I was really excited to try the doner here, but unfortunately the doner was pretty average and I have to say I preferred Alanya's in the same area. The other hot items were solid, but not significantly better than the various halal spots that are available in the area. Didn't have a reservation on a weekday and honestly, would recommend grabbing a table online as the restaurant was PACKED on a Wednesday night. Baba Ghanouj: I normally love a baba ghanouj, but this was too sour rather than the smoky and almost creamy texture I'm looking for. Beef Doner Sandwich: The meat was a bit overcooked and a little under seasoned. Bread ate very dry, but the garlic sauce was perfectly creamy and sharp. Mevlana: Ended up being my favorite item, but hard to go wrong with meat, cheese, and carbs. Mix Grill Kebab: Many of the meats were nicely cooked including the chicken doner, lamb chops, and steak. They have a cool owner and nice outdoor seating. I arrived early for a team lunch and was starting to get hungry while waiting. I ran into a guy eating outside and told him I was waiting for my group; turns out, he was the owner! He offered me a sample of his food and told me how proud he is that everything is made fresh, never frozen. I took a bite and can honestly say it was amazing. My coworkers were a little hesitant at first, but after they saw me clear the plate, they dove in too. We eventually moved inside and ordered a bunch of dishes. Cafe Sabah is a newer Turkish restaurant in downtown Kirkland. They close late even on a Sunday night, which is very convenient for us night owls. Some online comments say their prices are higher than nearby places, which seem odd to me. The two nearest Turkish restaurants are both counter-ordering eateries in a much smaller space. This location is significantly larger and comfortable with full sit-down service. Their servers were attentive answering our questions. Their food taste as good as they look. Despite having many Mediterranean restaurants in the area, I think they have a good chance to thrive. I believe retail parking is available under the building, but we easily found street parking. The Food: Lamb Chops Kebab, $29.99 - 5 Stars Their lamb chops are perfectly grilled and very tender. They are served with a side of special rice, veggies, and gyro sauce. Very good meal. Iskender Kebab, $23.99 - 5 Stars Served on a sizzling platter, a heaping pile of tender and meaty doner meat sits on cubes of Turkish bread. This heap is slathered with a butter tomato sauce and a side of yogurt. The server said this is their most popular dish. Hubby had this dish at C.K.; I am happy I decided to do a repeat. This version is better because of the sizzling platter and because the base is Turkish bread instead of pita bread. The Turkish bread pieces hold up better than pita pieces when piled with meat and sauce. This hefty dish is easily two meals for me. Turkish style Baba Ganoush, $8.99 - 5 Stars This dish is completely new to me. While I have had Greek style baba ganoush many times, this Turkish BG served with toasty warm Turkish bread is refreshing, visually appealing, and so tasty. Take a look at my photo. This is my second time coming to this restaurant. As soon as you walk in the place is feels very comforting, clean and the an enjoyable atmosphere. They display nice pictures on the wall of famous Turkish celebrities and other icons. They have a big tv display showing a slideshow of all the beautiful places in Turkey, quite pleasant to watch I have to say. As for the food it was very flavorful and delicious. I ordered as a starter the Turkish Spicy Ezme. Very good, portion is slightly on the small side, however it is very good. FYI it comes as a cold dish and the spice level was very mild, at least for me. As the main course I got the Islender Kebab, this dish was so delicious and flavorful! Even the waitress said great choice. Once I ordered it, I noticed the table next to me with a party of four all orderes the same dish. Glad I did the same and it was not one bit of a disappointment. It was thin slices of good quality beef gyro with a delicious tomato, red pepper sauce on top with a side of fresh Turkish white yogurt...hands down its was awesome and I was very impressed. The staff seemed to not know what Seattle Restaurant Week was even though there was a poster about Seattle Restaurant Week on their front door and they were on SRW's website and even have their SRW menu. We went ahead and dined in because we want to have some Turkish dish and glad that we did. Not related to the Cafe Sabah in Renton (different owners, although we were told that Cafe Sabah in Renton was previously owned by the same person, sold the Renton location, and opened up the Kirkland location). The place is named after the owner's wife. The place is well lit (too lit if you're going for a date night). Reminds me of a cafeteria because of the lighting. Casual place. For cold appetizer, we had Baba Ganoush - Roasted eggplant, roasted red pepper, garlic, fresh lemon juice. Served with bread. Delicious! It goes well with the served bread. The bread, almost like a pita bread, was tasty! For main courses, we had: Iskender Kebab - Homemade bread topped with beef gyro. Finished with sizzling tomato butter sauce. Served with yogurt. Very flavorful dish! Beyti Kebab (under sandwich) - Savory ground beef and lamb meatball with roasted tomato, wrapped in lavash. Served with fresh cooked tomato sauce, dried red pepper melted butter & yogurt. Good dish, but I liked the Iskender Kebab better mainly because of its sauce. For dessert we shared Pistachio Kadaif - layers of fine strands of shredded phyllo dough, filled with a mixture of crushed pistachios. YUMMY! Just the right amount of sweetness for me. I was there for dinner tonight and I also ordered a donor sandwich to take home. I was so disappointed. The place was almost empty but the service was terrible. I did not see the server after she brought my food to the table. No serving plates and I had to use a small dessert plate as a dinning plate . The lemonade was not a fresh made lemonade. For the carryout orders they use these cheap old style Chinese food boxes. I was shocked. My donor sandwich had very little meat and so much vegetables and the bread was the worst. It was not even a sandwich. An old piece of broken bread. You can see the pictures They need to hire a professional floor manager with restaurant experience. I am talking about a real experience. We found this place when looking for a good place for kebabs. We've been looking for a good Turkish place for a while in the area and I think we found one! All the food was solid, we tried the mixed grill plate and just about all the meats were tasty. The only criticism I have for their menu is the pricing - the mixed grill plate can be split between 2 people but $50 for the quantity of food still doesn't seem like great value, even considering how good the food is. As we looked through the menu, the pricing issue was consistent for just about all other options too. The service was generally really friendly but it did tend to take some time before someone would help us. Things like getting the check, getting someone's attention, all took more time than we would have hoped and they weren't even that busy. The ambiance in the location is nice. It's cozy and not too loud. There's also outside seating if it's a nice day and wasn't too busy so getting a table wasn't difficult. We were a bigger group (7) so they were happy to combine a table for us to sit together. Their largest tables fit 6 so if you have 6 in your party there should be no issue getting somewhere to sit. Updated review: Came here the first time for some soup, tea and bread. This was their grand opening day and food was good, not many people in the restaurant yet. Service was slow but I wasn't in a rush. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking in the garage or street parking. Clean and aesthetic place. Came here for lunch on Saturday with some friends. The restaurant wasn't too packed, good amount of people eating. There were only 2 servers. I was eating with a group of friends and the servers didn't check in on us until I waved one over which was like 20 minutes after we had sat down. After placing our order, the food arrived in a decent time. However, one of my friend's food t get their food (a gyro plate) until 15 minutes after my other friends and I had gotten our food. I again had to wave over a server to let them know my friend hadn't gotten their food yet. They had ordered the same time as us, and their food was less complicated/time consuming to make than the rest of ours (meat platter vs gyro plate). The server said it'll take 15 more minutes which was ridiculous. The server came back 7 minutes later and said sorry the order was ready but she didn't see it. So she served him a cold plate of food. I was surprised they didn't re-make it or offer a discount. My other friends had also gotten a meat platter but their platter only came with one lamb chop and mine came with 3. I waved the server over again so they could share that they didn't get another lamb chop and asked if it only supposed to have one. The server said she'll check and brought over a manager or owner (not sure). He checked out the meal which I thought was off to make sure we weren't lying or something the said usually the platter has a few so he'll make them one more. After we were done eating, I had to wave over the server again. Overall, service was terrible. We waited so long for service at any given point during our meal. Not once did they check in on us and ask if we needed anything else or if the meal was good. Food was decent, could use a bit more flavor for the meats. But honestly, pretty good food. I want to be back here but service is just not great. Prices are kind of high but quality to service should match that and it did not. I was so excited when I saw this new location open in Downtown Kirkland. I really love Turkish food, so I came in with high expectations. Honestly, I am very, very disappointed, I did not expect this at all. I ordered my usual Iskander Kebab and it was awful. The meat was tough and chewy, almost like plastic. The service made things even worse. The waitress never checked on me, wasn't welcoming, and when I asked for a to-go box, she handed me a broken one that left my leftovers spilling everywhere. Even after tipping and paying, there was no smile, no thank you, nothing. It just felt cold and rude. What's more frustrating is that the restaurant wasn't even busy. There was maybe one table before me, and then a couple more came in later, but that was it. So it's not like they were overwhelmed. read more

