Love love love this caffe! I've only been coming here for about 18 years. Pick up a frozen or iced coffee, stop by for late night giant slice of decadent cake or have it all over a long lunch. My favorite menu item is the avocado salad with grilled chicken. The mango dressing they serve with this is just delicious ! Everything is fresh and wonderful. This weekend I picked up a small catered avocado salad with grilled chicken ($55). I had ordered this to feed 14 women. We had plenty left over ( also served this salad as a side and not the main course- but it really does go a long way). I walked into a really packed Caffe Caffe. This place is very popular. I order the Smoked Turkey Sandwich with honey mustard on the side. The service was okay. The sandwich was okay. That is until I added the honey mustard. This made the sandwich great. This was some of the best honey mustard I've ever had. Top 3 without a doubt. Rich, smooth, creamy and flavorful. Today, a family friend treated me to lunch at Cafe Cafe, and it was an excellent experience. I've actually been here a few times before over the past ten years, and I can't say that I've ever had a bad experience. The breakfasts are hot and fresh, and the salads for lunch are pretty and tasty. Today, I had the Roquefort salad with blue cheese, tomatoes, eggs, bacon, and a vinaigrette. Each ingredient was laid out in colorful, contasting rows over a generous portion of romaine lettuce. I LOVE roquefort, and all of the ingredients in the salad complimented the taste of the cheese. I also like that they offer an herbal iced tea since I don't drink caffeinated beverages. The herbal tea for today was berry flavored. It was refreshing, but not overly fruity. I was really happy to see that it came unsweetened. Sandwitches and soups are also offered for lunch, along with a few wraps for those who want a lower carb meal. The service is always really friendly and efficient, and the interior is bright, clean, and welcoming. The creamy yellow walls are nicely illuminated by ample windows on all sides of the cafe. When you walk in, there is a long bar where you can order to go or to dine in. Since servers do not really wait on tables, the staff is really focused and making sure you get your delicious meal as quickly as possible, along with drinks and pastries. Speaking of pastries, the creme brulee here is an absolute must have if you are looking for a little personal indulgence that won't make you feel overly full after your lunch. As for location, it's conveniently located a few blocks from Roberts market, and it isn't far from Veterans and Clearview Mall. If you ever want to catch a matinee, this is a great place for lunch before or afterward. There are also two drug stores and a gardening center within a block. This is why Cafe Cafe is always packed! Years ago, I used to stop in here with a couple of friends every Wednesday night for coffee and a slice or piece of one of their awesome desserts. Many nights, it was hard to decide which sweet pastry I would settle on. I had to limit myself to just one, or eventually I wouldn't fit through the doors. Habits change and its been a while since I was last here. Recently I was in the neighborhood and thought I would stop in for a cup of coffee for old time sake. Oddly enough, the cafe didn't seem changed from the images of my memories. The coffee was alright. There was a decent selection of desserts, enough to tempt almost anyone off a diet. The dessert display did look picked over, so there must of been a lot of temptation earlier in the morning. Good sized crowd for mid-morning; enough people to generate that buzz around the ears from several different groups talking, possibly a shade on the loud side, but not screaming. Parking wasn't bad, but I was here well before the lunch crowd. The cafe was clean; someone is obviously keeping the place up. Service was acceptable. Quick and efficient. read more

We try to check out a different breakfast spot at least twice a month. This was on my list so off we went. The place is hopping on a Sunday morning it was moving and grooving people coming in all the time. You order at the counter and that is where the menus are so it was a bit tricky to excuse yourself 10 times to reach a menu on the counter. I think next time I will look at menu online first. That said the scrambled eggs were AMAZING !!! Best I have had ! We also bought a piece of German chocolate cake a piece of angel food cake and a apple fritter. The pieces are large. The angel good cake was fabulous! Just the right texture ...if I hadn't finished it I would have brought it home and put berries on it. I have been a loyal customer as I live in the neighborhood but today the food and service was really poor. The sandwich had almost no turkey on it and the soup was just heavy cream, no shrimp or coconut flavor as it