which is way too much for a burrito entree to be delivered. The money may not seem like a big deal to some, but it is to a single mom of 2 trying to make ends meet. I'm boycotting both Cafe Rio and Uber Eats! The North Ogden Cafe Rio has been a favorite since it opened, but we haven't been since before COVID. I was skeptical due to the recent reviews, but I'm glad we took the risk. We've ordered takeout 3 times in the last couple months and it was as good as ever. According to other YELP reviews, I called in our order and didn't try online ordering. Note that payment is required when placing your order over the phone. Also note the North Ogden location is not providing curbside pickup due to limited staff. All restaurants are struggling with staffing, so delays and some errors are more likely. But IMO, the food at the North Ogden Cafe Rio is still delicious! read more

Every time I order a burrito enchilada style it comes with nothing on it . Yet the menu shows it's supposed to come with enchilada sauce and cheese! I've ordered it twice picked it up brought it home and no sauce or no cheese has ever been on my burrito enchilada Style that I ordered. Very disappointing . And then I called to try to get help with my order and their customer service was pitiful and basically they blamed me for placing my order incorrectly . Check it out because the picture clearly shows it comes with sauce and cheese and the description does . This was in North Ogden . This one star review is simply not low enough. My family and I frequent this store often. Last night, my wife and I ordered our usual meals (Sweet Pork Salad for her and Sweet Pork Burrito for myself). My wife took one bite of her salad to learn that there was something VERY spicy in mix. The only thing that she had on it was the pico; no dressing because that is too hot for her. She tried to eliminate the pico and that was useless because all the juice already settled into the bottom. She has very sensitive stomach and simply cannot handle hardly any spice. Cafe Rio typically has a very consistent spice level. In my opinion, they do a really great job making things very consistent. After she realized that there was no way to remedy the problem herself, she tried to get some help from the staff. She came back to the table with her same meal and was told that they cannot do anything for her. They were not willing to make her another salad with no pico. We are talking about $13 retail...are you kidding me? They acted like it was a masterpiece that would cost them more than they could afford. I was very upset at the time and decided to cool down a little before speaking with them. I went up after I finished my meal and simply asked if there was something that could be done. I received no help at all. In fact the response that I had from the Manager was so disrespectful that I'm not willing to go back until she is fired. At first, she offered me corporate phone number. I refused that, because we should not need to call corporate to resolve a simple issue like this. Then she stated that she could replace the lettuce with a side salad - that really was not going to be the same as what was ruined. Finally, I had enough of her rolling her eyes at me that I told her that she has one more chance to help me make things right or you will loose customers. Her response was that Cafe Rio can handle that! My last statement was, "I guess I will take corporates number then." This manager insisted that everything was prepared as they normally do. She recommended that we sample everything before having it made. That would be non-productive for the staff and slow down this whole process of creating a simple meal. When I got home, I called corporate. At the time of the call, they explained that they were based in Virgina and highly recommend me talking to someone during normal business hours. I will be calling them later today to deal with this manager. The individual that I got to speak with on the phone explained that the manager was out of line and should have simply replaced the meal and has the reflexibility of doing so. read more

What is going on with this cafe rio? It has slowly become worse over the last few years. I guess technically we keep making the mistake by coming back but this last time will be the last time. I ordered a Barbacoa salad and my wife got a tostada. I somehow ended up with a raw tortilla, no tortilla strips and double the amount of salad. The tostada had double the amount of tortilla strips and no lettuce and about a tablespoon of rice? Like what are we doing? So my tortilla strips were given to my wife and i got her crappy lettuce.I had a chunk of the pork in my salad the size of a baseball. How hard is it? It's borderline comical. I've had better consistency at sonic drive thru. At least there you just known it's gonna suck. I hate costa Vida but can't wait for it to open. I showed the lady my $2 coupon on the app for chips and queso. She said I could use that and use my rewards that I had. Right before I paid for the food I asked again if it would be $2 since I had the coupon that expired 9/20/2023 and she said yes. She gave me my receipt and I was charged the full price for the chips and queso. I went back and asked for help with that and she said sorry there isn't anything we can do. She wasn't helpful at all. I love cafe Rios food, it's the North Ogden location I have a problem with. On their busier days if you order online be prepared to wait at least an hour after they say your food should be ready. They also need signs on the road next to them that says, "no parking!" It's super irritating when you try to drive through and theirs cars stopped and parked right in the middle! I have been waiting to give this review to give them a chance because Cafe Rio is one of my favorite places to eat. But this location is absolutely the worst. It's sad to see so many horrible reviews and nothing being done about them! I've ordered take out, waited the allotted time and still came to the store and ended up waiting in the line to just order it myself cause they still didn't have it done! They take money, answer the phones, deal with the register with the same gloves as they use to prepare food. Anytime you ask them a question or let them know something isn't right they with out fail give attitude or an excuse! The last 3 times we have come to get food the rice has been hard and chewy! My husband told the lady serving us today that just he wanted to give them a heads up but the rice has been hard the last couple times we have come and she was bluntly rude about it like he offended her personally! If anyone knows my husband they know he is the least confrontational person in the world, I was actually surprised that he even said anything but he only gets rice as his side so he's been bummed out and hasn't even eaten it! I then had to wait for the order to be made after choosing a substitute, because they 'couldnt call' due to us not having a number on file. I love cafe rio but this location is HORRIBLE. They are rude, apathetic and act like you're an annoyance just by existing. One day, as I've had several bad experiences, they were ignoring this poor teen standing in line to pick up his order. They were just standing around (while they should have been cleaning!) So I said, "Excuse me! This young man needs help!" He thanked me and said he'd been standing there for ten minutes. When I finally picked up my order half an hour later, they had given me the wrong order and I had to drive back to get the right one. They didn't even apologize. I always ask for extra meat bc if I don't I literally get three pieces of pork. No exaggeration I never eat in bc there are never clean tables. I know help is hard to find right now, but I'd fire them all and start over. read more

