First night in Paris and we wanted french cuisine. Did some research online and found Les Fils a Maman. It was a Friday night and opened at 7pm. This surprised us because it seemed late, but this is our first time in Paris. We explored a bit, had a drink at the bar in front, and then popped in for dinner. Love the vibe. Retro 80s theme and definitely catered to millennials. Server spoke English and was very helpful. Very kid-friendly as a families were allowed to take some of the decorative items to play with and entertain themselves. We started with a dry sausage per our server's recommendation. It was delicious. I ordered the duck and my wife had the cordon bleu as main dishes. The duck was great. My wife did not enjoy the cordon Bleu because she thought it was too salty, but we looked at everyone around us and most tables had at least one person who ordered it. It could have just been our preference because all other guests enjoyed it.
Going in knowing no French, I was a bit worried. The server turned out to know English and sat us right away. The service was great and the food speaks no specific language! We had the set menu of the day which included smoked salmon tartare, chicken breast with this spinach and cheese sauce with this mixed rice. The dessert options were a meringue or a Nutella with cream and nuts option. The smoked salmon tartare was presented in a wine glass, with everything in layers. They started with the salmon on the bottom, then slowly added the other items such as guacamole, onions and I think small diced tomatoes. There was some sort of mousse on top that was kind of strong by itself until you mixed it all together in the cup. The chicken breast was cooked beautifully, moist and tender. I enjoyed the cheesiness sauce mixture below it along with the minced spinach part of it. The mixed rice was cooked quite well too and was nice to add to the spinach cheesiness along with the chicken. They also played tons of oldie American hits, which I loved!
So we decided this was going to be the place to take the entire group out to and it was a pretty good choice. They have menus in English if you need. Tables are small and tight. You might need to squeeze yourself to get to your seat. The decor is dark and caters to 80-90s pop culture. They have a dot to dot for their placemats. We ordered bone marrow and cheese plates for apps. While the bone marrow was tasty, the cheese plate was just ok. Nothing too extreme, Brie, Camembert and a hard cheese with slices of baguette. Many at the table had the chicken cordon bleu which was pretty good stuffed with cheese and bacon. It came with soft fried and potatoes, a mushroom sauce and a small salad. My sister put salt on it but seriously, I was downing glasses of water afterwards. This place looks like a fun place to go for drinks. If i were a local, I would probably come here often. The atmosphere is fun and casual. The staff is five stars. Really awesome, friendly servers working there. Good place for food and drinks.
Great find. The service was great and our server spoke English. We had the soup of the day - butternut squash and it was excellent. Very large serving that could have been dinner if we had known. I'm we ordered fish and it did not disappoint. Not familiar with the type but servers researched and it was a type of pollock.
This place is awesome! They have English menus and speak enough English to communicate with fair ease. They were super super nice and the food was excellent. I got the bone marrow (epic) and the chicken cordon bleu (very good). I got a virgin passionfruit mojito and it was refreshing and minty! The standout service was when I couldn't finish my chicken (I had about 75 percent left because I was so full) and asked for it to go. I didn't know the French don't really do to go leftovers but our server said he'd check in the back. He came back with a plastic Tupperware from the bar and asked if that was ok. I said yes, and he washed it and let me use it. I didn't realize how atypical my request was. His effort was so appreciated. Who says the French aren't hospitable ? Service was great here! And the food was also very very good. Fair prices as well !
We came here on a whim and got lucky they had a table. This place is popular and small so reservations are recommended if you have your heart set on eating here. They do have an English menu version which helps out a lot and our server spoke English. Seating was tight but well worth the meal. We had the drink special which was a mojito framboise which was very delicious. We went with a mix of cheese and meats for a starter that was a generous portion. For our entree we had the rib eye and potatoes for two. We got our steak medium rare and it was melt in your mouth delicious. We were planning on ordering their desserts but was too stuffed from such a great meal we would've had to been rolled out of this place. They accept credit card and if you tip make sure you tell them you want a tip, like all places here, before they put in the total. They also hand you a jar of Haribo gummy candy with the check which is a nice treat. Service was excellent, food was top notch, ambiance was casual with a homely feel. Decorations reminiscent of your childhood days if you grew up in the 70s-80s as they played some throwback tunes and had magazine/ poster/ book memorabilia on the walls and shelves. Oh, the menu stated their moms actually cool in the restaurant on Tuesday nights... Which we were sad we didn't get to try this place on a Tuesday but any day is just as good!
