This is one of my favorite coffee shops in town. It's location is convenient, right off Park Ave. They have a wide variety of drinks from the classic coffee drinks to future classics like the Sgt. pepper or the Gatsby. There are also cold and hot cocktails along with beer and wine. It's a cozy little home away from home with couches and wifi. There is parking out back and on the street. It's usually not too hard to find parking. All around great place to get some work done on your computer or to meet a friend for a chat. read more

Continually impressed by the offerings and service at Cafe Sasso. The atmosphere is great too, quiet but you feel as though you can carry on a conversation as well. Lots of laptops here! The drinks are great and it's nice to have a variety on the menu to choose from aside from the traditional coffee and espresso offerings like lemonade and limeade as well as cocktails after a certain hour. Went in for the first time on a random Wednesday evening. It was so busy! Practically all of the couches and tables were full. I ordered a soy brown sugar cinnamon latte (i believe it was called a stone roller) and a Red Fern rainbow sugar cookie from the cooler. It's awesome that they have vegan baked good available! The drink was delicious. My friends were also very satisfied with their drinks and pastries. I would love to go back again and try some of their cocktails. (Yes they also serve alcoholic beverages!) One of my favorite coffee shops in Rochester! The honey bear specialty latte would have to be my favorite. They have plenty of unique drinks to try and an assortment of pastries even some vegan treats from Red Fern. The space itself has a great feel to it, lots of art to look at and the candles are a nice touch. The only downside would be how busy it can sometimes get and the lack of seating due to this. I am in love with this cafe. I have a healthy, yet serious obsession with everything about it. It's charming, but kind of hip, a little romantic, but also casual, it's a little bit of everything. Located on the corner of Park Ave, parking can be a little difficult as can be expected. They have high top tables with stools at the perfect height for reading or studying (which believe it or not is such a rarity and difficult thing to get right with high top window seating.) There are plenty of outlets underneath the tables and scattered around the cafe near the tables and couches. The space isn't huge, I would say theres about 6 tables, room for about 12 or so people at the window seats and a couple of couches. They have candles throughout the cafe that they light around 5 at night, it's the best kind of ambiance in this place, if you aren't in your car on your way there now, you're doing something wrong. Alright, they're closed at this particular moment in time, but go tomorrow and get all the coffee because it's seriously divine. I am not a coffee connoisseur by any means, but I know good coffee and they have some pretty delicious beans here. They have a flavored coffee of the day and also allow you to buy any of their flavored coffees displayed in the cafe. Today it was banana's foster and it was a-mazing. Very reasonably priced, $1.75 for a small coffee served in a mug, you'll want more than one and I think there's a reduced rate for a refill. Sometimes there's a line to wait to get a drink because some of the drinks seem a bit time consuming, but it's worth the wait and there's fun wall decor to look at while you're standing around. The girls working behind the counter are so friendly and accommodating too. I haven't had any of the food, yet, but I did notice they have a ton of gluten free options which is very much appreciated these days with all the gluten free folk out there. I wish this place stayed open later because I find myself a corner spot and stay for hours on end. Nothing better than sitting in the window, people watching on Park Ave, sipping on some seriously delicious coffee and getting some work done. SO happy to have found this place! It's about time I wrote a review for Cafe Sasso. I come here for everything: Got to get work done? Cafe Sasso. Friend in town? Cafe Sasso. Want a warm cocktail in the winter? Cafe Sasso. Ambiance is super warm and cozy. Baristas are super friendly. I love that they have a wide range of lunch options, so I can literally stay there all day, haha. I ordered a sandwich once with a side of fruit and is was HUGE! There's plenty of and a variety of seating options with tables of all sorts of heights. Plenty of outlets too! I love their chai tea and earl grey tea lattes. In the evening, they put out candles so it becomes hard to continue to do work because it is so dim. I wish there was a section with brighter lights in the evening. The wifi connection is great, but it's a bit annoying they change their wifi password so often. I've taken to just using my TWC wifi instead. read more

I enjoy checking out coffee shops around Rochester. The location is ideal being right on park ave. The cafe itself is spacious with seating outside as well. Great vibe with quality music choices (Kings of Leon, Death Cab For Cutie, Band of Horses, etc.). I went with a basic black coffee which was just meh, but they did also offer the typical coffee and tea selections. Also available were food items such as breakfast sandwiches and lunch items. I do believe they also serve beer later in the evening. The cafe also offered baked goods and sweets in their display case. Parking was a bit of an issue. There is a small lot behind the cafe, but there might be 4-5 spots. It probably wouldn't be too difficult to find a street spot if you went during the week. Overall, I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee or the lack of parking. Also the price wasn't ideal and refills weren't much better. I'd rather go to Starbucks and get a batter tasting cup of coffee for cheaper. As I mentioned earlier, they did offer food and baked goods/sweets which looked quite appetizing. Loved the atmosphere and location. You can sit and read, work or have a conversation without feeling squeezed or uncomfortable. I'd consider coming back, but not my favorite place. read more

