There's nothing special about the actual cafe: it's a Caffe Nero. They do coffee drinks. They're just ok. However, this particular location is all about the people watching. Basically, you either grab one of their coveted tables outside or you sit at the hightop at the big window facing Old Compton Street: the gay/queer catwalk of London. First off none of the coffees in London could compare to our third wave coffees in California but Hideaway Coffee House was the closest. Second the size of a flat white is way smaller and too expensive in London. Nostos was on my list to try and I accidentally went Nero mistaking the name. This was the worst coffee I've ever had from a coffee shop. Just an addendum. I had ordered Eggs Benedict to go nearby and wanted a nicer coffee from a place I thought was on my list. I ran to this place, waited for the person before me to finish her order and just as they started to take my order 3 cops rudely jumped the line and ordered a bunch of stuff. By the time I got back my expensive eggs Benedict was cold with congealed yolk. I don't know why cops feel so entitled. Not even an acknowledgement that they cut me in line. read more

I was staying at a hotel in the area and as opposed to having breakfast at the hotel [and the charges involved} I opted to go for coffee and a croissant at Caffe Nero. It is my favorite coffee shop in the UK. [Starbucks does not have the appeal that Caffe Nero has in the UK.] it is not a large space, a corner store and it is usually very busy. There is seating indoors and outdoors as well and people who smoke tend to sit outside. The staff is very accommodating and one thing I did like about it was that they accepted cash. I had changed money when I arrived and many places [Pret a Manger, the theaters, etc.] would only accept credit cards since COVID. The coffee [cappuccino, espresso] is very good and the baked goods, especially the apricot croissants were excellent. I would heartily recommend this particular Caffe Nero! read more

Really the perfect location to defrost from the chilliness outside in Piccadilly Circus and enjoy the beautiful Xmas lights from the warmth of the cafe ;) The service was wonderful, and there was plenty of seats around the cafe. Since we visited later in the evening, there wasn't as much of a crowd as there could have been during the day. I got a hot chocolate, and my husband got a coffee, and both of them were rich and flavorful and hot! Have to admit, I was thinking the prices would be a lot higher since it is located in a prime location. Wifi was fast as well. Looks like it's a chain restaurant, but definitely met standards (+more w/ the service). Would recommend! read more

I had to give two stars because the guy that helped me was pretty nice, however he forgot napkins ( no big deal) but when I asked the girl that should have been helping him, she ignored me 3 times. By then I was going to get her attention no matter what it took. She was so rude you would have thought I'd asked for a refund! Perhaps I should have...., the cheesecake was cheesecake with a day old muffin broken on top, the coffee nothing to write home about! My tip for this place, Peek In and see a girl behind the counter look at her face you will know to walk out or not. read more

I love this caffe ! The servers/baristas are so nice/funny/sweet, and the coffees are delicious. So far, I have tried the amaretto latte, amaretto mocha, and the apricot croissant -- all have been spectacular! I also tried one of their little turmeric shots they have in the refrigerated section. Strong, but good! They have plenty of inside seating, and outside seating. Just 2 minutes away from Piccadilly Circus, it was heaven for my feet!! I had been walking all day and I was so glad to finally sit down!! Coffee at Caffe Nero is usually decent as in all Caffe Nero. The place was really busy but we didn't have to wait in line too long to be served. On top of coffee, we also had some scones which were served with clotted cream and some raspberry jam. Num num! There was a huge sign stating there was free wifi, but I didn't manage to connect to it (but it could just be that I was just too tired to manage technology) A few things could have been better though: I didn't see anyone actually cleaning the tables - I have seen staff picking up cups an stuff but not actually cleaning! and the worst bit: there was only one toilet and I had to queue for longer for a pee than I had too for my drinks and cakes. read more

The perfect place to people watch on one of the world's premier people-watching streets! Service is good, and the staff friendly and amiable. They don't have enough time to clear the outside tables as often as they need to be, and it concerns me how much litter ends up on the street from this place! I don't blame the staff, I empathize with them as they are so busy! As for the actual cafe, it's pretty much everything you would ever want. The coffees and edibles are all top notch, the location is incomparable, and the staff quirkily, fun, interactive and enjoyable. Tip - get a coffee, sit outside with a friend, and watch the multi-colored and fabulous denizens of Soho parade in front of you all day long! Zero, it's August, I want ice coffees or ice cubes with my drink yet every time I visit I am told there's none even in spite of the company pushing advertising campaigns of their iced coffees and fruit boosters. You either buy an ice machine, increase frequency of ice restocking or you better close down for the summer. read more

Nice spot to people watch in SoHo. They have sidewalk seating and really good drinks. Mocha cafe was delish and the red velvet was pretty good. A little sweet on the icing but it was still good. read more