This place is good for kids but I cannot recommend it to adults. The food was rather subpar considering the many many restaurants competing for your business in this neighbourhood. My chicken was very dry and my wife's Cobb salad also had very dry chicken to the point that it was inedible. My kids got steak frites and fish and chips and neither thought much of the meal. The bread for the table came much too late (though it was very fresh) and the service was slow and inattentive. For a North American this seems an awful lot like a mediocre chain restaurant with crazy decor. And it is a chain by the way- multiple locations in France under various names. The only reason the kids liked it was the connect the dots on the table.
Not horrible service, just no service and rude! We are a family of 3 and read the reviews so we were excited to try it out. We got there and waited for a table to become available. We were told to wait a few minutes. Twenty minutes later a party of four left and presented an opportunity for us to be seated, but we still were not seated and while waiting they sat a couple that just walked in. We asked if we could be seated at the available table but he told us to either sit at the bar or wait outside. It was a cold unfriendly experience that I was not in the mood to tolerate. I can't imagine why this place has good reviews. We went down the street to an Italian restaurant that had awesome customer service and great food.
Walked 2.5 miles in the rain from our hotel craving Cordon Bleu for dinner before leaving Paris tomorrow am. Found Les Fils a' Maman on yelp and worth every step. Our Waiter Leo was great picking the wine and recommending croquets for starters. If you to are craving Cordon Bleu find your way here !
The food is good. Not classic but a nice hipster twist on classic French. The croquettes are awesome. Must have. In my two visits I've had that and the duck confit in carrot puree (very interesting warm and hearty!) and the mega cheeseburger (sure was mega and yum) I think my favourite part is the staff. They're nice and friendly and make the effort of have a conversation. Which is always refreshing when you're in a country where you don't know anyone or the language
This is a lovely little place within the opera district. Having said that, parking is almost impossible, but anywhere in Paris is just about impossible to find parking. However, we got lucky and found a parking spot near the police precinct, approximately 2 blocks away. From previous reviews, it was suggested you make reservations or arrive early enough to get a seat, we did the latter and arrived around 8:45 and didn't have to wait. Note, if your not paying attention to the restaurant signs you might pass by it, we did once but found it on the second go around. The server's were very friendly, speaking English and providing a menu for us in English. We had deep fried cheese (Camembert) triangle. It was pretty good, since we were use to the American fried mozzarella sticks. Our main dish was the Chicken cordon bleu, served with sliced fried potatoes. We chose this restaurant in particular because of the good reviews about th le cordon bleu. We concur with the other reviews, it's pretty good! They serve it with a mushroom sauce that you can either pour or dip. It's pretty filling and we were satisfied, to this point we have had a few Parisian meals and left out still hungry. The only con I can say about this restaurant and it may apply to Paris restaurants at large is they hardly give you any ice for your drinks. I'm use to having ice in my drinks in America, but here they must not like ice in there drinks! Anyway, the meal came to 42 €, which is pretty average price in the city. I would recommend this experience.
Was recommended this place by a friend in Sweden, while at the address the place actually looked a bit freighting and hidden.. we actually had trouble finding the door. But once inside the place was totally crowded, cheering crowds of 2-8 laughing, eating, drinking and enjoying life! As we didn't had any reservation (which you should if you're thinking about going here) we got to sit in the bar.. which was quite cozy though. We had a plate of bread and different hams, cheese, sausage etc shared as starter which which was super delicious. My main course was chicken with salted potatoes and spicy mushroom sauce (yummy!). It's like a hipster twitch on French food from my feeling. A bit understaffed waiter/waitress.. so it took a while to make orders etc.. but they really tried to make up for it so still a 5-star :) Would definitely come back here next time in Paris!
Nice food in a very fun throwback atmosphere. Walking cassette tapes and photos from the 80s and 90s. Staff are very friendly and no language barriers. Great lunch specials. My food was very good. Nice casual, fun, and affordable restaurant. read more
This place hands down has the best burger in Paris. We stayed just down the street and found it by accident. It was so good my wife went back 3 times. Lol. Service was good and place had really cool 80s stuff everywhere. Make a reservation because they get busy. read more