I was passing through ROC and had to kill some time while waiting for a friend, so I ducked into Cafe Sasso. They had your standard coffee shop fare, but they also had a bunch of creative specialty drinks. I tried the Gatsby, which has vanilla and lavender; it was pretty good, and if I lived nearby on Park Ave., I would probably work my way through all the specialty drinks pretty quickly until I found my favorite(s). The staff was also very friendly, the seating options were comfortable and diverse (counters, tables, couches), and the WiFi was reliable and easy to access. Prime location, great drinks, and really chill staff. That is what keeps bringing me back. I used to come here when it was called Boulder. I suppose its considered an upgrade if you change the name to something foreign? That is besides the point. I love it here and always get an absurd amount of work done. Along with people watching. I've had their lattes, mochas, and smoothies. All oh so delicious. In my recent adventure to Cafe Sasso, I indulged myself in the alcoholic drinks. I got the Purple Haze - vodka, black tea, and a hint of lavender. Odd combination but actually very delicious. I could barely taste the alcohol and the lavender was not overpowering. Very subtle but distinguishable. It just worked. In addition to the drinks, I love the decor. The artwork they have displayed by various artists is unbelievable. They display very talented artists and it overwhelms me with inspiration. And they also do an excellent job at rotating the work they choose to display. Its great. Plus the little candles they have lit everywhere add a great ambience feel to it during the day and night! There is so much I can say about this place, but please check it out for yourself! Best coffee shop in the city. Unique cozy ambience. Interesting crowd: people come here to work, study, read or socialize. A wide range of age, perhaps ranging from early 20s to late 60s. Great selection of drinks and delicious sandwiches. Safe: people often-leave their laptops and belongings unattended as a lot of the people are regulars and watch after each other's things. This also seems to be the spot that the police hangs out at, whom are friendly yet watchful and protective of the area. read more

I come here to study all the time, and whenever I do I can easily find a nice spot - even when it's packed. The coffee is great and the food is awesome - they have gluten free bread and a a variety of sandwiches. I'm no coffee expert but the coffee is always on point. They have lattes made with unique recipes, which I'm guessing they came up with (I once drank the one with white chocolate and lavender, which was awesome). Even though I come here to study, I would also come here with a friend to chat and grab a bite. The ambiance is very nice, especially when it's snowing outside and they put the tealights on the tables in the evening. Oh and their choice of music is awesome. GREAT VIBE NOT SO GREAT FOR DOGS Ive been going to Sasso regularly for over six months now and the places reputation is spot on. Love this place the atmosphere and the food HOWEVER IT IS NOT CONSISTENTLY DOG FRIENDLY. I have seen many a dog sitting inside with their owner while they eat; and my room mate has taken my dog there to sit many times with the blessings of staff. She was told it was fine to sit and eat with him there. Today however we were told to "get out" literally. I have never written a review before but quite frankly it was very upsetting for my room mate who has been in numerous times with him without problems. He was well behaved the whole time we were there today and we experienced zero problems with other staff members. What can Sasso do ? Reinforce rules consistently through all shifts and all activity levels inside the store! No one should feel unwelcome in a place they have been welcome in before and told to leave with all their food. Especially how we were. If one dog is allowed to sit inside well behaved(and it isnt a service dog) then so should other dogs. I will be sadly finding another place to get my dog his puppaccino as I no longer feel safe nor welcome at the establishment. read more

This is my go to spot for coffee and breakfast in Rochester. If you live anywhere near Park Ave it's probably yours too! Coffee is fantastic and so is the breakfast. I highly recommend the Jive Turkey on a sesame bagel if you've never had it. Art and decor inside is awesome and interesting to look at while waiting in line. Semi hiding on a corner of Park Ave is this cafe, coffee shop/cocktail lounge. Walking in is a blast from the 60's. Fabulous oil paintings rock the walls. The staff gets A plus for service, knowledge of drinks/food, friendliness and even attractiveness! Other patrons were friendly and range in ages from 20 to around 80. Great unpretentious place to meet with new or old friends. Coffee drinks are reasonably priced and my latta was topped off with a lovely leaf pattern. Alcoholic beverages have interesting creative names and ingredients, which are served by these naturally glowing humans. Tables are spacious but intimate, seating outside and high table views allowed by windows. Nice natural lighting and great music. Mood is 'all welcome to the table' and extremely inviting. I was very sad when Boulder closed, then very happy when the next best thing happened and Cafe Sasso was essentially the exact same place. Since I get the same basic thing every time (coffee with a flavor shot) I haven't noticed too many changes. Decor is like 5% different, and they have an updated happy hour menu which I don't think existed like that before? I still want to try it. Also, good times on not needing a key for the bathroom anymore. It's laid back, you can sit there for hours, everyone is nice and the music is decent. My only slight "meh" is that it is so cold there during the summer that I have to wear a separate outfit just for coming to the coffee shop. Can't get away with wearing shorts in there for an hour! I would rate it 3 1/2 stars, mostly ur coffee will turn out good based on the barista. It's a 50-50 for me. Sometimes I get the experiences baristas who make my coffee sooo good and then there's other times when I'm not so lucky. Hands down the best cup of coffee in Rochester. I love the flavored blends, so smooth and flavorful. I am not a fan of Glen Edith or Joe Bean as I find their coffee bitter and old tasting and much prefer a mild flavorful coffee.