says it is. I went to the cashier and told her about this and her response was "sorry I can't take it back once you tried it". Unbelievable for a place where customer service and food has been great before. Today, I stopped to get my cappuccino and almond croissant before my doctor's appointment. The cappuccino and croissant makes the doctor's appointment better. I used to live just down the street, but now I moved to Westbank. Whenever I am in Metairie, I try to stop by this place for their delicious cakes. The Almond wedding cake is my favorite. I love that they sell fresh orange juice and that they offer a large selection of assorted food, desserts, coffees and tea. This is one of my favorite places to get a slice of cake in the city. On my most recent trip I bought a rum cake ($25) for a coworker and it was delicious. Everyone was actually ranting and raving how great the flavor was. The lady on the phone said it would only serve 8 of us, but it easily fed all 11 of us. The only thing that would have made the rum cake better is if I picked up a gallon of Ice cream. My other favorite things to get here is the caffe freeze and the mile high cake. More like a 3.5. Driving around Metairie and I stumble across Caffe Caffe. I wanted a nice coffee and a tasty brunch after a stressful day. So I ordered the Avocado & Grilled Chicken Salad with a slice of the Billionaire's Cake. For the good, I will definitely say the meals. Their salads seem to be the best thing in everyone's opinion and I agree. The fresh avocado, with nice greens, and slices of chicken were yummy. The mango dressing was also very delicious. It was like a mini fruit puree that I could sip all by itself. For the cake, I did not really know what to expect before buying it. Basically a chocolaty mix that was alright. The only thing that really annoyed me when coming here was the service. It seems to be run by a bunch of highschoolers taking orders and twirling their hair with their fingers. They probably have no culinary sense and no credible opinions on the menu. After I ordered I waited for about 5 minutes for my food. I see somebody place two to-go boxes at the pickup line. I stare at it waiting for my name or number to be called. Nothing...5 minutes later my patience has gone and I walk up to the counter. The girl behind it stares at me and says nothing. I give her some time to think, but nope she still ignores me. So i say "Is this my food" and she says yes. Well thanks for letting me know 15 minutes later that my food was ready instead of making me wait like an idiot. This really frustrated me as you can see by my rant. This is a really cute cafe that serves baked goods, coffee and lunch. I have driven by Caffe Caffe several times and never would have imagined such a cute place inside. They had a lot of baked goods to chose from, coffee drinks (to drink there or to go) and they played great music in the back ground. I got the iced lemon pound cake (HUGE SLICE!!) and my husband for the blueberry muffin- he says it resides in the top 3 of the city so far but I have been more impressed with others around the city. This is your basic coffee cafe with desserts, salads and sandwiches that could be in Anytown, U.S.A. They have some pretty good cheese cake and the iced tea and coffee are decent. This just wasn't a place that appealed to me very much, it just wasn't my type of place, as I don't really like coffee shops to begin with but they can serve as good work spots but I can't see getting much work done here. We have driven by often, and I have always been curious about this place. Our friends suggested it, so we took them up on it. We stopped in for dessert. They have a very large display case full of many cakes and pies to choose from. The cakes are huge! We split a piece of the Pumpkin Cheesecake and the Apple Praline Pie. Both were excellent. One of the female cashiers here is a true hustler, and should move on up to Larry Flynt's Hustler Club, where I am sure she would do very well. I ordered grits topped with eggs, bacon and cheese, and an orange juice. Total was $8.30. I gave her a $10 bill and she cheerfully dismissed me with, "Ten dollars. No change. Thank you!" She did not even ask me if I wanted my change back, she TOLD me "no change" as if she was entitled to it. She took my order at the counter, did not take it table-side nor did she deliver food. She even failed to give me a receipt, so I had no idea what my number was when it was time to pick up my food. The food was average. It was hot but was pretty bland. The place was crowded, seats too close together. My companions on either side of me kept knocking into me, and the man directly behind me had his chair pushed up against the back of mine. This place has been here for ages. I've passed by many times. Why not try out. Let me start off by saying that what this place has going is its location and relatively large space for a coffee shop. Even though its big it doesn't feel like a cafeteria. I'm not going to say it's dirty, but when I came in there were tables that needed some cleaning. It was Saturday morning rush and there were clean tables available. I ordered the egg white spinach wrap, a bagel and a side of sausage patties. My conclusion regarding the food is that they don't emphasize on quality or culinary expertise. The sausage patties weren't the best and definitely frozen. The spinach tortilla wasn't heated, just pulled out the bag onto the dish. The bagel was fine except that the cream cheese for which I was charged was one of those little to-go packets.