We enjoyed a great family meal with escargots to start, a perfectly cooked leg of lamb with outstanding homemade mashed potatoes and a fresh, crisp salad, a classic Croque Monsieur, and the Louise Cheeseburger, which our child loved. Sadly, it was our least favourite meal during our 10-day stay in Paris last month. We had wanted to go to a restaurant in 4e but we found out it was closed on Monday when we walked up to the restaurant so we quickly did a Google search and settled on this restaurant based on the reviews. I had foie gras for entrée, beef tartare and my husband and I shared a tarte tartin for dessert. The foie gras was OK but did not have much flavour to it. The condiments did not seem to go with it. The beef tartare was just off. It did not taste right and neither was the texture. I like beef tartare and what was served did not feel right. It felt like a lump of overly ground up beef from a food processor. The sides did not go with the dish either. I think the biggest disappointment was the tarte tatin. Lovely place and lovely people! Was greeted super enthusiastically. (I'm assuming she's the owner) Speaks English very well and very fun to talk to! She has a great energy and it makes sense why this place is rated so high. Very attentive. We got the escargot and foie gras for appetizers and the burger dish, the ratatouille, the beef tartare and the duck dish. My favorite was the duck dish, it was perfectly cooked and seasoned nicely. This spot is super close to the Louvre, and the owner is super friendly. It's one of the better places I've had in France, I believe they're known for their ratatouille. I don't think I've ever had ratatouille so I don't have much to compare to but it was okay. The beef tartar was one of the better tartars I've had, with a little bit of spicy flavor. The escargot was super flavorful and tasty. I got the burger, which was solid, however the bun did come pretty burnt. She did ask if I wanted it replaced, but I was already pretty much done with it so I said it was okay. Overall really solid food and great service! read more

Only five (walking) minutes away from the Louve. The best ratatouille. Definitely also get the steak tartare, it comes with a side of their incredible ratatouille and mashed potatoes made with French cream and French butter. Even the bread is delicious! Nothing but gratitude for this place. I was only in Paris for 1 day this summer. It was my first time in the city in 15 years but I needed to dash through on a day trip. I needed to find a lunch spot next to the Louvre but was worried I would have to settle for a tourist trap. I was in Paris for two nights in April and was in the area so decided to try this place as it had 4 stars on Yelp . I started my order with the ravioli soup. When it arrived (service was slow and there was a slight attitude) the soup was so overwhelmingly salty. I asked for bread and got what I felt was stale (and cold) bread. At that moment I wanted to walk away and try another spot. After all, if you can't get salt right in a basic broth based soup with ravioli, it's hard to expect better results from the rest of the menu. I sent it back and the main server of the restaurant came to me to tell me she had tried the soup and it was indeed too salty. Hmm... I ended up staying and ordered the lobster salad as I wasn't feeling too well and it would take too much time to get started in a new spot. While the salad was generous with lobster, the salad greens were not fresh. So after this experience / paying 26 Euros for a salad that wasn't fresh I waited a few a days before writing this review. The day after this experience I dined at Hotel de Crillon and had the most phenomenal meal - of course the price point was well worth it on every level. We stumbled on Cafe Louise while toodling on the Louvre grounds and beautiful Tuileries Gardens. Having had poor experiences with corner cafes by tourist spots, I yelped! Local cafes. Louise's Cafe was the only one I found with over 4 stars. (Most barely had two or three.) its an easy walk from the Louvre, and well worth it. I had the linguini with tomato and basil sauce. Super fresh and flavorful--I asked for more bread to sop up the remaining sauce. My husband had the chicken club sandwich with salad. They told us a 15 minute wait, but we didn't wait that long. My husband said "...probably the best club sandwich I've ever had..." and he didn't eat his salad--but I did and it was delicious with the green beans and mustard vinaigrette. Oh, he ate half my pasta as well! we made sure to introduce ourselves to Louise, who was the lovely lady that greeted us upon arrival. We thanked her for the amazing meal, and she informed us her daughter makes the desserts. We may have to go back and try some --they looked amazing from other people's posts! It took a lot of griping to get my (very cheap) dad to agree to come to this place instead of some cheap, mediocre restaurant, but finally he caved. We were in France after all, so we have to try authentic French cuisine. I