Visited this place during Seattle Restaurant Week. The staff seemed to not know what Seattle Restaurant Week was even though there was a poster about Seattle Restaurant Week on their front door and they were on SRW's website and even have their SRW menu. We went ahead and dined in because we want to have some Turkish dish and glad that we did. Not related to the Cafe Sabah in Renton (different owners, although we were told that Cafe Sabah in Renton was previously owned by the same person, sold the Renton location, and opened up the Kirkland location). The place is named after the owner's wife. The place is well lit (too lit if you're going for a date night). Reminds me of a cafeteria because of the lighting. Casual place. For cold appetizer, we had Baba Ganoush - Roasted eggplant, roasted red pepper, garlic, fresh lemon juice. Served with bread. Delicious! It goes well with the served bread. The bread, almost like a pita bread, was tasty! For main courses, we had: Iskender Kebab - Homemade bread topped with beef gyro. Finished with sizzling tomato butter sauce. Served with yogurt. Very flavorful dish! Beyti Kebab (under sandwich) - Savory ground beef and lamb meatball with roasted tomato, wrapped in lavash. Served with fresh cooked tomato sauce, dried red pepper melted butter & yogurt. Good dish, but I liked the Iskender Kebab better mainly because of its sauce. For dessert we shared Pistachio Kadaif - layers of fine strands of shredded phyllo dough, filled with a mixture of crushed pistachios. YUMMY! Just the right amount of sweetness for me. I would order this dessert again! Staff were friendly.

Look at what is supposed to be a donor Sandwich???

I was there for dinner tonight and I also ordered a donor sandwich to take home. I was so disappointed. The place was almost empty but the service was terrible. I did not see the server after she brought my food to the table. No serving plates and I had to use a small dessert plate as a dinning plate . The lemonade was not a fresh made lemonade. For the carryout orders they use these cheap old style Chinese food boxes. I was shocked. My donor sandwich had very little meat and so much vegetables and the bread was the worst. It was not even a sandwich. An old piece of broken bread. You can see the pictures They need to hire a professional floor manager with restaurant experience. I am talking about a real experience. The staff are not welcoming when you walk in and they have no idea when you even left ?? This is with a slow night. I hate to see what will happen on busy nights. So disappointing.

Big open restaurant that has free parking in the building! So many options on the menu. I'm so excited to try their menu! There aren't many Turkish restaurants in Kirkland. I ordered Beyti kebab for the first time and it was good! Some crepe or tortilla item wrapping my beef.

We found this place when looking for a good place for kebabs. We've been looking for a good Turkish place for a while in the area and I think we found one! All the food was solid, we tried the mixed grill plate and just about all the meats were tasty. The only criticism I have for their menu is the pricing - the mixed grill plate can be split between 2 people but $50 for the quantity of food still doesn't seem like great value, even considering how good the food is. As we looked through the menu, the pricing issue was consistent for just about all other options too. The service was generally really friendly but it did tend to take some time before someone would help us. Things like getting the check, getting someone's attention, all took more time than we would have hoped and they weren't even that busy. The ambiance in the location is nice. It's cozy and not too loud. There's also outside seating if it's a nice day and wasn't too busy so getting a table wasn't difficult. We were a bigger group (7) so they were happy to combine a table for us to sit together. Their largest tables fit 6 so if you have 6 in your party there should be no issue getting somewhere to sit. Parking in Kirkland by Google. There is a parking garage with retail parking as well as street side parking.

