I'm a regular for the past 3 years, sometimes I come and the really nice waitress is there who is so knowledgeable about French wine, cider and champagne. Last time the owner himself was there talking to us and he was amazing. But sometimes I come in and there is different staff that is so mean. This time I drove all the way from Queen Anne, and the lady looked at us (we are younger) and rolled her eyes and put us in the worst seat imaginable and asked if we had reservations. I don't look forward to leaving negative reviews but I felt strongly about this experience that it would be a disservice if I didn't address it. *Spoiler alert: long story/rant ahead. When I went for my first time. It was on a hot day this past June. Me and my partner thought we'd go and treat ourselves to a nice outing. Since I've always wanted to try this place due to hearing a bunch of good things from some colleagues. We set our eyes on a late lunch/ early dinner at Bottle House. Came in optimistic especially after being seated right away in their outdoor patio section. We were off to a great start, until it turned into a lot of waiting. We gave the benefit of the doubt assuming they were just busy. It wasn't until we saw a few groups that got seated after us get their order taken before us that we decided to flag someone down. Once we did, we were told to wait a few more moments because another group had to be checked on before we could get our orders taken. Surprisingly we were still in good spirits. We ordered our drinks, as well as our food so we could be set. Then afterwards our drinks came. This is where my experience spiraled down. I picked up my wine glass filled with this Bordeaux wine that I was excited to try. Pressed the rim against my lip and took my sip. It hit me like a hot flash. The temperature of this wine was warmer than warm. It also wasn't just my wine but my partners's as well. So we managed to get a servers attention, voiced our concern and asked if we could order a different drink. I decided to go with a cocktail and my partner decided to order the Chardonnay. When they dropped off our new drinks, they happened to be the wrong drinks. What had happened was they were a different tables drinks and when we flagged the same server down. they already seemed annoyed that we were gonna address a discrepancy. We eventually got the right drinks then our food. At that point we just wanted to drink our drinks and finish our food. I enjoyed the food flavor wise, but I wasn't satisfied with the amount of food for the price I paid. If it was one of the better things I ate in my life I would be happy with paying however much for the amount of food I got. Sadly that wasn't the case. White wine was chilled so it was good and I liked the Chardonnay. The old fashion wasn't akin to a typical old fashion. It was more like a boulevardier, not as whiskey forward, but more alcoholic. Not my favorite old fashion All in all this review was geared towards service, and quality of the drinks. Especially if you're supposed to be known for the variety of wines you serve. I would hope you can serve them at a decent temperature. Based off this experience alone, I wouldn't personally suggest them if someone was looking for a recommendation. read more

Excellent, PNW vibes wine bar in the Madrona neighborhood. Far away and fairly inaccessible from the city, this evokes a charm of a nice, relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of Seattle. We made reservations at 3pm but it is not really needed as we were mostly the only ones there during our stay. We took advantage of the happy hour where we got the charcuterie and cheese boards ($16 each) and some wines such as the Ovum Big Salt Orange and Can Sumoi Xarello white and mulled wine cocktail. The charcuterie board and cheese boards were okay priced, a bit small but the quality is very high. You don't really get most of these meats and cheeses in a typical charcuterie arrangement so it is more a culinary journey paired with excellent wines. The orange wine had a bit of natural saltiness and the white wine smelled like Welch's grape juice but has a strong finish. The wines we got definitely stood out and well worth the price tag (during happy hour, the wine glasses are $2 off!). Service is decent - you just need to flag down a server to full requests quickly. I would recommend this place as an above average wine bar with a nice food and wine selection. read more

This was my second time here in awhile and I left feeling unsatisfied. Unfortunately as a wine bar, they didn't meet my personal wine bar expectations. Service: got seated pretty quickly outside on their patio, but it took a long time for someone to come and even acknowledge us. I saw staff passing by and not even looking at us to acknowledge or let us know they'd be over. So we had to flag someone down to take our order and they said they had to check on another party and they'd be back. So lots of waiting Wine: as a wine bar, I'd expect good wine and wine served well. My partner and I both ordered a glass of red wine and both of our wines came out hot. Like temperature hot. Like above room temp, temp. It was... Not good. Sent it back because red wine should not be warmed (even on a warm Seattle day). Ordered white wine instead and it came out chilled and tasted much better. So if you're going to order wine, order a chilled one. Food: food was pretty tasty, pea toast was the most memorable. Overpriced, but at least it tasted good. Overall, I don't think I'll be back. If I'm going to spend close to $100 on a date night, I'm going to prefer a solid experience. read more

