For starters, when I got home, the salad dressing exploded when I took the lid off the plastic container. Needless to say , I made my own dressing., Secondly, the so called greek salad was mostly made of iceberg lettuce and some of it had brown edges on it. Scanty overripe tomatoes.Hardly any feta cheese, (I had to fish for it.) Same goes for the cucumber or green pepper. Total waste of money. I won't be back. read more

We were visiting and went in to grab some Greek food , and the interesting fusion in the name . It has a homely touch to everything- the staff is nice, the crowd is all families and it all adds up to give a small town friendly atmosphere! As with all Greek restaurants, the ambiance is America diner. Where they lost me is I ordered a gyro platter. I expected a gyro with fries. What I got was a pile of gyro meat, sort of a deconstructed gyro. I don't think they make those massive rotating slabs of gyro meat in house, I imagine they buy it from a distributor. Add froze fries and some lettuce from a bag, not too much to get excited about. Maybe I ordered poorly. read more

Friendly staff, prices are fine, ticket times are fair. Even sitting because I got held up at Home Depot the food tasted good when I got home to eat it. My only complaint is they put all of the dips into one container which didn't fly with the Mrs.. I would have preferred three containers of dip but the spicy tzatziki was pretty tasty. Wifey likes hummus but it was in the middle of two cucumber dips so she kind of skipped. Had the Greek sampler for two. Basically four meals for two adults for $40. Not bad. read more

I wanted something for lunch and came across this place. I called in my order of the haddock meal with yellow rice and spinach. When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and seen where to pay. I told the lady my name and she grabbed my food and I paid. When I dug in the meal was very good. On a Wednesday morning at 11 am, no line no wait. Welcomed and seated in a very cozy little restaurant. Any place that has eastern rite icons at the reception desk works for me! Ordered within minutes. Nicole right on the money in terms of prompt, warm service. My avgilemmono soup was indeed very good and new to me. Just the right touch of lemon. My husband's gyro omelette could have fed a family of four but was also tasty and extremely satisfying and he housed it lol. The homemade Greek hot sauce he rated as " very nice". In terms of the facility, this was the only drawback. Men's room out of service, and only one of two stalls in women's room was working. Should we come back this way again, I'm coming for a gyro as I'm sure it will be Greekly satisfying!! read more

A gem in Dickson City. Good Greek food, friendly service and much better choice than all the chain restaurants in town.

The food was hot and delicious. My colleague ordered the house gyro. It was more than plenty of food for the gyro itself. We ordered one order of fries and it was plenty to split. The reason I did not rank this higher was due to the service. The restaurant only had 3 or 4 additional patrons but the servers were slow to take our order as they were conversing about personal matters. After we received our food the service was better and they were more attentive. The ambiance was very laid back and quiet. Good place to eat if you want to be able to converse without having to try to take over other patrons or loud music. The pricing was reasonable for the amount of food that you received. I'm not a huge fan of Greek food but I would visit this location again if I had that craving. Looks can be deceiving as it truly looks like a hole in the wall. Very disappointed to have to leave this review, but this restaurant knowingly employs thieves. A $20 bill fell out of my 16y/os pocket as we were seated. The woman that seated us, big, stout, bleached white-blonde with thin eyebrows and a mean face, purposefully stepped on it as she walked away and picked it up when she thought we weren't looking. We were shocked. My teen earns that money herself at her minimum wage job. How incredibly low must you be to steal from a little girl. Was it worth it? Was whatever junk you threw the money away on worth stealing from a little girl? We held off on doing anything until we had finished our meal because we knew she'd deny it and we didn't want our food to be spat in - but as we were leaving we spoke to the owner of the restaurant. The man, Michail, was reluctant to do anything when we informed him of the kind of people he was employing and my teen left without being given her hard-earned money back. I'm sure he refused to do anything because this woman was family, isn't that always the case, but think about it Michail. If she's stealing from a little girl, why wouldn't she be stealing from you? If you can't find it in yourself to care about others, at least think of yourself. Reader, please don't give your money to this place, I'm sure they're taking plenty. read more

I was passing through en route to New England and my what a find. It's one of the best Greek meals I've ever had in my life. The owner and his wife - both native Greeks from the Island of Knossos - had a restaurant on Staten Island for many years. Man were my wife and I delighted. We had grilled Octopus, Greek Salad (not the kind you usually get these days with tons of oil and feta slathered all over the place, but with cream giving a really subtle blend of flavors. The lemon soup with chicken was also made in this manner, and the pork chops and lamb shank with Manestra (orzo in a tomato broth) were delicious. For dessert, we had NY style cheesecake (real NY!) and an orange square, which had zest baked into the pastry (dish specific to Knossos). I wanted to buy loaves of the home made bread with butter and oregano, again not the type of "garlic bread" you get in restaurants these days with tons (too much) of butter and cheese but very subtle blend of flavors. Yum ! This was all the better because we were not expecting to find a place like this here. NB they are BYOB but there is a wine shop about a mile down the street where you can find a good selection of wines. Wonderful experience with great ownership and service. read more

What a great find! We were driving from Virginia back to Albany and stopped for dinner near Scranton. We were both feeling Greek and rolled up to the Greek American Eatery. I got a classic gyro, my wife for a falafel, we shared some tzatziki and pita and some baklava for dessert. Everything was incredible. I usually prefer my tzatziki with lots of cucumber chunks but this was much smoother and it was just as enjoyable. The gyro meat was clearly fresh off the spit and was super tender and the baklava was to die for. Moreover, the service was exceptional. The two hostesses we spoke to (Melena and Veronica, I believe, sorry if I'm wrong) were great and helpful and a pleasure to be around. Overall, this was an amazing restaurant with some of the best Greek food I've ever had. Couldn't recommend it more! read more

Driving through the Scranton area and was in the mood for a diner. I went Yelp blind on this selection. I arrived and the place was rather quiet; however, their take-out seemed to be rather busy. The diner is a nice little spot. It has the desire to be Greek authenticate and the establishment has Greek music playing in the background. I walked in (and as mentioned it was rather slow/quiet), but it took a rather long time to be greeted or acknowledged. I was finally able to make eye contact with someone and I asked if it was fine to sit anywhere. They said yes, no problem - made no motion to greet me at all. Food and Menu: The menu is very extensive and you will probably find something to enjoy. I went with the Gyro Platter and it is a generous portion. This was the typical Gyro meal with nothing that made it special or unique to this dinner. The platter comes with a side of french fries which were seasoned rather well. The Gyro meat varied in flavor and some strips were rather dry. Service: It took a long time for a serer to approach. Once I got a menu and placed my order the food came rather quickly. The server was nice and friendly and made an effort to ensure that I was enjoying my meal. Overall: The diner was fine. Owned by a couple from the Island of Knossos (Greece), it carries all the specialities of the cuisine, far more than what I have seen at the usually commercialized Mediterranean eateries. - The Greek Sampler for two, is THE shiz. Well seasoned Gyro, pork skewers, chicken skewers, falafel, meatballs served with exotic varieties of dipping (I haven't even heard some of the names before).