Very adorable place! The service was respectful and friendly and the food/beverage service was quick! The price was decent for the quality and kinds of ingredients, but ultimately it was a miss for me. The waitress was clearly very knowledgeable about the cuisine, but couldn't translate it well for someone who hasn't sure what something was. I was eager for a sweet beverage while also trying to order something I'd never had before and I don't think I was aided to settle on a satisfactory drink as much as I could have been. When the food came, it was absolutely delicious. That said, there isn't a whole lot of variety in the menu. It seemed like 70% of the options were some variation of a gyro. Got the mixed platter - meat was good and well cooked and tasty. Enough to share with one other person - main complaint I had was the plate was supposed to come with atleast 2 lamb chops and we only received 1. We told the waiter and she went to the owner and the owner came back and stared out our plate inspecting it to see if we were lying. Ridiculous and wanted to honestly leave. We ate here for the first time last night and the place is large and clean. The lentil soup was excellent and the variety of appetizers were good. The falafel plate had a small salad on the plate with a yummy dressing and 8 falafels. The only negative (and it's a BIG one) is that the waitress was doused in perfume which is a NO NO as most restaurants are aware of. As soon as she came to our table, we were sickened by the smell. Many people are sensitive to perfumes and the managers/owners should never permit that. read more

We ordered enough food to feed 4 adults well, and the total price was just over $112. Because we ordered online, we received a discount, so final bill was about $102. We tried: lahmajun, bean stew, moutabbal, shakshouka, tzatziki, turkish breakfast plate, chicken gyro plate, and pistachio kadaif. We did to-go, but the restaurant was nice looking and inviting for dine-in. The staff were friendly and helpful as they ensured the order had all correct items, and the parking garage is a nice feature since we aren't within walking distance. I most look forward to getting the lahmajun and shakshouka again. I least look forward to ordering online through their website, which is a bit clunky at the moment. read more

What a surprise! I was looking for the real kebab wrap sandwich not in tortilla bread with thin beef as its supposed to be. Pistachio kadaif desert is great too. This is by far the best real kebab in Seattle - Kirkland area in my oppinion . Everything is 100% authentic and outside seating is great. Great location to enjoy downtown kirkland too.
