Perfect spot with a view of Arch de Triumph! Don't hesitate to choose this restaurant. I always consider if the price will be extra high because of the location. This was maybe 10% above average BUT totally worth it! I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich...do not underestimate this choice while in Paris. Lovely cheese melted on the top of a sandwich with delicious ham and cheese in the middle. It came with a side salad and fries...all for 17 Euros. Really a great lunch choice. The restaurant had a lovely selection of wine and I chose a light red with my meal. But the highlight of the lunch was the crepes. Salted caramel and Nutella!!! Shall I say more?!?! A lot of people stopped in for coffee or a refreshment, but my fiance and I wanted to try some quick bites while also relaxing after a long day of walking. We ordered four shareable dishes: avocado toast, crispy chicken, onion soup, and beet hummus. The chicken had a nice crisp. The sauce isn't came with paired nicely. The avocado toast was refreshing, generously topped. The hummus was good, making me feel healthy, but it was the least amazing out of all dishes. Breakfast menu is different for weekend brunch. Nice indoor and outdoor seating; during the winter they cover the outdoor seating to make more space to sit. After hauling myself up the Arc de Triomphewithout so much as having a morning coffee, I started to get extremely hangry so we decided to give Cafe Lateral a try. Very pleased with the food and the speed of service. The food was progressively modern French cafe and I was there for it. They have daily specials that seem to be a huge hit as all of the French people around us happened to order it. I ordered the French onion soup and the house made foie gras pate. Excellent meal and service. We walked by and saw local business people eating lunch and took it as a good sign. It was on point. The waiter was friendly and accomodating. We started with some drinks. I, a local IPA on draft which was excellent. Wifey had a spritz, also very good. For lunch the little one had the enfant menu chicken tenders with fries. Review was very good. All were eaten. We found this great place close to Champs Elysee. We needed to find a place with a large menu to satisfy some of the picky eaters in the group and cafe Lateral has quite a menu. It was an early dinner by Paris standards so we opted to sit inside. Our server was very friendly and had some great wine selections. They brought over delicious bread as well as Olives and peanuts - such a good snack!! We choose to just share a few items so we went with a couple of orders of escargot, a charcuterie board as well as a prosciutto pasta. Close to the Arc and it's open early so we stopped in fro breakfast there. It's cozy and large and the seats are comfortable, but it wasn't much of a memorable meal and it is pricier than other places. If we had to do it again, maybe we'd find a smaller cafe/coffee shop with some better breakfast specials. Ordered a cappuccino, the English breakfast and a morning croquet at that was 28 Euro - again, a bit pricey - but it was open and close to the arc before our morning visit. Right next to the Arc de Triomphe and our first stop when we got to Paris because we were so hungry. Cafés like this are everywhere and probably on the more expensive side given the location. My favorite part of the café was looking around and noticing that almost no one was on their phone. Everyone was engaged in conversation, which you'll see is common in any café. The food itself is decent but nothing spectacular I had a filet de boeuf (beef fillet) with béarnaise and homemade fries. My colleague and I came here last week to dull the edge of a tough work week, and the waiter seemed to understand this perfectly: he filled our wine glasses almost to full capacity! He also kept the olives and other happy hour snack bowls filled, despite us being tucked on the side of the restaurant, out on the terrace and out of his line of sight. We had a limited view of the Arc de Triomphe, but it was nice knowing that we were next to such a monumental landmark, without being in its direct path (read: the path with all the tourists and crowds). Well, now I can say that you can get a bad meal in Paris. This was by far the worst restaurant experience we had in Paris, and it is right up there with worst anywhere. We came to Cafe Latéral after finding out that another restaurant was closed for holidays. Things started off poorly with inattentive and slow service (which never improved). No one would come to our table, despite several wait staff and a manager coming within two tables of ours. We finally were able to order and that's when the kitchen could add it's incompetence to that of the wait staff. I ordered veal cutlet Milanese. The lack of flavor was astounding. I didn't know you could simultaneously ruin both a veal cutlet and plate of pasta. I've had better plates in a dorm cafeteria. Ended up at this restaurant based on the reviews that I read. The location cannot be beat as it's a stones throw away from L'Arc de Triomphe. Seating was a breeze even without a reservation. Granted it was only three in our party. The servers spoke to us in English and were cordial, attentive and very fast paced. Our food was well presented and tasty. It's not a loud restaurant as what you'll find in the states so it was quite pleasant to have a conversation with the person you're with and not compete with other loud patrons. We went here for dinner on a whim because it was close to our hotel and so glad we did. It was one of the best meals we've had while in Paris the past 3 days. Our waiter, Ali, was wonderfully jovial, polite and spoke excellent English which I was glad of because I asked him for a meal and wine recommendation. I went with both recommendations: the steak with bernaise, a special tonight and different from the regular cut on the menu was tender, grilled exactly as I ordered, medium rare, and the red wine, Ali's favorite "bold" red was an excellent pairing. The steak was served only with salted fingering potatoes so I paid extra for some mixed vegis, also very good. I splurged and got the creme brulee, delish. We just arrived in Paris and we were looking for something to eat near our hotel. My husband found this restaurant and had 3-4 stars on google i believe. Upon arriving, they seat us inside where fruit flies were surrounding us. Another strike was when I ordered a coke and he did not bring a glass of ice. I saw other customers having coke with their glass of ice and a slice of lemon. The fruit flies were bothering us so much that we asked to be moved to the patio portion.