Went back this December for another oyster and bubbles pop up event after getting an email that they were hosting another event like the one we went to in the fall of 2024. We didn't experience any of the hiccups we experienced last year and very much enjoyed the wine and food and ambience. They offered tastes of five different sparkling from France, Spain, Italy and Germany. The flavors and degree of bubbles varied and were all very enjoyable in different ways. The woman at the tasting station was great--she provided short but informative tales of each of the wines (a little about the grapes, the vineyard, fun facts about the wineries, etc). We bought three different bottles of some of the wines we tasted which were reasonably priced ($28-$40 per bottle). My husband loved the oysters and ordered an additional 6 of the wildcats. I had the mushroom toast which had great meaty and earthy flavor. I also tried the spruce tip ice cream which was pine-y and unique and very creative (covered in quinoa crispies!). Super charming wine bar located in the heart of Madrona in a very cute old house. The seating options are diverse - outside on the patio, back garden, indoor area, bar, or perch yourself on the front porch to watch the world go by. They have such a beautiful space with a comfy homey feel, and a thoughtful, well-curated wine list. It was so much fun sitting out in their little garden patio with a glass of sparkling rosé, which was delicious. I also tried their orange wines and a glass of their frosé. Service here was great! Megan was extremely helpful and lovely. She attended to the entire patio and garden with ease, suggesting different wines everyone would like based on their personal tastes, and made the whole experience feel special. Loved the seasonal burrata, and the house mac 'n' cheese is ultimate comfort food. I highly recommend this place - ask for Megan! This was my second time going to Bottlehouse, and I am leaving with mixed feelings. My first visit was incredible and my second was disappointing. Pros: Amazing wine selection. My best friend is a sommelier on the east coast and I can find 80% of his wine recommendations at Bottlehouse. Their Rezabal Txakoli and Guancia Bianca were delightful and I would have tried their orange wine if I had another pour in me. Cons: The happy hour food seems tempting but you can't get by on just one selection. The biggest reason being they give you 3 crackers to eat the entire cheese board with or omit them on the charcuterie. You end up buying all of the appetizers to make one board. Additionally, you have to be very agressive to get any type of service attention. We sat for over 15 minutes until our order was taken, and 30 until we got our first drink. All in all, I would love to try it again with a spot on the patio and a nice waiter with reasonable expectations for the carbs. read more

Either way, I love being able to eat outside. The food menu isn't large and there is a variety of either small bites or entrees. If you get an entree the portion is a good size that you won't over eat. If you get a shareable item they are a tad small and you likely need more than one to be considered full. This was one the cutest most quaint places I've ever been to and it fit my vibe perfectly. I'm from CA but was visiting WA so me and my boyfriend decided to give it a shot and I'm SO glad we did. It's an old house that has been converted into a wine bar and they sell natural wine primarily. They also sell small plates of food. We ended up going with the Mac and Cheese and baguette with honey and they were both so delicious. Our waiter was super knowledgeable and checked on us often. If you're in the area I would highly recommend this place. Even if you don't like wine, you should stop for tapas and good vibes. read more

Went on business. Nestled in the neighborhood, this house-based venue has lots of ambience for indoor and outdoor seating. Order the charcuterie and the cheeseboard. Tried my first red from Lebanon and loved it. They have delicious dessert truffles and there's no reason not to try each of the flavors. Their pickled eggs turned out to be a wonderful surprise. One of my very favorite spots in Seattle. Everything is top notch from the food, drinks, ambiance and service. Sitting outside on the cute little patio is the best but indoors inside the literal bottle "house" is also a great. This time when I went I ordered off the dessert menu to compliment my wine. We were ignored. I understand she was busy but this is the service industry and a bit of communication would have went a long way. When she finally stopped by, we ordered 2 glasses of sparkling, a beer, and a meat and cheese board. Well, we got our drinks but never got the cheese and meat board. At this point, 30 minutes had passed and we saw that tables who ordered after us, were served their food. So we flagged her down and politely asked to cash out & to just disregard the cheese and meat board. She told us the kitchen is busy but she'd check and will bring it out shortly. Reluctantly, we agreed and waited a bit longer... only for her to come back and tell us she'd go ahead and cancel the order. Now I don't know if the server just forgot to put our order in or if she gave our order to the wrong table. Even if the kitchen was slammed.. how long does it take to assemble a cheese and meat board? Attended a rehearsal dinner party last night in Bottlehouse's intimate backyard setting. What a great atmosphere. The backyard was surrounded by all kinds of draping perennials. Tables with umbrellas, all kinds of seating made our party very comfortable. Now for the service. It was outstanding. Each wait staff made us feel very cared for. They were prompt with the libations and foods. We asked for hand sanitizer and within minutes were given plenty. The wine and other sinks were deliciously cold! The food was served buffet style and was very good. Salmon spread with toast points, stuffed mushrooms, charcuterie! Yum! Just the right amount of food which also looked really delightful. This review is for a private event but I imagine my experience speaks to the place overall. We had a small celebration gathering with about 20 of us and had the back garden patio space to ourselves. The location overall is so cute (clearly was someone's home at one point). Awesome spot and private and our server was the sweetest and attentive. The appetizers we had for our group were lovely. The vegetable crudite had assorted cooked and raw veggies which was nice. The baguette board was nice because it was more than just good bread. It had honey, fancy salts, chèvre, butter etc. The cheese and charcuterie board was great with many options. We also enjoyed the caprese skewers. Nothing amazing but still good because you can't go wrong with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. The baked salmon and burrata toasts were also awesome. Definitely these were my favorite of all of our foods. Drinks were various wines, beers, and house sodas that guest could choose from. Overall I find it incredibly hard to find a nice outdoor patio space to host a private event and have appetizers type options etc rather than a plated dinner. They do not take reservations so if you're set on eating here - definitely be prepared to wait or get there right on time!
