We have been taking our senior dog for regular grooming with My Dogs Spot for over a year. Services were fine until they missed trimming one nail which grew into a circle and was digging into her paw. We took her in to have the one nail clipped. The owner of the service handled the small task. She was so rough and continued to tug and swear at our dog. The other groomers have been fine. This event soured our relationship with My Dogs Spot. Never taking my dog here again. My one year old Pomeranian and I took him for a bath and trim and he came back with a bath and a brush and then I was charged $80 for a haircut that never happened. Make sure you get your services in writing before dropping your animal. My dog His ears are still overdrawn and never saw scissors. He still had knots in his behind hair, I asked for his anus if they could clear some of the hair to make it easier for when he goes number two, so it doesn't get caught in his hair and that didn't happen! And on top of that, he had a gnat behind his ear , the groomer was some tall, older lady with red hair , I can't remember her name? She was the one who groomed him, said she could work the knot out and he comes back with half a bald spot! I told her I wanted him to be shaped , a rounded even cut and make him look like a Pomeranian, and make all the hairs even, she didn't even touch my dog! Please look around and find other groomers, this place isn't what it used to be. I used to take my dogs here and I can't remember the groomers name who I used to bring them to but that was back in 2011 2012 and she's gone! And this place downhill from then. I don't know how this place is still open but I would think twice about taking your dogs here. From what I'm seeing , is, they're very rough with your animals. And it's really concerning? What did they do to my dog while he was in their care? What did they do to him that I didn't see? Obviously, nothing is he looks like shit! This is really long.... I want to start this off with, i was going to chalk this up as a giant learning lesson and letting it go. But as the days go on, i just wouldn't be able to stand myself if this happened to anyone else. I took my 2 Great Pyrenees to a local groomer on Friday 3/31. I have been going to her for a few years. She even noticed something was going on with my husky weeks before she passed, that the vet overlooked. So i felt i had a relationship with this business. I haven't been to her for a service in a little over a year due to just in general life busyness and doing at home care. I wanted to get them in for a deep shedding and some sanitary trimming. I dropped them off around 1pm, they told me it would take till 5/6. The last time i went, i paid $100 for my GP and $85 for my husky to do a deep shedding back then. So i ASSUMED that it would be around $100-120 each for both due to that being the pervious price range - as NO pricing was discussed or displayed at this time of drop off. No pricing was listed on their IG/FB page and no business website either. Which I should have taken as a sign. So i get a mid service call saying my younger GP( a yr old and has never seen a groomer), saying her "puppy fur" was never deshedded correctly and it's matted at her skin. I brushed her weekly and never noticed this but, she's the pro so i listened. She told me the dog needed to be fully shaved to start over. She needed permission to do this. I was in totally shocked. I asked if there will be any long term issues with her fur growing back and she said, there shouldn't be but they couldn't say yes or no. I trusted her and said, if you think that's the only best option, i trust you. Minutes later, i pop onto Google and see that, that's the worst thing you can do for a double coated dog. So i start to panic, call her vet and who was modified that the groomer would even suggest this and she's never heard of this happening before. I immediately get off the phone, call them back around 20 min later and it was too late, they were almost done. I go to pick them up a short time later. I arrived with my kids, go in, the groomer states there was literally nothing she could do to prevent this from happening. I told her what i read and what the vet told me and she brushed it off as if she didnt hear me and walked away. So I'm standing at the counter, kids yelling from the back of the car to bring the dogs out, the employee says, should i wait to bring the dogs out until she pays? Which at the moment kinda sounded weird but i didn't think too much of it. I hand her my card and she says $450. In complete shock, my dogs come running out, i see my shaved dog, kids are still yelling and there was so much going on, i was just flustered in shock. I sign the slip which was my BIGGEST mistake and walked out. On the drive home i realized what just happened, i called to talk to the owner and tell her how i felt like i was just taken advantage of but they were gone for the day, so i left a voicemail. I get a call the next morning from the owner. I tell her my side, how I've paid Xxxx for previous appts with her, i assumed it was the same since there was no talk of pricing or any posted( AGAIN GIANT MISTAKE ON MY PART), how I'd appreciate it if she would refund a percentage to show she hears the issues from a loyal customer and understands the whole situation. She tells me this whole story of inflation, which I agree and tell her i don't want a full refund, just something closer to what i was paying before. I even mentioned "Even $50, $75, $100 refund to just show you did not tell me a price and there was a huge malfunction within this service". She then tells me she can't and she wishes there was something else she could do that's not money. I asked what her suggestion was as I'm open to getting this fixed. She says " i dont know, maybe I'll search on Facebook on what to do if someone doesn't like your grooming service. " I said, so then should I stop my transaction