picked this place of all places because it had amazing reviews on both Yelp and TripAdvisor. Needless to say, it had met and beyond exceeded my expectations! Seriously! We arrived and the restaurant seemed pretty empty. However, when we spoke to Louise (yes, the one the Cafe is named after), she explained that the empty tables had been reserved and that normally you'd have to make a reservation at the restaurant. However one of the tables was just about wrapping up and she could seat us in about 15 minutes, which was extremely reasonable. When we sat down, it was great to have her serve us personally. Not only because she was the sweetest lady ever, but also because she spoke English quite well and wasn't put off by the fact that we didn't know a lick of French. She explained the menu to us and gave us her recommendations. The food came out pretty quickly and we dove in (after snapping a few pictures). Oh my goodness, it was delicious! I had the foie gras (for the first time in my life, since it was banned in California at the time) and the way it melted in my mouth will have me craving this dish for years to come. For dessert, Louise recommended the chocolat et son cœur coulant, which was her daughter's own recipe. Oh my goodnessss, it was amazing! All in all, I had a lovely experience. The portions are smaller, only compared if you're traveling from the U.S. but the taste and quality was great. I would compare this place to family style cooking. So our last night in Paris we wanted to finally splurge and have a good meal to end our stay here. (We were college students traveling together so we don't have lots of money to blow). We had actually tried to make reservations at a fancy duck place but it didn't work out so we came here since it was close by our air bnb and had decent yelp reviews. We don't speak any French really but they were very accommodating and were very friendly. The beef stroganoff was our favorite and is to die for. Creamy mashed potatoes, beef that just falls apart. We stayed for two hours, just eating and chatting. This place became one of our favorite memories in Europe. Homey, romantic environment with great food for a good price. Finishing up our sight seeing at the Lourve we needed to eat something and get moving to meet a friend for our night cruise on the Seine. Cafe Louise was close and a quick peek at the menu revealed beef bourguignon which is a favorite of mine so we settled in. The service was fast, friendly, and English-speaking friendly as well. While reviewing the menu Louise herself came to greet us and explain a few things. I got what I came for (the beef) and my wife got the duck confit. Both meals were great, though the beef was served over noodles instead of with potatoes, it was still delicious. If it wasn't for the time restraint we would have happily stayed for coffee and dessert as well. This is one of the places we have put on our "visit again" lists for Paris. By far the best meal we had in Paris! A lot of the restaurants we were trying were somewhat of a let down. Not this place. This restaurant made up for every mediocre meal we had. We had the ratatouille, the ravioli soup, the lamb, and the foie gras. Every thing was so mouth watering good and we ate every bite of every dish; we practically licked the plates clean haha. The lamb was so soft that I tried cutting the first bite with a knife and my knife seriously just fell right through the meat. You didn't even need a knife to cut it! The ravioli soup was something I've never tried before. The broth reminded me of chicken noodle soup, but with some added herbs/seasoning. The raviolis were mini sized and were so soft the burst open and melt in your mouth. For dessert, we had on the softest apple pies and a panna cotta that was served with a raspberry sauce that was perfectly tarty. Incredible service to top it all off! read more

Hands down for their Ratatouille! So flavorful and so healthy, perfect for the Nov chilly weather. I also highly recommend their seasonal chestnut soup with pork, great flavor -- perfectly sweetened (by the chestnut itself of course! ) and salted. The chestnuts were very soft and the soup completely brought out the natural sweetness of the chestnuts. Ratatouille is € 12.5 and the soup is also €12.5. My best friend and I were traveling from Arizona, and on our last day in Paris, we stumbled across Louise after exploring the Louvre. Lillie, the daughter of Louise, greeted us with a bright smile. We ordered the ratatouille- incredible!!! We asked Lillie for a surprise dish and I actually started crying tears of happiness after the first bite. TRY THE MINI RAVIOLI. This is way overdue and we were just reminiscing and remembered about Cafe Louise. Just before Covid hit, we were there Jan 2020. After visiting the Louvre, we wandered around looking for decent authentic French cuisine and ended up at Louise. The place was quaint and the owner, Louise, came to greet us. She was very friendly, patient, and helpful with explaining her dishes. But what really