Updated review: Came here the first time for some soup, tea and bread. This was their grand opening day and food was good, not many people in the restaurant yet. Service was slow but I wasn't in a rush. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking in the garage or street parking. Clean and aesthetic place. Came here for lunch on Saturday with some friends. The restaurant wasn't too packed, good amount of people eating. There were only 2 servers. I was eating with a group of friends and the servers didn't check in on us until I waved one over which was like 20 minutes after we had sat down. After placing our order, the food arrived in a decent time. However, one of my friend's food t get their food (a gyro plate) until 15 minutes after my other friends and I had gotten our food. I again had to wave over a server to let them know my friend hadn't gotten their food yet. They had ordered the same time as us, and their food was less complicated/time consuming to make than the rest of ours (meat platter vs gyro plate). The server said it'll take 15 more minutes which was ridiculous. The server came back 7 minutes later and said sorry the order was ready but she didn't see it. So she served him a cold plate of food. I was surprised they didn't re-make it or offer a discount. My other friends had also gotten a meat platter but their platter only came with one lamb chop and mine came with 3. I waved the server over again so they could share that they didn't get another lamb chop and asked if it only supposed to have one. The server said she'll check and brought over a manager or owner (not sure). He checked out the meal which I thought was off to make sure we weren't lying or something the said usually the platter has a few so he'll make them one more. After we were done eating, I had to wave over the server again. Overall, service was terrible. We waited so long for service at any given point during our meal. Not once did they check in on us and ask if we needed anything else or if the meal was good. Food was decent, could use a bit more flavor for the meats. But honestly, pretty good food. I want to be back here but service is just not great. Prices are kind of high but quality to service should match that and it did not. Maybe I'll come back because I do want to try some more menu items.

I was so excited when I saw this new location open in Downtown Kirkland. I really love Turkish food, so I came in with high expectations. Honestly, I am very, very disappointed, I did not expect this at all. I ordered my usual Iskander Kebab and it was awful. The meat was tough and chewy, almost like plastic. The service made things even worse. The waitress never checked on me, wasn't welcoming, and when I asked for a to-go box, she handed me a broken one that left my leftovers spilling everywhere. Even after tipping and paying, there was no smile, no thank you, nothing. It just felt cold and rude. What's more frustrating is that the restaurant wasn't even busy. There was maybe one table before me, and then a couple more came in later, but that was it. So it's not like they were overwhelmed.

    Ella M.

Very adorable place! The service was respectful and friendly and the food/beverage service was quick! The price was decent for the quality and kinds of ingredients, but ultimately it was a miss for me. The waitress was clearly very knowledgeable about the cuisine, but couldn't translate it well for someone who hasn't sure what something was. I was eager for a sweet beverage while also trying to order something I'd never had before and I don't think I was aided to settle on a satisfactory drink as much as I could have been. When the food came, it was absolutely delicious. That said, there isn't a whole lot of variety in the menu. It seemed like 70% of the options were some variation of a gyro. Ultimately, I think it was a really wonderful place and it helped me realize that Turkish food just might not be my preferred cuisine.

    Mixed Platter
    Azzaam K.

Got the mixed platter - meat was good and well cooked and tasty. Enough to share with one other person - main complaint I had was the plate was supposed to come with atleast 2 lamb chops and we only received 1. We told the waiter and she went to the owner and the owner came back and stared out our plate inspecting it to see if we were lying. Ridiculous and wanted to honestly leave. For a business, a customer is supposed to be gold otherwise there's no business without the customer. I'll come back for the food - but ownership needs to be better.

Turkish flavors just took over Kirkland Seattle's favorite Café Sabah is now in Downtown Kirkland and it's EVERYTHING. Modern vibes, terrace seating, amazing warm hospitality and the most comforting Turkish classics made with the highest quality Halal cuts of beef, lamb, chicken + fresh seafood From Kelle Pacha soup to sizzling mixed grill kebabs, juicy lamb ribs, Beyti, manti drenched in garlic yogurt, crispy lahmajun, and the sweetest kunefe & baklava with Turkish tea... every bite was unreal Bonus: They even have a prayer room inside. Based on decor I wondered if it had been a pub or steakhouse once in its life: lots of paneled and coffered wood, chandeliers, and wooden booths with coat hangers. We started with the baba ghanouj and ordered the fesenjan and a beef kobideh for meals. The meals came with a salad to share rather than small individual salads on the plate which was a nice touch. The staff was able to provide some veggies with the baba ghanouj since my partner in crime can't have bread. The baba ghanouj was great - exactly the smoky eggplant flavor I was craving when I saw the sign for Persian cuisine. The kobideh was nice and tender - you could taste the onion. The fesenjan was also extremely good. One question: Who eats this much rice in one dish? The rice was very good - but it is a lot of rice. I haven't had Persian like this since we had Persian neighbors who invited us over.

