Looking out from my table onto the street at Caffe Nero on Frith Street

I was staying at a hotel in the area and as opposed to having breakfast at the hotel [and the charges involved} I opted to go for coffee and a croissant at Caffe Nero. It is my favorite coffee shop in the UK. [Starbucks does not have the appeal that Caffe Nero has in the UK.] it is not a large space, a corner store and it is usually very busy. There is seating indoors and outdoors as well and people who smoke tend to sit outside. The staff is very accommodating and one thing I did like about it was that they accepted cash. I had changed money when I arrived and many places [Pret a Manger, the theaters, etc.] would only accept credit cards since COVID. The coffee [cappuccino, espresso] is very good and the baked goods, especially the apricot croissants were excellent. I would heartily recommend this particular Caffe Nero!

Really the perfect location to defrost from the chilliness outside in Piccadilly Circus and enjoy the beautiful Xmas lights from the warmth of the cafe ;) The service was wonderful, and there was plenty of seats around the cafe. Since we visited later in the evening, there wasn't as much of a crowd as there could have been during the day. I got a hot chocolate, and my husband got a coffee, and both of them were rich and flavorful and hot! Have to admit, I was thinking the prices would be a lot higher since it is located in a prime location. Wifi was fast as well. Looks like it's a chain restaurant, but definitely met standards (+more w/ the service). Would recommend!

I had to give two stars because the guy that helped me was pretty nice, however he forgot napkins ( no big deal) but when I asked the girl that should have been helping him, she ignored me 3 times. By then I was going to get her attention no matter what it took. She was so rude you would have thought I'd asked for a refund! Perhaps I should have...., the cheesecake was cheesecake with a day old muffin broken on top, the coffee nothing to write home about! My tip for this place, Peek In and see a girl behind the counter look at her face you will know to walk out or not.

I love this caffe ! The servers/baristas are so nice/funny/sweet, and the coffees are delicious. So far, I have tried the amaretto latte, amaretto mocha, and the apricot croissant -- all have been spectacular! I also tried one of their little turmeric shots they have in the refrigerated section. Strong, but good! They have plenty of inside seating, and outside seating. Big glass windows on the inside makes it a perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and people-watch. :) Lovely little place that I would recommend to anyone. Carson C. Visalia, California

Nice spot to people watch in SoHo. They have sidewalk seating and really good drinks. Mocha cafe was delish and the red velvet was pretty good. A little sweet on the icing but it was still good.

Great place to relax after a day of shopping. They make great lattes and I also tried their hot chocolate. Their pastries were good as well. Love that they have outdoor seating for the Parisian style people watching.

    Old Compton Street

Right on the junction of Frith Street and Old Compton Street, a corner window to the madcap comings and goings of Soho life. Like'em or loath'em, Neros generally deliver nice strong bitter coffee to give you that consistent hit, no disappointment for your precious fix for the day (Doctor says one a day good, more bad, Doctor knows best). Americano topped up with hot milk, yes. This Nero especially good with its location, constantly changing mix of people, little outside seats ranged on the pavement - get right up and close to the bustling, kaleidescope atmosphere as you trip up passers by with inadvertantly outstretched legs. Downside is very expensive WiFi access - £3.99 for 45 minutes! - they need to sharpen up there - or you might go to Starbucks - mmm.

Fist the location is prime if you love to people watch. The staff is so Italian which of course I love. The coffee shots, latte, cappuccino, an juices are all amazing. Oat an raisin cookies are awesome but honestly pick anything to eat to accompany your drink - you can't go wrong.

So basically the El Jefe has ruined other sandwiches for me. Thanks, Project Sandwich. Sure, I can…read morestill get a decent sandwich elsewhere, enjoy the first few bites but then I realise, oh, this isn't a delicious cuban sandwich lovingly prepared with good quality ingredients that's so huge I could never finish it all. All sandwiches should strive to this level. The first time I had an El Jefe I even saved the half I couldn't eat (I don't do leftovers) as consigning it to the bin was just too sad of a fate. The second time I had one I brought someone else along. The pork has some really interesting spicing - to the point that at first, I wasn't sure I even liked it. But yes, it's delicious. Even the ham is warmed through on the flat top before going in. It's all generously sauced before being pressed into a flat, hot, crusty delicious hunk of food. Just try it. If you don't like it, call me. I'll come have the other half!

But they all pale in comparison to the Sandwich Project and their El Jefe. It was a drizzly day when I came here on the recommendation of my wife. I dare say it was because of the iffy weather that they weren't all that busy - in fact on this particular day, none of the collection of excellent stalls at Kerb at Kings Cross were busy. Ordering is simple - they do two sandwiches, one was the El Jefe, the other was a club sandwich of some description with a fried egg. You pay, get a number and then wait. But don't go too far, because watching the detail and effort they put into the sandwiches is worth the price of admission alone. For example, with the El Jefe - they put the ham and pork on the flat top. I've only ever seen that done for a sandwich on shows like Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, and films like Chef - I've certainly never heard of it being done in a British restaurant or streetfood vendor. The best I've had before was someone fried the sandwich in butter, but the ham never touched the grill. Immediately I'm enthralled. Then they finish the up on a plancha! They had an actual plancha! Ok sure, it could have been a panini press in another life, I'm no expert, so I wouldn't know the difference by looking at it. But it did the job - it pressed it down into an edible size and toasted the bread. As for the sandwich? Sublime. I no longer know whether this or Liberty Cheesesteak's original cheesesteak is the best sandwich in London (that Cheesesteak has been my undisputed king for several years). It's a close tie, certainly. That is how good the El Jefe is. The London sandwich scene has a new challenger!

They're also really nice and polite. Over the course of several visits, I tried the sirloin special, the coronation chicken, the chicken escalope, and the chicken/bacon/sweet corn sandwiches. I also tried the scotch eggs. My favorite was the coronation chicken, which I'd never had before (I don't think we have it in the States), but everything I tried was tasty and I'd be happy to have all of them again. The sandwiches are pretty reasonably priced at under £6, which is nice for an area where it's easy to spend the same amount on a cup of coffee and a muffin. I've always been in and out of the shop in just a few minutes, even when it's busy. Their prime lunch traffic seems to come around 12:30 and later; it was pretty empty the 1 time I went at 12. I've always been able to pay with my American bank card without any issues. Definitely recommend this place if you need lunch in the area! They also have breakfast, although I've never tried it.