and take this up with my bank? She replies with, "I'll then sue you for 3x the amount plus wages lost." At that moment, i knew she was someone who has done this before to other customers and there was no reasoning with her. I ended it shortly after that and wished her luck. As that day ended, the back of my dogs ears became swollen as she saved so close to the skin, it's now as of today, infected. She has bruising on her nipples which wasn't there before and all these random sore spots. Yes, i should have had pricing before hand, i shouldn't have let them shave her and most of all, never let her swipe my card/sign it. Giant learning lesson 100%% I'm just hope this never happens to anyone else that goes to her. I know have to take her to the vet to be checked over with her sores all over her body. First of all my mother doesn't speak well English and the worker informed her she would "do her best" to bath and groom him. I'm not sure if they offer bathing? My dog has been groomed by both Nicole and Samantha here. I love both of them and encourage you to check them out for your dog. I have a labradoodle with skin issues and allergies who needs regular grooming. You can just tell that Nicole and Samantha are both dog lovers. They are gentle and kind. Both do a great job and I've never had any complaints. Oskar comes back smelling sweet, until he rolls in goose poop again.... dogs... I like to bring a picture of Oskar groomed the way I like him with his wide mohawk and they do a great job of matching. They keep records so it's easy to ask for a repeat of the previous service. I have a shih tzu and both my husband and I are not 'show dog people". We like to keep his hair "longerish" but nothing like you see on TV at the dog shows... oh heavens! So when it is time to go to the groomers Wicket (our little guy) has a few mats (and I do brush and bath him weekly myself... I think I had to throw that in b/c I was feeling guilty! HAHA) Every time we go to a groomer the same thing happens... we tell them we understand he has mats and know that you will probably have to cut his hair (AKA shave) him shorter than we like. We ask them to please keep his face round and not cut it in towards his jowls so he ends up looking like that flying dog Falcor from the Neverending Story. But... when we pick him up, he looks 10 pounds lighter and I want to hop on his little back and fly away with my fist in the air so the " the nothing" won't get me. My husband is way more critical than I am when it comes to the groomer too but would never say anything. So... this time began the same as the others. Always off to a good start. The place is SUPER cute. I would love to stay there for a day. It is clean and very inviting. A few hours go by and I get a call from my husband... he is almost yelling at me (IN A GOOD WAY). We knew Wicket had some bad mats going into this visit so we were not expecting anything short of a buzz cut. The call I received was an overwhelming RAVE review of how amazing our dog looked. The groomer took the time to brush out his mats, trim his hair, and trim is face exactly the way we ask. I got off the phone with him and called the groomer myself and thanked them as they must have done an outstanding job as my husband just called and literally yelled at me about how amazing MY DOG SPOT is!!!! When I got home I was a bit surprised as this was the best grooming job our dog has ever received. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend My Dog Spot. Our two pugs both got baths which included shampoo, conditioner, blow dry, brush out, nail trimming & filing, ear cleaning and anal gland expression. I waited a day to write this review as I wanted to ensure it was written not "in the heat of the moment" but with a clear heart/mind. We took our 6 month old puppy in for his first grooming at My Dog Spot and had a pretty horrible first experience. At drop off everything seemed fine. Staff was friendly and informed me that it typically takes around 2 hours but since this was my puppy's first time at the groomers it could take up to 3 hours. Once they were done they'd give me a call to come pick him up. Sounds great. Two hours pass, three hours pass, no call. When it was going on four hours since I dropped him off I gave them a call, no answer. Call again and they pick up only to inform me that my puppy has not yet been trimmed as they were running behind and to expect at least another hour! The woman whom I believe is the owner didn't seem the least bit apologetic but told me not to worry my puppy was just sleeping. I dropped my puppy off at 12:30pm and he wasn't ready for pick up until almost 6:30pm! I can understand getting behind but have the professionalism to call your customers so they're aware. At pick-up the groomer apologized for the "delay" while the owner simply asked for payment. The groomer also informs me that my pup might shake his head or scratch his ears a bit since they cleaned them. I would have never written this review if things had ended there but things got much worse. Once home my poor puppy drank two whole bowls of water WITHIN minutes!!! Leading me to believe that they did not offer him water the entire time he was in their care. He has never drank that much at one time, even after a run or walk. I felt so bad for him! My puppy then proceeded to shake his head as the groomer mentioned for the rest of the evening. Shaking led to scratching, scratching led to yelping in pain. By the next day it was pretty clear the pup had an ear infection. As you can imagine after a $300 vet bill I'm beyond upset. To be fair, I have since learned that ear infections are common in long eared dogs. However, my vet said typically groomers put an antibacterial cream in the dogs ear to prevent bacterial infections. I don't know if the groomer did this nor do I care as I will not be returning nor recommending My Dog Spot to anyone. The accumulation of issue after issue leads us with no faith in their ability to care for pets. Sadly the whole experience has left us pretty traumatized. read more