This location is AWFUL. Was not always that way; when they first opened it was fully staffed, the line moved quickly, and the food was good quality. But over the last year or so it has gone WAY downhill. Never staffed properly; always short-handed. You can be the only one in the place and they are out of everything--like today. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch around 3:30. There were two people in line ahead of me, only one other person in the dining room. They had one prep cook who refused to do anything but prep. There was one (white) woman on the line running around trying to do everything. Then a younger (Latina) girl showed up to help, but by then things had fallen way behind. No guac on the line. I got the last of the steak (who knows how long it had been there). The white woman kept asking the prep cook, "Where is Levi? I need Levi!" Orders were made in a timely fashion--but there was no one to check us out. Others who came in after us ordered steak only to find out there wasn't any. "I haven't had time to make any." Phone rang constantly while we were there and no one ever picked up--everyone too busy apparently. My steak salad was ok, but nothing to write home about. My husband did NOT like his Quesadilla at all. It was dry and tasteless. Hardly cut. He said he would have preferred the $2 Taco Bell quesadilla to this one. I had never been to a Cafe Rio before this one opened. I was a Costa Vida girl. My husband loved Cafe Rio and thought Costa Vida was a poor imitation. I came to love the steak salad at Cafe Rio, but my husband has said we will never come back to this Cafe Rio location. And it may have soured him on all the locations. He said "Costa Vida from now on." Oh--and the take-out is a joke. Nothing but problems with that. Save yourself the headache. read more

When you're in the store it's bad, but if you order online or through an app 99% of the time it is wrong, or you have missing items, or it's bad quality. Almost every table had not been wiped down and there was a spilled soda on the floor that looked like it had been there for over a day. The cashier didn't have a customer so instead of cleaning a table or 10, she sat down and was on her phone. The line filled up behind us & then a very distracted employee helps us out. She didn't even wrap up my burrito very well at all, just kind of flipped & barely tucked it. I was also charged for the enchilada style when I didn't even get the enchilada style. Other than that the whole restaurant just didn't seem very clean at all. This location is convenient for me but it is so hit & miss that I think I'll have to start going to Costa Vida or a different Cafe Rio location. We moved from UT County where Cafe Rio was always incredible. We keep giving the N Ogden location a chance.. but I don't know why?! Every single time they are missing something from our take out order/ or the flavors are off. They skimp on anything & everything they can. Tonight was by far the worst & I'm finally leaving a one star review. Tonight they missed an entree entirely; son's nachos missing the beans & all the other toppings. Teenagers are missing the cheese on their enchilada style burritos (yet charged us the extra $1 for it, on both!). I think they just don't care at this location. New management is desperately needed. This place has some major issues! EVERY TIME I have been in there the employees are oblivious to what they are touching with their gloved hand before they are handling my food. I've seen them touch their hat, their hair, wipe their sweaty forehead, their phone, and an AirPod in their ear. Their hats are covered in flour or food proving that their hands have been all over it. I think that they are under the impression that the glove is used only to protect their hand from getting dirty. No hairnets are worn and those with long hair are obviously not required to put it in a bun. I generally love Café Rio but this location needs some major help!! read more

Let me start by saying that for years we have loved this location. In the last 6-8 months it has spiraled down hill in quality ( orders not prepared correctly, stale tortillas and chips, missing items, curdled queso), so much so that the only thing we really buy there now is dressing to go. Today we picked up a pint of house dressing and it's full of other food items. I understand that maybe some lettuce falls in from time to time but don't send it home with me that way. We also ordered on line and waited in the stalls for curbside and they never came out. Just kind of a bummer. In North Ogden we don't have a ton of options for good food.
