Grabbing brunch on a Friday morning was extremely hectic here but thankfully well worth the wait. We ordered the latte, chicken empanadas, Caleño Sandwich, Morcilla Colombiana, and Guayaba Pastry. Chicken empanadas were delicious. Very well seasoned and filled although slightly dry from sitting under a heat lamp. I imagine having these fresh would be amazing. The caleno sandwich was also good however smaller than I thought it would be. The egg was buttery and melted well with the cheese. The morcilla Colombiana was slightly dry but again, the flavor was great. Lastly, the guava pastry was my favorite! So flakey and sweet! I could eat 5 more of these. Overall, this cafe is an incredible addition to the neighborhood. The hype is worth it for sure. If going during peak hours expect to wait. The food is consistently good, and I've enjoyed ordering empanadas for my coworkers and me. However, I was disappointed to receive only one hot sauce with a multi-item order. To avoid confusion on a future order, I called ahead to explain that the empanadas were for multiple people and politely requested a hot sauce for each one. The employee sounded a bit annoyed and informed me that additional sauce would require an extra charge, and that she would only include more "as a one-time courtesy." I then asked if four people walked in and each bought an empanada, would each empanada come with its own sauce--she confirmed yes. It's frustrating that ordering online doesn't offer the same consideration. Clearer consistency between in-store and online orders would go a long way in improving the customer experience. read more

The older woman that works there doesn't understand English and when she had this girl come over who looks like she might be the manager of the place I showed her my mobile order she Intentionally gave me an attitude when I was really respectful and patient just waiting to get a hold of someone . And apparently they didn't start on my order at all and for her to be petty and take literally 20 people before even handing the food+ drinks it was just honestly extremely ignorant and bias. I know I don't speak Spanish but I was very respectful and patient. I ordered mobile order waited an hour before I came for my "asap" order and I had to wait 1 hour at the place or in the place both the times I went after my recent review. It's crazy because I beefed up this place to so many people and recommended it as well! It's ridiculous cause I spend around $40-60 when I go buying 5 drinks at a time and a bag of food! It's extremely ridiculous. I also never complain at all that my takeout orders are wrong cause I'm trying to support the place so it's even more outrageous that I get treated like that. Cafe Tinto looks like it has the perfect making for a Colombian crossover for Americans. The place stands out with a nice storefront and a friendly chalkboard sign outside welcoming you in. Once inside the shop itself is small and made for people to either pick up to go or for a quick bite on a stool. As for what we ordered, I was happy to see they had empandas, pan de bonos, deditos de queso y arepas! All the makings of a healthy Colombian breakfast platter. My husband and I had just come from having lunch down the street but picked up a few things for breakfast the next day. We got a meat and cheese empanada - I would personally always go with the meat in a Colombian place, they are way better. We also picked up a dedito de queso - which is similar to a cheese stuffed crossaint. The dough was good, but the inside was SO SALTY! Thankfully I was eating it with a cup of sweetened coffee the next day, otherwise it would've been too much. My biggest disappointment was the pan con queso - it is a giant loaf of bread with cheese. Usually it has cheese inside and the dough is very soft and almost milky tasting, and this one was not. It lacked some love, or butter and definitely cheese. Prices are very inexpensive and well worth taking your chances on trying some items. Parking is pretty terrible in the area, but if drive downt he block, you will certainly find something. Overall, I would absolutely come back and try some other baked goods. read more

I'm obsessed with Cafe Tinto. Their coffee's strong, their baked goods are on point, and they've got a hearty lunch special with super flavorful rice, beans and meat. I haven't tried their breakfast sandwiches, but they've got good reviews from my coworkers. I had my first buñuelo this morning and it was an emotional experience. Perfect balance of crispy and fluffy, salty and a little sweet. I also really like the guava and cheese pastry and the tres leches cake, and the empanadas are ohmygoodness! The chicken empanada especially is beautifully seasoned. And what really makes Cafe Tinto sing is how spectacular the staff are. The women who work there are so friendly, adept at switching languages to accommodate their customers, happy to explain all their menu items and make suggestions. This is really close to my house so on early mornings, when I have to be out and about but don't have time to cook breakfast, this is the wave. Expect a line, but that's not always a bad thing. That just shows this place is good. Price is amazing. Coffee is the best -- Columbian, done right. And the staff is always friendly. I try to learn Spanish while I'm there. They have the softest bread in the city. Bus leaves me right in front of the building for a quick bite & a coffee.

This place is UNDER-RATED! Everything is delicious! I always go in for the cheese bread and arepas! I always just point to what I want bc I don't wanna look like a fool trying to roll my "r's" .
