I don't knw much about the food. We had just finished seeing Sacré-Cœur. We were beat. Time to fins a local café and relax They had a nice table right in front with a great view of the street while we watched people go about their life. After Basilica de Coeur, we stopped by here for some brunch. This area is filled with restaurants, majority of the customers being tourists. If you want a more authentic French food experience, walk a bit further to Rue de Martyrs because it's a street filled with cute shops and restaurants. The prices were a bit expensive, but then we saw how big the portions were! We ordered a croque madame and a caesar salad to share. The croque madame was EXTREMELY cheesy, a bit too much for me (and I LOVE cheese). The caesar salad was solid, you can definitely tell it's catered towards Americans. The service was a bit rude - I sensed attitude probably cause we were taking a while deciding what we wanted to order (and cause we didn't speak French) and we had to keep asking for water even though there was barley anyone in the restaurant. read more

Just got to Paris and checked into our Hotel. It's getting late so decided to stop here for Dinner. Very cute place and seems quintessential French. Had a beautiful Cheese plate and Foie Gras pâté. Very nice. Split the Lamb shank. It was good but desperately under seasoned. Salt worked wonders. It's not over priced for the area. The problem I had was the service was horrible. Horrible! Came here for lunch on our way to the Basilica. Service was good but food was not up to par. Ribeye was the toughest steak we had in Paris even though we splurged for the ribeye. The atmosphere was nice and casual. I had a great view with a decent amount of sunlight, in front of an open window. I ordered a formula, which is similar to a combination. You had the choice of an appetizer and a main dish or a main dish and a dessert. For my appetizer, I ordered the french onion soup, which was subpar. The bread pieces were large which was enjoyable , but the onions were minced and almost non existent. The serving size was large and I do believe I got a good deal. This soup by itself was 7,50 €. I also ordered the spaghetti bolognese which was akin to lunchroom spaghetti and meat sauce. Very under-seasoned and bland, even with the addition of salt and pepper. The waitress did speak English which made communicating very easy , but unfortunately , the service was extremely slow. I would save your time and money by dining else where. read more

We stumbled upon Cafe Chappe when my nieces were hungry. We're we're immediately seated and greeted but a Dsay who was warm and friendly. She quickly offered us drinks while we decided what to eat. There was a kids menu and many options for my sister and I. The wine was well priced and the pours were generous. The meal was tasty, the portions were large, and the service was excellent. read more

Café Chappe was the perfect place to grab a bite and relax after taking the train to Paris from London. My hotel was just a few blocks away and it was on the way down the hill from Sacré-Cœur. Their menu offerings and free wi-fi drew me in. The chill atmosphere, outdoor seating and just-the-right-amount-of-busy intersection sealed the deal. I grabbed a table outside (even with the threatening clouds above), ordered a carafe of red wine and a Croque Madame and got the wi-fi password. I was in a small state of bliss. The wi-fi worked, the wine was excellent and cheap and the croque madame was insanely good. It's hard to beat a ham and cheese sandwich that is cooked to perfection and topped with an egg. And the prices here are excellent. Cheap and good...that's how I like it. It started to pour, we ran inside, a waiter cleared off a high-top table and let us chill there until the rain passed. I couldn't have been more pleased with the atmosphere, service, food and quality of the wi-fi...I could even FaceTime home to the US on my iPhone while I was there. Great location but awful food. I ordered the steak and it was the toughest meat I've ever had. In fact, it was not edible for fear I would break my dental work. The chicken was also over cooked and tough. My daughter ordered pene with marinara and got rubbery mostacioli with a strange brown onion sauce. Of the five meals we ordered only two were edible - the lasagna and Caesar salad. The location however was convenient and atmosphere nice, hence this review is not a full flame one star. This was our first meal in Paris and I'm very disappointed. Lots of others in Montmartre to discover! But we're coming coming back to this place. read more

Location is nice, we ate outside to enjoy the weather and seating was comfortable. Our server was nice and very helpful; we don't know French that well and we got along fine. The food was just OK, not very flavorful. Everything was clean. We would not go back simply because there are so many other options. I got the avocado salad (way too much dressing) but not too bad and the salmon pasta which was not very good; it also only had about 1oz of shredded salmon throughout. I'm not sure if I went to the same Café Chappe as other reviewers, but I had a very pleasant and memorable experience when I ate at the café last year. Service was great and the waiters weren't constantly checking up on you, so you can just relax and enjoy the ambience of Montmartre. My friend and I ate there for brunch and we were seated right away. The outdoor seats are right on Rue Tardieu and during brunch hours the streets are not busy. We thought the food was great and portions were generous. When you order the croque madame, you also get a side salad. Both the chocolat chaud and cafe au lait were very yummy. read more

this place was disgusting. They had a great location and after a long day of sight seeing we decided to stop before ascending the hill back to our airb&b. Usually i would check yelp for reviews but it was late. pretty empty but service was still incredibly slow. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to come take our order because she was so involved talking to some coworkers and a child that seemed to be her son. whem she finally came we ordered some combination special that include appetizer and main course. My sister and i both ordered onion soup for appetizer. I ordered the butchers cut steak medium well and my sister ordered salmon tagliatelle. The onion soup came out like 15 minutes. I was shocked because it was like a pack of dried onion soup mix add water topped with stale croutons and a dash of cheese. there were no real onions in the soup just those dried minced onions you find in packaged soup. we finished the soup pretty quickly and waited another 15 minutes for our main dish. I wish i wouldve followed my 1st mind and just paid for the soup and left. When the food came out it looked ok but my steak looked kinda weird. there were real sauteed onions atop the steak the kind that were missing from our soup. But when i tried to cut the steak it was nearly impossible. This was literally the worst cut of steak ive had in my life. it was hard to get a piece off and i shouldve taken that as a warning not to proceed beacuse once i put that piece of steak in my mouth i almost gagged. it was bitter and had a rank smell to it. i immediately spit it out. my sister's salmon tagliatelle came out and she said it was bland with no flavor. The noodles were also overcooked fettuccine and not tagliatelle. Needless to say we both ate the fries from my plate and got the hell out of there. Mind you we had to go to the bar of an empty restaurant to tell the waitress we wanted our check. she didnt ask if we enjoyed our meal because im sure our faces said it all. read more

The spacing of the tables is unbeliveable, you can hardly sit in your chair. The claimed wifi does not work. The rudeness of the waiter and the barman was unbearable, I was given back the coins I paid with claiming that I could "keep my change" as if it was unclassy to pay with coins. We may have hit this place just right, but our experience was great. Came in with our family of 5 for a late 11p dinner. This after being ignored at the place diagonally across the street. The staff greeted us warmly and took our food and drink order very quickly. The meal was superb. We had the cod, duck, steak, spaghetti, and soup. Quick service! Terrific time and was just the perfect thing for us. I am rating high because the staff was on their game and it was a great experience for us. Mixed drink was a tad weak. Beer cold. I didn't have any knowledge beforehand how the food would be like so kind of caught me off guard how bad it was. The sugar crepes were awful with loads of sugar on it and the breaded chicken was just tok dry to eat. I saw our server grab ice with his bare hands and put them in our drinks. I mean come on can't you just scoop the ice with a cup? I also didn't like how our server reacted after we left him 12 percent tip even though we really weren't obligated to in France. Our duck ordered pink came after quite a long wait completely cooked through . The rest of the meal was blah. The wine was ok.
