The servers here are very enthusiastic and friendly and will help you on your wine journey of finding what you like! Every wine is labeled with the country of origin, the grape type, and flavors you can expect. This made it super easy to compare and contrast the different wines and taste what makes each wine unique. My favorite wines are dessert wines, and they had an amazing port and sherry. Everything they have here, you can buy a bottle of, and I loved the port so much I bought one to take home. While you're probably coming here for wine, the food is also pretty good. They have classic European wine snacks like charcuterie boards and tinned fish. My favorite however, was probably the burrata. Burrata is already one of my favorite cheeses, but the juicy tomatoes, fresh basil, and peppery olive oil raised it to another level. That…read moresaid, one interaction with a bartender last Friday (a young white woman with black hair and tats) made me feel like I was being treated as a nuisance rather than a repeat, paying patron. I understand that it's a business and that customers are expected to buy something. What I don't understand is management apparently thinking the appropriate way to encourage a repeat customer to order is to make them feel like a loafer and a tramp after they've been sitting there reading for all of seven minutes. Hell, I do security for a high end hotel, and we're trained to treat actual loiterers with more restraint and respect. And mind you, we're not tipped. Rather than arguing with stupid, I told her I was leaving and she dropped some snarky comment as I turned to leave that's so lame I won't bother to repeat it. That was her first interaction with me that day and she's helped me before. And that brings me to a bigger issue with Hopvine: none of the staff there care to interact pleasantly with anyone. It's always curt, rushed, blunt and sometimes - if you're lucky! - a thin veneer of decency. It makes 18% feel like highway robbery. I'm not here expecting five star luxury service for lukewarm beer that costs $8 a pop. What I do want, however, is just some basic human decency. No need to be obsequious, just...don't escalate with some random patron? In Cap alone I can think of three other places where the staff recognizes me, gives me a little time to decide what I want, and most importantly: understands that I'm just taking my time, not loitering. Considering they already had to pass around the tithing dish to the tune of 50k, management really needs to reconsider finding tactful employees who recognize repeat customers and save their bite for situations that warrant it. Once we did, we were told to wait a few more moments because another group had to be checked on before we could get our orders taken. Surprisingly we were still in good spirits. We ordered our drinks, as well as our food so we could be set. Then afterwards our drinks came. This is where my experience spiraled down. I picked up my wine glass filled with this Bordeaux wine that I was excited to try. Pressed the rim against my lip and took my sip. It hit me like a hot flash. The temperature of this wine was warmer than warm. It also wasn't just my wine but my partners's as well. So we managed to get a servers attention, voiced our concern and asked if we could order a different drink. I decided to go with a cocktail and my partner decided to order the Chardonnay. When they dropped off our new drinks, they happened to be the wrong drinks. What had happened was they were a different tables drinks and when we flagged the same server down. they already seemed annoyed that we were gonna address a discrepancy. We eventually got the right drinks then our food. At that point we just wanted to drink our drinks and finish our food. I enjoyed the food flavor wise, but I wasn't satisfied with the amount of food for the price I paid. If it was one of the better things I ate in my life I would be happy with paying however much for the amount of food I got. Sadly that wasn't the case. White wine was chilled so it was good and I liked the Chardonnay. The old fashion wasn't akin to a typical old fashion. It was more like a boulevardier, not as whiskey forward, but more alcoholic. Not my favorite old fashion All in all this review was geared towards service, and quality of the drinks. Especially if you're supposed to be known for the variety of wines you serve. I would hope you can serve them at a decent temperature. Based off this experience alone, I wouldn't personally suggest them if someone was looking for a recommendation.

This is one of many newer businesses along the stretch of Stone Way N from Seattle's Wallingford to Fremont neighborhoods. This is a nice, intimate spot with welcoming staff. There are both table and counter seating on the main floor, additional seating on the upper floor. Pleasant, cozy ambiance with wall art, merch, and low light. Quite a large variety of wine bottles to imbibe onsite or peruse for purchase and takeout. Judging from my TGTG pickups, they have a great baked goods source/purveyor whether from onsite or obtained elsewhere. I've been able to enjoy quality baguettes, artisan loaves, sweet and savory baked goods. This is indicative that onsite menu items are high quality to accompany any apps/small plates/charcuterie plates and glasses of wine. Chris helped us curate the perfect wines for the evening, Mandy gave us multiple options for food and create the opportunity for us to brainstorm on a few extra fun appetizers. The evening was a huge success overall and left an incredible impression on our guests.