Zeitoon opened in downtown Kirkland many years ago, replacing the Central 21 Steakhouse. Much of…read morethe interior still has the original dark room steakhouse décor. The center area hosted a huge group with multiple tables pushed together. I have avoided Zeitoon all these years because they are higher cost, not necessarily justifiable since there are lower cost Persian foods or similar Mediterranean restaurants in the area. I finally decided to try them. Our server answered my questions, including his favorites. Two questionable/sketchy things happened: 1. Our server recommended the Mirza Ghasemi, which he said is great with the optional soft-boiled egg. Sounds good. We ordered it. The optional egg is $2, which is not identified on the menu. (See photo) 2. When he recommended the Mirza Ghasemi, we asked him to remove the Mast O Khiar which we initially chose. I said we only want one appetizer. He nodded and said OK. When the Mirza Ghasemi arrived, so did the Mast O Khiar. They put both on the table and immediately left. I flagged the original server to remind him we said to remove it, but a different person showed up instead. He: "You want to cancel this? No problem." and took the yogurt away. I did not order this; it is not me canceling. Minus 0.5 stars from overall rating. The Food: Mirza Ghasemi + egg, $14 +$2 - 2.5 Stars This eggplant dish is the one recommended by our server. We do enjoy eggplant dips, especially warm versions. The optional "soft boiled egg" is not an American version but tiny threads of yellow egg bits mixed within the eggplant mixture. Honestly, we cannot taste the egg. It is borderline a scam. This dish would be 3.5 stars if it was $14 at the menu price, which is already on the high side. A $16 eggplant dish is delusional. Lamb Shishlik Kebab, $36 - 3.5 Stars Menu: Lamb rack marinated and chargrilled (see menu photo) I knew I would not see a rack of lamb on my plate. I got four lamb chops. Meat quality wise, this is excellent. It comes with a ton of basmati rice and a salad with a refreshing light dressing. This is a bit spendy for the quantity of meat, but taste is good. Soltani Shishlik, $42 - 3.5 Stars This is the exact same dish as above except add a skewer of grounded beef kebab. This kebab, and I quote my hubby, is "not that good". Same comment for the rest of the dish. A basket of lavash bread arrived at the table. I believe it came with the Mirza Ghasemi. We have eaten many lavash breads, commonly used as wrap so it is grilled and/or heat-pressed with oil on the surface. These lavash breads are simply warmed. I learned they taste terrible that way. The surface has a sandpaper texture and still taste like sandpaper when eating it. If I paid for this separately, I would be upset.

Be sure to ask questions if the dish names are unfamiliar. The Food: Soltani, $32.99 - 4 Stars Soltani includes one skewer of Koobideh (ground beef) and one skew of Barg (flank steak). Both are well-seasoned with excellent flavor. We ordered the flank steak medium rare, but it was medium with no pink inside. The steak was tolerable, not as tender as it could have be. This dish was served with rice per the menu. After I saw another table has their kabab served with a bread, I asked the server. She said other than rice, there is a choice of Persian bread (flat bread with sesame) and salad. Curious that wasn't in the menu nor did she say it. Not a dealbreaker. Her reply did raise my eyebrow. Zaboon, $16.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Veal tongue, simmered and fried, tomato, pickles, parsley Based on the description, the texture completely threw me off. The meat is mushy to the point of spreadable. The flavor is light with minimum seasoning. I applied hot sauce liberally to the sandwich. Portion size is large. I ate only half. Fries, $6.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside Some pieces aren't crispy enough. Some pieces are too thick such that the inside has the potato gritty texture. The sauce is a house-created flavor. We like the sauce more than we like the fries. The food is closer to 3.5 Stars. I like the family vibe and am rounding up to 4 Stars for the overall rating.
