Came here twice in a month. Accessible via the T but I drove and found street parking nearby without much hassle. First time was a Saturday at 10:30am following a few inches of snow so there weren't many people inside and it was nice and quiet with plenty of seating. I ordered an iced chai latte and it was pumped out fast and with good attitude. Second time was a Sunday at 10:30am and there was a lot more people. Line/wait was quite long, they didn't have vanilla, and barista was a bit all over the place. I did manage to get one of the last few seats and do enjoy how many different seating arrangements they have. It's in a convenient location for me so I'll likely be back again but I'll save it for when weather inconveniences everyone else. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. They just have very odd, sometimes rude, customer service. Today I came in and all the food from where they normally have the sandwiches was on top of the counter, one plate of food on top of the other. The person behind the counter greeted me with "Everything's up here." How tempting! I asked if they were closing, and no, she was just cleaning the case. Not sure why you would do that in the middle of the day. She then asked me if there was anythinv I wanted. There wasn't. I then went next door to the Starbuck's where everything was clean, the employyes were friendly, and the food is displayed behind the counter. It tastes like what I imagine the food-flavored packets would taste like in a Brave New World, this being the chemically rendered one that's meant to imitate squash. Oddly the mocha frappe is similar: a flavorless drink of ice-sludge that's redolent of coffee but clearly made from a bottle labeled "artificial coffee flavor". read more

Barista was soooo rude. I walked in and was immediately asked something along the lines of "what's up?" by the cashier/barista as she stood to take my order (I think?) while looking bothered that I walked in. I told her I'd need a second to look at the menu. I had never been there before and the sandwiches looked like they'd been sitting out all day, but was hungry so I was looking for something that looked appetizing. My two friends who walked in a moment behind me sat a table, and I walked over to ask them what they wanted so that I could order for all of us on the same tab to make easier. Not even a minute after stepping out of line, the same glaring barista came over to us and said "if you're not going to order anything, I have to ask you to leave. You can't just be in here." I told her we'd like to order and she said "well you're just drinking that" (pointing to a water I brought in with me) and I said again that we understand and we'd like a coffee and we are going to order, but she insisted we leave. There were maybe four customers in the store at this time (2pm on a Friday), so it was odd that she was rushing us. We felt targeted. We left immediately and just ordered our coffee a few doors down. The three stars here are completely for the study space. Love the historic feel of the coffee shop and the mahogany, wooden tables! Does have outlets for you to study. The latte was not anything special, actually couldn't taste any notes - but very sweet/upbeat staff and loved that she was so patient to give recs. read more

They have this tahini latte with black sesame seeds that is simply wonderful and like nothing I've ever tasted before. it's not something I would want every time, but just wow. My iced vanilla latte happened to taste more like milk than coffee so I was slightly disappointed however the ham and cheese croissant and chocolate espresso muffin were divine and made up for the coffee. We also had a mocha which was good but not amazing. read more

Caffe Nero is probably my favorite chain coffee shop in Boston. They have solid coffee and pastries (palmier, blueberry muffin, turkey and cheese croissant are all good!!) for a decent price. I love the Brookline location for studying! Tip: complimentary WiFi for 3 hours! read more

I love the fact caffe Nero is growing in the area! Since we are moving to Brookline and have recently enrolled our son in preschool near Brookline Village, we were ecstatic to have a neighborhood Nero where we can spend all of our disposable income. The baristas at all locations I've frequented are all great but the people here are my favorite! They may make fun of the fact i ask for peppermint in my white mocha well past Christmas. When I come with the hub, I'll find a seat while he orders and if I happen to get something different they'll say "what no peppermint today?" :) Like other locations, a seat is a commodity. It makes me happy to see this place crowded though because I want this place to be around forever. Basically everything you get here (and the chain itself) is yummy. The patrons and the staff are all courteous. We always love coming in. You'll be seeing a lot more of us soon! read more

Nice place. My fiance and I stumbled upon this place when trying to kill time before an event we had planned. I also needed to charge my phone. It was like the cousin of Starbucks. A lot of people in there on their laptops too. Only issue I had was they had a huge sign advertising their "best" frozen coffee milkshake ever, and then when we ordered it, they said they were out. It wasn't even late in the day yet. Sooooo, instead I got my usual chai latte. 'Tis life. Then my fiance ordered a caramel frappuccino, but they made him a caramel latte instead. I told him to get it exchanged, but he didn't want to be bothered. Still, the coffee/espresso in general was spot on. Smooth espresso finish. Not a bad option to sit down for an afternoon coffee and get some things done! (If you're the type of person who wants some background noise and not cacophonic, not so-big coffee shop to study - this is one of them.) Went here on a Saturday afternoon and had no problem finding an empty table. I opted for their cold brew, but it was a little too bitter for my liking. Their hot Mocha was great, though and surprisingly portion was more generous than expected. I think service could have been a bit more effective - we had to wait for our order to be up before we pay - and I think that slows down service in general. This Caffe Nero reminds me of a wonderful coffee shop in Amherst MA. The staff are friendly! This is a huge deal because it's so rare in the Boston area. They will chit chat with you and advise you as to what is tasty. It they will just get to work and quickly check you out. The decor is hipster contemporary and it screams Brookline is so many ways. It looks like you can actually try the books in this location. The coffee is trulygourmet as are the sandwiches. They do ice cold drinks and have lots of different cakes including flourless chocolate cake. It is a great place to hang out and get work done or just to read. They have a multitude of chairs. Some of which are quite cushioned and comfortable. It has an eclectic mix of spotlights, unusual lamps, varying in light output. This is the type of place where a couple would meet in an artsy movie. Not good coffee at all. Watered down, flavorless, unaromatic, no richness, extremely bitter, no quality. Coffee should be rich, flavorful and SMOOTH, not bitter. But it's very hard to find good coffee in America. Quantity usually trumps quality. It's all about high turnover and larger profit margin. And quality goes right out the window. The food is not appealing either. I like fresh baked bread with my coffee. (As most real coffee drinkers do as well). Bread and butter. A sandwich with real bread. There's none of that. Their food and coffee is about the level of airplane food and coffee. You're not paying for quality of product. You are paying for that cushy seat you can sit at for hours and enjoy their free wifi. As long as you buy something. No coffee culture whatsoever. Everyone sits alone engrossed in their computer or phone doing work I guess? I wish there was a Cuban/Hispanic and or European breakfast/coffee place in the area. One with REAL coffee and fresh baked bread and good quality food and a more vibrant, energetic, friendlier ambience. But they don't really exist in Boston. So this is about as good as it gets. This Caffe Nero is everything you could want in a cafe. Like all Caffe Nero locations, the food and drinks are fantastic. This location is especially great because it's spacious. There are plenty of tables and seats available, though it can be difficult to find space for a large group during peak hours. Still a nice space for studying or chatting with a friend over coffee, and their food/coffee is fine for a cafe, but I've found that some staff are great and others are pretty rude. My new favorite cafe to work in here in Brookline. They've got good, cheap coffee and tea, the sandwiches and pastries are on point, and the wifi is consistent. The only potential problem I could think of is that they're often crowded, but barring a particularly rude group of people who don't get that they don't need to scream at each other to be heard, things generally stay calm enough that getting work done isn't a problem. This place is equally good for a quick snack, grabbing a coffee, or settling in for a few hours of work. That ticks all of boxes easily. read more