Wife had the tuna tartare and I had the burger....both were Amazing! Friendly staff and bartender. We will definitely come back the next time we're in Paris! read more

Amazing last meal here while on vacation in Paris. The staff was very nice and able to fit us in without a reservation even though they were fully booked. We ordered the meat and cheese board which was enough for at least four people. Two kinds of meats and three cheese with bread. We also has the drink of the day which was a raspberry mojito and very good. For the meal we had their one kilogram rib eye. It also came with some au gratin potatoes and a gravy/sauce for the steak. The steak was so delicious that it didn't need anything. One of the best steaks I've ever had. This place was awesome and I would for sure come back again. They also give you yummy gummy candy when they bring the bill. Probably my favorite meal while here on vacation. read more

Visited Les Fils last night for the first time. I had a strawberry mojito, it was a delicious blend of fresh mint and berries. For my dinner I order the chicken cordon bleu. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes and wrapped in bacon. Every aspect of the dish was fantastic. For dessert I ordered this nutella-banana conglomeration that I can't exactly explain but it was great. Try it. My only complaints were that the space was pretty tight (but, Paris) and the room was maybe 15 degrees too warm. Those slight annoyances are easy to ignore once the food arrives. Plus they give you a jar of candy along with the bill (which totaled 73 euros for two cocktails, two entrees, and two desserts). Overall I would recommend this spot for anyone looking for delicious French food with a campy twist. read more

I came here on a Friday nite, while it was quite crowded (which is easy to achieve with only seating for 20-25), but I seated fairly quickly with a reservation for one. The menu is only in written in French, but I can read the basics pretty proficiently, recognizing important words for dining like "canard (duck), bouef (beef), poulet (chicken), and tartare"; so that helped loads. However, my guesswork did serve as a reminder for me to borrow a French dictionary before the next trip back. I ordered the filet mignon (which came with risotto) and a richet of rosé. For me this one of the more memorable meals of this trip. The risotto was hands down the best I've ever had. For comparison, I usually stay away from risotto stateside. Something about soggy, overcooked rice, with loads of cheese just doesn't sit right with my tastebuds. But this dish? Unworldly. I actually tried to visit a second time before I left, specifically for the gooey goodness of the risotto, but sadly they were closed (unannounced) on May Day. Be sure to make a reservation. This place is obviously popular. I'm pretty sure THE Colin Kapernick was there or either he was an eeriely exact french twin of his that also speaks fluent (read perfect) English with no apparent accent. One thing to watch for, I was charged 19€ instead of the 13€ listed on the menu for the steak and 5€ instead of 4.5€ for the richet of wine. It's quite possible that I was looking at the lunch menu instead, but just a heads up. Nonetheless, the food and the Colin K. look alike was worth the few extra euros. 4.5 stars read more

So in Paris while traveling with my fiance' and her Sister we ventured out for dinner. Sis says I have a recommendation and so we rolled with it. We ended up at Les fils a quaint little restaurant small in size but packs plenty of personality. First off this is definitely not a tourist trap, it was brimming with locals which is always a great sign. We were able to get the last table available immediately. We started off with 2 apps immediately the egg croquettes and the charcuterie board. Not really going over the board because its just a bunch of meats and cheeses we all know what thats like, you either like salamis and cheeses or you dont. The egg crocotte is like a creamy baked egg,cheese, asparagus dish that you can dip your bread into. Even though this sounds like a traditional breakfast dish I could eat this anytime of the day. Rich, creamy and alot of flavor goes perfect with fresh bread I ordered the chicken cordon bleau, which is not your traditional ccb. The traditional ham was replaced with Bacon instead. Sounds like something that would be done in the US and not France and honestly who doesn't love Bacon? Just the right amount of creamy cheese and fried to a crisp just right because the chicken was still juicy on the inside. It came with a side of scalloped potatoes and a side salad with a light mustard like vinaigrette which seams to be very popular because every where we went they serve salads with this sauce. I must say this was my favorite meal in Paris. Our host Leonard who seemed to be running the join was nice enough to let us stay and keep drinking wine even while they were closing and no other guest were there. We chatted with Leonard for a while and he even gave us a round of shots. Side note they did have some great white wine that you can get in a "pot" which is like a mini carafe. We had a great time and experience here. If you want a delicious meal away from the usual tourist traps look no further. read more

Croquettes for appetizer were incredible The beef rib and potato gratin were to die for. Cooked fresh out of the kitchen. Don't forget that in Paris medium is the equivalent of rare in the US!! The service and atmosphere was exactly what you'd want from Paris. So friendly and all around great experience ! read more

The staff were very pleasant and able to converse in English without a problem. Definitely get the hipster/low-key trendy vibe. I had the chicken cordon bleu per the other reviews and I must say it was good and filling. The seating arrangements were on the tighter side, but I can't complain because I didn't have a reservation and we were still accommodated - so just as a heads up try to plan in advance like every other restaurant in this area. read more

The environment here is fantastic- wonderful and friendly service. Feels like a neighborhood restaurant/ bar in the best sense of the thought, but with the added gloss of an eclectic yet comfortable ambiance. The food is good and the culture is highlighted with bon bond offered at the end from a jar. Wonderful place! read more

Small and cosy place with a 80's and 90's theme. Nice, professional and welcoming staff. Make sure to make a reservation to get a table. We were lucky and got the last available table. The food was great, service was excellent and we loved the personal touches on the menu. Highly recommend. read more