Since my family have moved back to London from the states, I needed to find a new place to have my "me" time while the children are in school during the day. I used to go to a special Starbucks when we lived in Huntsville, Alabama and I got spoiled by the care with which the staff took care of me and also the free WIFI. Fast forward to now and I have found my new home in Caffe' Nero. Now I can sit outside (when the weather permits) and have a lovely cappuccino and some oatmeal (now on a diet from the weight I gained in the US....) and do the most interesting people watching. I can also sit inside and order my wonderful Italian chocolate which will come to me in a beautiful presentation... oh my taste buds are already tingling thinking about it. I also get free wifi here which is something I didn't expect. The paninis are delish and a fave for lunch- the children love them as well. I think the only downside is that it is such a popular place. When there have been a lot of people sitting outside, the place is in need of fast clean up and sometimes this doesn't always occur. read more

If you're after some serious Fabulous-people-watching (this being the heart of gay-ville we're talking Fabulous with a capital "F"!), you can't get better than this Nero. Their mix of window-lined bar stools and and outdoor seating maximises the people-perusing-possibilities. Unlike my waistline, I love the selection of pastries Nero has to offer and they wash down rather nicely with the smooth, strong coffee blend they serve. One heads up however... the toilets in the basement are less than appealing so my advice is to maybe make it a medium americano rather than a grande, so you can skip the loo rather than skipping to the loo! read more

Like'em or loath'em, Neros generally deliver nice strong bitter coffee to give you that consistent hit, no disappointment for your precious fix for the day (Doctor says one a day good, more bad, Doctor knows best). Americano topped up with hot milk, yes. This Nero especially good with its location, constantly changing mix of people, little outside seats ranged on the pavement - get right up and close to the bustling, kaleidescope atmosphere as you trip up passers by with inadvertantly outstretched legs. Downside is very expensive WiFi access - £3.99 for 45 minutes! - they need to sharpen up there - or you might go to Starbucks - mmm. read more

Fist the location is prime if you love to people watch. The staff is so Italian which of course I love. The coffee shots, latte, cappuccino, an juices are all amazing. Oat an raisin cookies are awesome but honestly pick anything to eat to accompany your drink - you can't go wrong. read more

The Americana iced was pretty tasty and they provided wifi - as a traveling American with no phone service this was really helpful to get caught up on texts/emails. When I arrived at Heathrow Airport the first place I went for a beverage was the Caffe Nero. The Cafe Mocha was great and the gentleman behind the counter offered me a stamp card to fill with 9 stamps to get the tenth one free. EVERY ONE of these establishments I visited over the course of five days was excellent - great coffee, EXCELLENT baked goods and snacks and great service. When I return to London, Caffe Nero will be the place I go for coffee!! And "Yes", I filled the card and received a free coffee beverage on my way out of London. read more

You may be thinking that everyone has been to Cafe Nero, so what is the point in writing a review about it. Fair point. But go to the Cafe Nero on Frith Street Soho and it is a very different experience. I tend to find myself here when I am too tired/bored of dancing but not wanting the night to end. Sitting with a cup of coffee at 3am, Soho (and Nero) is still buzzing with caffeine and people. Starting the night with drinks and chatting, going out and then finishing it in the same way seems perfect to me. There really ought to be more late night coffee shops. Try it. read more

Almost indistinguishable from Starbucks right down to the mediocre coffee and tasteless, chewy pastries. I still give Caffe Nero the nod because its less crowded, has a no-frills approach to its business (its not trying so hard to be a record store or my "third place"), and most importantly offers free Wi-Fi. read more

Nice sized branch in the centre of soho! Its open all night, so after you've had one too many drinks, you can start the process of sobering up with an espresso. The price is reasonable, the staff are welcoming and there are delicious snacks to compliment your hot cup of caffeine. Been here numerous times when I visited London recently. Have tried their cappuccino and the Americano (or what in the U.S. is called regular coffee). I thought both were good and especially liked the Americano which had the right amount of kick not too strong and not too light. Something I noticed in London is when you order an Americano they put the milk in for you unlike in the U.S. where you get your coffee and go to the sugar and milk counter to put it in yourself. Also they have 2 prices one for take away and one for staying in. So if you pay for the take away price your not supposed to stay inside the cafe. Kinda weird since we don't do that in the U.S. Nonetheless I think it's a better alternative to Starbucks. read more

An Englishman goes to a eat-as-much-as-you-like Chinese restaurant in Soho. He asks for a coffee as the drink. The waiteress brings a nice cold coffee with ice and he angrily replies: "I said - a coffee!" The waitress quietly comes back with a hot coffee with milk and sugar on the side. A certain morning I went to Cafe Nero in Clapham Junction. I asked for a Expresso Machiatto which costs £1,50; I paid with a five pound note and received £2,50 as change. My reaction was not immediate, but when I looked again I saw that I had received £1 less in change, so I got back to them and let them know about it. Instead of apologizing, they seemed not to believe me and were taking me for a liar. They started talking like chinkens and didn't seem to care that the customer was just there in front of them asking for nothing more than the reasonable. At the end, I didn't touch the machiatto and will never go back there. IS IT WORTHWHILE TO PAY MORE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE? read more