made this place special were food! They were all delicious and very flavorful, and made our night a delightful experience. Our party of 11 people, including kids, commented how great it was. Happened upon this place while wandering the streets of Paris. The employees are nice, the desserts are homemade, and the atmosphere is cute. The food is decent. The traditional beef with pasta was a bit lacking in the beef department. The leg of lamb was huge and quite tender. The coq au vin was good. However, my complaint is that the food came out way too quickly - within 10 minutes of ordering. This shows that the food is not prepared fresh, but rather is reheated. Best. Meal. Ever. If you like authentic French cuisine, go here. Did a tour of the Louvre and needed a place in strolling distance for dinner that wasn't going to be a tourist trap. The cafe is set up so that there's the typical outdoor (read: people watching) bistro tables, seating in a solarium, and a welcoming interior. We opted for sitting inside and were quickly greeted by a waiter who took our drink order and told us about an escargot special. We ordered a carafe of Sancerre (delicious) and noticed two women seated next to us. They apparently had been there the previous day and came back to have a final drink and to say farewell to Louise. This spoke volumes to me that tourists came back just to say goodbye and have a farewell cocktail. My husband and I ordered escargot to start and I ordered beef tartare for my entree. He had the nicoise salad. The escargot was divine... served with thin slices of baguette for dipping. We ordered a glass of Bordeux they recommended for the next course (equally delicious). The beef tartare was the best I've ever consumed in my life. I was in heaven. The hub LOVED his salad. Granted it's hard to mess up a salad, but he was impressed by all the subtle flavors in it. After our entrees we told Louise how much we enjoyed the food and then she pointed to a picture of her children on the wall. One of them is her daughter who's now in her thirties and makes the dessert for the restaurant. So of course after hearing this we had to order a dessert. We ended up ordering a profiterol . During my five days in Paris earlier this month in November, this happened to be one of my favorite restaurants that my friends and I dined at. Now before I continue, note: I am a traveling college student on a limited budget, who came to Paris with the decision of eating homemade breakfasts and sandwiches for lunch in order to spend a pretty penny on dinner. This means I haven't had the most breadth of opportunities to explore Paris' best when it comes to cuisine, but among what I did manage to experience, Café Louise stood out as a favorite. On our search for "authentic French cuisine" nearby the Louvre Museum, TripAdvisor recommended this place as a great spot. The plates I personally sampled: foie gras with toast and jams, a pulled duck confit with mashed potatoes dish, and ratatouille. One plate that ended up on my table (which I didn't try): steak tartare. We ordered wine, but as I am far from being a wine connoisseur, I ordered a random white wine and basically enjoyed it without much thought. Each glass of wine, as I recall, is about 5,50 EU so it's not a ludicrous price. Or... it might just have been that I ordered cheap wine without knowing what the hell I was doing. FOIE GRAS: First and foremost, this is meant to be an appetizer. If you thought, "Duh," after reading that sentence, then you're smarter than me because I made the grave error of thinking it would suffice as a main course (in retrospect, who thinks eating three, dense discs of cold duck liver would be a good idea?) and ordered solely that. The amount of regret I still feel is unexplainable... Nevertheless, this is an extremely rich plate and one or two toasts with pats of the pâté paired with some jam - one was sweet, another was more savory with onion flavors - should serve as a wonderful, totally French intro to the main entrées. I repeat: Don't eat as your main course. DUCK CONFIT: By far my favorite dish that I sampled. Served piping hot with chunks of tender, flavorful duck underneath a layer of creamy smashed potatoes, this is the sort of rich dish you want to eat after traipsing around all day in the Parisian cold. It's incredibly filling, but sharing might not be an option considering how delicious it was. RATATOUILLE: Another favorite, and a fantastic choice for vegetarians if they exist in Paris (if not, don't blame you because the duck is something). The diverse medley of fresh vegetables cooked to perfection with their overall slightly firm textures made the meal feel sufficient for even the hungriest of a man. STEAK TARTARE: Looks as raw as steak tartare can go, but according to my friend is rather picky about his food, he enjoyed it. I'm sorry I can't say more on this. DESSERT: Haven't personally tried any (I was torn between having dessert and making more time for the Louvre) but according to many, it's pretty darn great here.