We have two dogs that are Havanese mix, that get a full grooming when brought in. One of them has sensitive skin, so we request sensitive/itch shampoo for her. My dog has been groomed by this establishment for 4 years (before the new owners) and everything has been fantastic up until now. Debbie my pups groomer has always paid special attention to him since he's so small and skittish. He always comes home clean and happy with a fresh hair cut. The other groomers are always welcoming and sweet. However the owner has the most unprofessional approach to clients and employees I have ever experienced. When you walk in it seems like her groomers are scared to say anything or do anything that she would feel is out of line when she is around. They keep their heads down trying not to interact with anyone other than work on the current task they have been given. During the most recent visited had the owner approached my mother in the most confrontational manner when bringing my dog in and picking him up. Upon arrival the owner commented on my mother's attire and started to insult her for the choice of football team she represented that day. She yelled at her workers asking if anyone knew about my dogs appointment and my dogs groomer came forward saying he had one scheduled with her today. My mother said nothing and dropped my pup off for a few hours before pick up. While picking him up she acted as if she hadn't seen my mother only 3 hours previous, again yelling at her employees to find my dog. The owner got my dog on his leash and dragged him to the front of the store. My pup only weighs about 5 pounds but you could hear him gagging because of his collar. My mom immediately asked that she release him and his groomer to continue to bring him to her. We let the establishment know he will never be back because of how poorly the owner conducts business. That means they let my dog sit in a cage for 3 1/2 hours and if I hadn't called who knows how long he would be locked up. At any point in that 3 1/2 hours (preferably the 1st hour) if they called I would come pick him up as I understand things happen. Never ever take your dog here! As a supposed professional dog groomer, or anyone who works around animals should know that when a dog is scared (because what dog enjoys getting their nails clipped) that you should say things to them in a comforting tone of voice/pitch and try to make them feel as relaxed as possible. There is one lady there who has clipped my dog's nails multiple times before, and I've never received good vibes from her. She is very aggressive to my dog and barks at her to "pipe down!" and "oh stop!" Normally, I just brush it off because she gets the job done. This time I went in there and she tried to put a muzzle on my dog, which she resisted. While trying to force the muzzle on her, my dog falls off of the grooming table hanging by her neck. At this point, the groomer should have stopped. She continued to try and force the muzzle on my dog and she fell off the table a total of three times. The last time, she is hanging by her neck for what felt like an eternity but was probably around 5 seconds (still a long time to be hanging by your neck). I do not appreciate my dog being hung by a noose like a criminal in the 17th century. The lady finally stopped and told me she couldn't do it because my dog came at her. Well if someone hung me by the neck I most certainly would too! I am appalled that this groomer does not have quick judgement and reasoning skills that this wasn't going to work because my dog was too scared. You do not go in full force trying to man-handle a dog like that, they are only going to resist more because they are scared and their fight-or-flight impulse goes into action. I hope my baby doesn't have any neck trauma. I will be taking her to the vet to check it out. I will never bring my dog here again and tell everyone I know who loves their dogs the same. read more

They SOMEHOW put the small dogs choke chain collar on the big dog and I had a HECK of a time getting it off - thought I might need to cut it off, but just barely managed to get her free. Took them back the third time and asked for Janet; She was very rude to me and admonished me for bringing in a tangled dog and directed the other groomer to send me on my way with both dogs. Don't recommend her even though the staff does. I let the manager know and she said she stands behind her groomers and seems to take their word over what the customer has to say. We brought our pomeranians to My Dog's Spot late last year for the first time and we were amazed. Our dogs are 11 years old and have seen many different groomers but none had ever made their coats looks that great and the dogs didn't want to leave the cozy little sitting area. Somehow the groomers (Janet and not sure who groomed the other) managed to get every bit of undercoat out, give a slight trim and make our dogs look so sweet. We were immediate fans!!! Then we moved to Rocklin and hadn't had a chance to get grooming done..we finally got in last weekend. This time wasn't so great. Not sure what happened but the dogs still had a lot of undercoat - in fact it was flying all around the car as soon as they got in. The trim on the coat was not smooth and they really didn't look much different than when they got dropped off. It was really disappointing to have such a dramatic change in the service provided. There are a lot of groomers in Rocklin but we drove the dogs out to Lincoln (and waited an extra week to get in) just to have the same top-notch experience we had the first time. If you do decide to visit My Dog's Spot be sure to ask for Janet...you might have to wait an extra 3-4 weeks but it will be worth it. We on the other hand are going to take our chances looking for a new groomer that is closer to home. read more
