Absolutely love this neighborhood cafe! The service is always really friendly and welcoming. The staff is legit like talking to your neighbors or family. They have a great variety of drinks both hot and cold. There is definitely something for everyone. The decor is so nice and chic and it is always clean and well kept. This cafe is a small nook in the area but has a big impact. They have seating both inside and outside. Oh, get a Haitian pattie...smoke herring to be exact. Very tasty.

Hey there....coming to you with a great review of this quaint and lovely coffee shop. I love when my friends recommend a spot for me to visit and this was at the top of my list. A beautiful Tuesday afternoon lead me here and Cafe LaKay with its vibrant yellow decor was like a ray of sunshine. First let me say that it's been just a little over a year since they've opened their doors to the neighborhood and I can tell that they have their stream of regular customers. The owner, Daphne (hope I spelled that right) is very delightful and so is her assistant. I ordered the Passion fruit juice as well as a Matcha Lemonade (it's not in the menu) but my friend says it's to die for. I also bought a red velvet chocolate chip cookie. Let me say this, Daphne made those drinks with love. She took her time to make them and before pouring them into the cups, she poured a little for herself to taste test. I mean...who does that? No one ! This just shows the effort and dedication to satisfying her customers. She made sure I tasted it before I left to make sure it didn't need any adjustments and it didn't. It was perfectly delicious and refreshing. The cookie was delicious as well and I'm a baker so I should know. With all that being said, it's definitely the perfect spot to stop in for a cup of coffee, tea, juice and pair it with the amazing pastries they have for the day. Eat, drink and enjoy!

Trying out a new café in the neighborhood!

Such a cute, quiet, and clean café just off the busy-ness of Flatbush Ave. During my first and only visit, I ordered a cinnamon toast chai and a spinach patty. Both were delightful, the spinach pastry so much in fact, that I ordered a second one to share with my Mom. Today, my Mom decided to buy a couple of the same patties for me, but they didn't taste as good as the first time! i was a bit disappointed at the decline in tastiness, but i may give them another try this week. My chai was wonderful, and i feel instantly more peaceful walking in. Overall, Café Lakay is a nice little gem in the neighborhood. i also love the décor!

Based on the recommendation of my chiropractor, I had lunch here earlier this week. Our server from…read moreMoldavia was friendly and attentive and suggested I try their most popular dish - the lamb lulya kebab which is ground lamb that is not overly spiced to allow one to taste the meat. It is served with rice and I found it to be a lighter than its Turkish equivalent. It was served with rice. We also ordered Turkish bread that was served warm. The dining area is comfortable and welcoming. Because this restaurant is set back from the Coney Island Avenue next to a liquor store it is easy to miss - but don't - it's excellent!

I ordered the Journey to Baku salad, the Turkish bread, and the Guru Khingal. The salad needed a pinch of salt, but there was a shaker on the table and with that addition, it was a decent refreshing appetizer. It's sort of a spread so I would recommend ordering some bread to eat with it. The bread came out steaming hot and smelling amazing. It was soft and fluffy on the inside and delicious. I took the extra home and ate it all immediately when I got there. Delicious bread. The Guru Khingal is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten in New York City. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, as I have never eaten this type of food before. The tender, handcut pasta seems to be layered with flavorful lamb fat like the most decadent possible buttered noodles and the ground lamb topping is rich and perfectly seasoned. The yogurt sauce gives the dish balance. It's a fairly large portion that could easily be shared between two. I highly recommend this spot, the glowing reviews are not exaggerating at all. I often like to try new and unusual restaurants, and sometimes I enjoy them mostly for the novelty. That was not the case at Village Cafe. My meal here was delicious and I am eager to return, even with the 75 minute commute from north Brooklyn.