(very "fast-foody") Not to mention that I had to pickup my breakfast at the counter rather than it being brought to my table like they do at Chateaux Cafe. I feel like this establishment can use a revitalization. In Orleans parish, it couldn't survive on its borderline mediocrity. I'm saying its bad, just not good. But you couldn't ask for a better location with ample parking. Would I comeback? On purpose, probably not. By chance, maybe. I gave it 3 stars, but deserved 2.5. read more

This is a place that I come back to again and again. I actually drive OUT of New Orleans to come here :) Great coffee that they roast themselves and every dessert I've ever had here rocked my world. It's a great place to meet a friend for coffee. I hear their lunches are really good too... I've just never gotten past the desserts. I'd eat two just to make it enough for lunch. The grooms cake is a milk chocolate cake that my five year old devoured. She loves chocolate but this was extraordinary. She said so herself. She preferred it over my darker chocolate cake. The cheesecake is really good too. Aw heck. It's all freakin' good. Just come here. I can see this place being a great place to meet someone for a blind date aka internet date! It's a Sunday, it's a cafe and they are open -- yum breakfast! Not. Not only do they not do breakfast at all, the kitchen is not open on Sundays. Just pastries, muffins and drinks. All was not a fail however; based on a recommendation from a co-worker, I ordered a slice of coconut cream pie to go. Ate it later that night and I kid you not -- it was the BEST coconut cream pie I've ever had. The manager is the epitome of arrogance and rudeness. She referred tome and my partner as THOSE TWO, when I asked an employee to turn off the ceiling fans when were making our seating area too cold and uncomfortable. She refused to turn them off and screamed that it was a certain temperature outside and she would not accommodate THOSE TWO referring to my partner and I , who eat there 7 days a week ! Several times I get to go orders and later discover that she neglected to include all items in my bag thus having to drive all the way back there and hassle to get the paid for items, instead of getting a sincere apology, she gives me a NASTY look like I was bothering her! The red beans and rice always had large clumps of rice stuck together, horrible. The desserts are mediocra and overpriced. The angle food cake is stale and rubbery, Having to beg over and over for crackers to accompany an overpriced bowl of soup is beyond rude, having the crackers almost thrown at me was the result. There is a very old man who works there who cleans the parking lot of litter who has the nerve to make very inappropriate comments to my partner. The floors do not look like they are mopped regularly and the tables are sticky like they have not been properly cleaned. The bathroom there has garbage cans that are not cleaned over over pouring of women's personal menestration items, very repulsive. The avocado salad is overpriced and skimpy on quality greens which are cheap. I have stopped going there as a result of being treated like garbage and no I am not an African American so it is not due to their being racists, they are rude and offensive to me , I am a professional CPA and my partner is a real estate agent. Do not go there, go to Sho Gun or Drago's where the employees at least pretend to be polite and professional . The employees at Caffe Cafee act like they really resent their customers and could not care less what you think, they made many rude out loud derogatory comments about my partner that were totally uncalled for and hurtful. read more

This place is always busy, so I try to stay away during lunch time. The food is great, yet a little over priced, and the service is quick. I tend to get the same thing when I come here. The chicken croissant add avocado. Its a thick grilled chicken breast on top of a croissant with sweet peas, avocado, and a honey mustard dressing served with chips. They tend to go heavy on the sauce, so if you don't want it dripping down your arm make sure to ask for light sauce. read more
