I have eaten at Maria's perhaps 30 times in the last year. They have some of the best dishes I've ever tasted and I am a pro at Mexican. Their chimichangas are amazing at $12 for lunch special with a big drink rice and beans salad come on folks that's a great price. It's the food is equal to the price. I don't know how they do it. It's fresh. It's tasty and it's always hot. The service is fantastic. The girls really care about the presentation. We live in a state with a great selection of Mexican restaurants, but Maria consistently performs the others at a price point ,...It's hard to believe. read more

We have been using DoorDash to order from Maria's Mexican Restaurant for the past 4 years. We love most of their food, especially their Cheese Dip, and been pretty regular customers. Due to our family size we usually order 2 large cheese dips. We noticed the past year that every time we order 2 large cheese dips we get one medium to small sized bag of chips. We usually end up having to go to store to buy a bag of chips just so there's enough to go with the cheese dip. I have called and complained about this more than once. We have ordered at least 12 times in the past 5 months and only one time out of those orders did we receive 2 full bags of chips with our 2 large orders of cheese dip. We ordered again last night and again, got 1 half-full bag of chips for 2 full orders of the dip. Upon calling them the lady who answered admitted she did the order and puts one bag of chips regularly with 2 large orders of cheese dip... what? They now charge almost $15 for a full cheese dip that is supposed to come with chips... So we're paying approximately $30 for 2 large cheese dips and a half bag of chips..... NO MORE!!! We won't be ordering from this company anymore. This is a complete rip-off to customers. I don't know if the owners are telling their staff to short people on chips with those cheese dip orders but enough is enough. A few times the cheese dip containers were half full as well when we received them. This is happening enough to make us feel it's intentional.. and it's a pity as we used to really like the place. read more

We have eaten at Maria's a couple of times lately. It's the best Mexican restaurant in South Ogden that we have found although there are several that we still haven't been to. The salsa at a Mexican restaurant has been a good indicator of overall quality and the salsa at Maria's is excellent. We had the shrimp tacos the last two visits and they were very good. The first time was better because I think they cooked the shrimp for us. They were warm. The last time they were cold but still tasty. I think the difference was because of the number of customers that last time. The cooks may have known there'd be a big crowd so they pre-cooked a lot of stuff. Just a guess on my part. read more

Great service, friendly employee and decent green chile burrito. Absolutely loved Maria's Mexican Food! I ordered the large combination platter and it was amazing--huge portions, super fresh, and packed with flavor. First time ever trying this restaurant. I requested takeout as the order was going to a family member. I requested their favorite (two chicken enchiladas) that comes with refried beans and Spanish rice. I also requested they add on lettuce and sour cream as you can easily do that with other Mexican restaurants when it is not stated in the description. I also requested any red or green sauce as you get those with other Mexican restaurants. Needless to say, there was absolutely NO extra sauce on the side included (or that you could add to from the menu). No jalapenos either. No sour cream included. The lettuce requested (usually it's shredded green lettuce that restaurants such as these do). Big mistake! It was a bunch of red leaf plus shredded cabbage that you clearly could tell must be part of their house or some other salad in the restaurant. The refried beans were obviously taken out of the cheapest generic brand can and the Spanish rice covered the entire meal. Where were the enchiladas? Barely found underneath. Undercooked and not even big enough to take a photo. This is NOT an authentic Mexican restaurant. Betos and Rancheritos are more authentic and that is not saying much! Absolutely terrible experience. I placed my order and they brought out the wrong food. I pointed it out and then sat there for another hour waiting for the correct dish, which never came. After being there for almost two hours with no food, I asked to just pay and leave. Suddenly I was told my order was "coming out now." Another great experience at Maria's. Alma was our waitress, the best we've ever had! Cute, fun, attentive! Hubby had the Maria's Super Fries, which we asked to be extra well done but weren't: the only downfall of our experience. :( I had the small combination, which is not small!! Hot and delicious. I took the chili verde burrito home to have for breakfast. I like the ambiance and decor. The only thing I don't like is the dirty dishes cart they roll around. Tacky, in my opinion. My Aunt introduced this place to my husband and I. We,the 3 of us get together once a month and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS place! Their food is excellent and reasonably priced. The service is fast and everyone working here are so helpful and very friendly!!! Every entrée my husband and I have ordered here, has been SO INCREDIBLY GOOD!! The only thing we haven't tried is their desserts, and they look REALLY YUMMY TOO! So, I'm getting one the next time I go here!!! Definitely stop by and get some real yummy Mexican food !!! They have a very nice ambiance. We went closer to Christmas. So it was decorated for Christmas and they had a beautiful tree it's a warm setting the way the restaurant is set up. Service Initially I was hung up on when waiting to place my order. I was very understanding, things happen. I ordered two corn enchiladas with rice and bean four times. I also added an extra garnish for one of them. (image from menu in red) Phone order take out receipt (white image with Maria's logo) has 4 flour chicken enchiladas and a house salad. The lady who took the order just kept saying I said four flour. I never get flour, so I would never say flour. I tried showing her the menu but she just argued with what she thought I said rather than fixing my order as I pointed to the item I want. Feeling she was not gonna understand even pointing at the menu I canceled my order and got a refund. I'm not sure at this point if the refund went through. I have had a couple issues in the past. This was a last minute stop as we were headed some place else. Glad we stop here. The place is very large and a good family place. We we seated immediately and given water. Our server took our drink order, one of their special margaritas yummy! After looking over the many menu options, we decided on the Molcajete for two. Chips and salsa are complementary as expected. The dinner arrived and was beyond expected. Very large. Lots of shrimp. Steak, and chicken with many veggies. I could do without the cactus. We've been eating at Maria's Mexican Restaurant the past year and LOVE their cheese dip, flautas and steak dinner. We use Door Dash frequently for the nights I'm too tired to cook. The only downside is we commonly order 2 whole orders of the cheese dip and only get one bag of chips to go with the 2 orders. Fortunately we keep store-bought tortilla chips on hand, but Maria's chips taste better. They also forget salsa frequently when we order takeout. This has been a common occurrence, hence the 4 stars. Somehow I flubbed up my check-in last night, meaning no picture of my very taste tamale plate. You'll just have to take my word for it. Weeknight 6:15P dinner w/2 friends. Our server, Laura, was quick with our chips, salsa and drinks. Very pleasant and friendly. Pricing is reasonable. I opted for a pork and a rajas con queso tamale plate. Rice was basic, refried beans flavorful with a not-totally-runny texture. Not a fan of the rajas tamale, so I'll order something else next time. Friend 1 had the tacos del mar for her second visit/for the second time, made w/salmon. DEMOLISHED them - no to go for her. She even got a discount on her meal because it was "Taco Tuesday." Friend 2, who is married to a man from Mexico, raved about the Milanesa and said it's the only place she's found it in Utah; they usually wait to have it when they visit Mexico. She said the avocado was also good and fresh, and she took leftovers. She also had a beautiful Horchata, which didn't last long. :) I ended up with a lot of leftovers, because I succumbed to the chips and salsa.
