When Sank suggested we stop at the bakery for breakfast, I was game. I'd never been to a Colombian bakery before and was thrilled to stop. He just pointed and I went along with it. Aside from the empanadas, I don't know the name of anything we ordered, but it was all delicious. And still hot when we got it back home. I loved the spicy green dipping sauce, which I used on everything. My favorite was definitely a round ball filled with some type of hard cheese. It had a good texture and was tasty. The empanadas were well-filled and excellent; I super enjoyed everything else, too. Now that I'm in the know, I'll be on the look out for Colombian bakeries wherever I go.

This is the section of 5th street in N.Philly I always have to tell myself to be patient while driving. There are tons of small Latin American bakeries and eateries where at any given time there are cars doubled parked. I was pleasantly surprised to find few empty parking spots this Saturday morning around 9:30am. Colombian bakery is so easy to miss because it's a small store and kind of blends with other store fronts. There are maybe about 2-3 tables, and a short counter facing the wall where about 3 people can sit. It is a small store. This Saturday morning I stood in line waiting with probably about 4 people ahead of me and about 6-7 people behind me (and more people kept coming in). I was the only Asian there I felt like I was transported back to when I was in Peru or Puerto Rico and I was the only non Latina and a non Spanish speaker. I was all ready to use charade like gestures to tell them what I wanted, but the lady who served me spoke English. In fact she was really helpful and nice. Other customers also pointed to different bread they liked for me to try. While I was waiting they kept bringing more trays of fresh bread/buns out! I bought about 9 different items (one of them being a large loaf of bread) and I only paid $13.50! Arepa was so tasty and filling! Empanadas were super delicious! I think they use the mixture of corn and flour dough (loved it)! Other bread/buns were great, but my all time favourite was the "cheese" ball bun!! Omg, I loved it so much I sent my husband back to get some more! It's a bit crunchy on the outside, and very spongy and fluffy inside. It kind of reminded me of Chinese egg sponge cake, except this had subtle cheese flavour (and it is not sweet). This probably will be my go to place on Saturday mornings. Their hot chocolate is yummy too, and next time I may get their coffee. I saw them make coffee the "Latin" way where they pour hot milk, add a spoonful of sugar, and add coffee - yum! This place is about 20-25 min from where I live, but hey, I will go for their awesome bread!

Stopped in for breakfast takeout. Ordered: empanada which were a little small but tasted great, buñuelos and almojábanas were amazing. The almojábana melted in my mouth. Avena was great. And they were very fast. Would definitely come back.

The if you have never been to Colombia and had Pandebono's or Almojabana's. There is no need to go, they are here in Philly and worth a trip.

I come here for cheesy bread that comes two ways, as rolls and circular tube. Both are fantastic. Get them fresh out of the oven!

This is a great place with authentic cuisine. We started with the chicken Empanadas which were crispy on the outside and full of delicious flavors on the inside. I'm sorry we didn't try the beef and cheese ones...maybe next time. The seafood paella was full of shrimp, octopus, mussels and chorizo over seasoned rice with fried onions, red peppers and peas. The chorizo was so good I got a few to take home. The ropa vieja was beef which was slow cooked to the point of falling apart and melting in your mouth with potatoes and a side of rice. There were three in my party and we all had at least seconds and still had some leftovers. Very enjoyment meal and would recommend.

I preferred to sit outside, so I was eventually able to grab a table and a menu. It took a little while for someone to bring water and utensils. By the time they came over, I was already ready to order. I ordered the bistec encebollado and was impressed by the portion size! they give you a generous amount of steak. Unfortunately, the steak had quite a bit of fat around it, which isn't my favorite. When the food arrived, the rice was packed into a small cup, which made me think everything would be served hot. Unfortunately, none of the food was warm. Everything was room temperature and lacked flavor. Because it took a while for my meal to arrive, I got the impression that it may have been sitting out before being served. I ate it as it was because I didn't want to wait any longer. Taste-wise, the steak needed more seasoning, although the beans were good. Overall, the meal was average. After finishing, I asked for both a to-go box and the check. About 10 minutes later, the check arrived, but no box. One employee, William, really stood out. Whenever he stopped by, he was attentive, friendly, and on top of things. I appreciated his service and how proactive he was in checking on guests. Overall, the service had some delays, the food temperature was disappointing, and the flavors were underwhelming, not sure if I'll try this place again.

To avoid confusion on a future order, I called ahead to explain that the empanadas were for multiple people and politely requested a hot sauce for each one. The employee sounded a bit annoyed and informed me that additional sauce would require an extra charge, and that she would only include more "as a one-time courtesy." I then asked if four people walked in and each bought an empanada, would each empanada come with its own sauce--she confirmed yes. It's frustrating that ordering online doesn't offer the same consideration. Clearer consistency between in-store and online orders would go a long way in improving the customer experience.
