Oof, boy oh boy. When I walked in Jocelyn immediately had an attitude. Not a single smile or greeting. Just looked my way and looked away with a clearly nasty attitude. She did a questionnaire about my dog and was short and snappy. She didn't try to be nice to my dog in any way and was very cold and off putting. Did not try to comfort her (as every other groomer has ever done before). When I picked my dog up she was shaking and clearly terrified! She cowered for the rest of the day. Other groomers normally give 2-3 hours for grooming. I got a call back for pickup less than an hour from drop off. And I am pretty sure that it was due to them being very aggressive with her. Again, I've never seen her this terrified. I even offered to pay extra for her to take her time. The cut was actually pretty nice but this was, by far, the most unwelcoming grooming experience I have ever had. I wouldn't be surprised if they get closed down for abusing the pets after drop off. read more

I brought my two dogs in for grooming and they wouldn't groom one of them because Jocelyn didn't care for his personality and the fact that he had peed on the floor because he was scared. She was VERY disrespectful towards me and my dogs and I will NOT be going back again. No warm and fuzzies here! read more

My husband and I are new to Auburn. Finding a new groomer for our terrier mix was NOT something I was looking forward to as our dog tends to be very nervous. Best dog groomer I've ever had. Hands down. This couple are a fabulous team. Jocelyn is an animal whisperer and her husband is the people person. My little Pekingese is a total mama's boy who hates being parted from me. He was always so happy to go to Jocelyn's! And whether I asked for a Lion cut in summer or just an overall trimming for other seasons it was always beautifully done. We moved out of state a few years ago and he's been to two other groomers who cost more and who's work was no where CLOSE to what we got at Jocelyn's. I have been taking my German Shepherd to Jocelyn and Brian ever since I adopted her. She was very afraid of the blowers and they slowly and quietly took their time working with her so she understood there was nothing scary about getting groomed and especially being blown out. Not good. I wouldn't go here. They called me and told me to pick up my dog because she was crying to much. I could hear my dog yelping in the back round. She was making a sound ive never heard her make. I think they were impatient and unkind with her and she could sense that. Would not recommend this place. read more

Jocelyn is fantastic! We've been coming here for years and will never go anywhere else. We noticed Jocelyn's business after driving home one day when my family lived in Auburn. Our dogs were due for a nail trim so we contacted her to learn about the prices. Very affordable! All you have to do is give her a call and she'll tell you the best times to do a quick drop in for nails. I've never used her for grooming purposes because my dogs are smooth dachshunds who do not ever require a haircut. Since my family has moved farther into the mountains, they still make the trek down to Auburn to visit Jocelyn. She is really good with all temperaments of dogs and can help the skittish one or the bold one. One of my dachshunds waltzes into the place like he owns it and is super excited to smell everything. I really like that she lets us hold our dogs while cutting their nails rather than placing them somewhere else. Go to Jocelyn! She's fantastic! read more

We moved up here from the south bay 7 years ago. We hated leaving our groomer and we had a difficult time finding one that we liked. We were so happy to find Jocelyn's! We've been going to them for at least 5 years now. Our two little dogs enjoy going there and we love the cut Jocelyn gives them. We are very picky when it comes to our dogs getting groomed. I took my rescue golden retriever to Jocelyn's for around three years! A few months ago they asked us to stop bringing him there, because he is old and has bad arthritis, so he can't jump on the table. Aren't these people supposed to be dog lovers?!? Fortunately I discovered Kat Tails Pet Grooming in Newcastle. They are GREAT with elderly dogs! Not only do they groom him on the floor, they let him lay on the floor and rolled him over when he got his summer cut, so he wouldn't have to stand the whole time. Good riddance Jocelyn! read more

I took my miniature poodle in to be groomed and was called about 10 minutes later to come pick him up. I have taken him to at least 4 other groomers over the years and have never had that experience. He can be snippy and I will admit that but when I walked in I didn't get a good vibe and I am sure he picked that up from me. I think if you are in this business you should be able to deal with all types of dog personalities and if nothing else bribe them with treats. I had been a customer of Jocelyn's since they opened their doors about 7 or 8 years ago. They've always done a fabulous grooming job and my dogs were always happy to go there. But since they've gotten busier they become rude and impatient with their customers. Like it's a privilege for me to do business with them. I had a standing appointment every three weeks for years. After being injured in a car accident in 2114 I had to Reschedule a few times when I couldn't get there. Back in May I missed my appointment without cancelling because I was taken to the ER in an ambulance and hospitalized for three days. I called to reschedule when I got home and I was told they no longer wanted my business because it cost them $45 when I didn't show up. I understand that a business needs to count on customers showing up but doesn't a business also owe loyalty back to it's loyal customers. Their excuse was that I had missed 4 appointments over the years. Throwing customers away is just bad business read more

My 93 year old mother in law took her dog in for grooming. She's been a regular customer for a few years. When she came back to pick up the dog he was licking his leg as though it was bothering him and Jocelyn was clearly upset. Also the grooming was not done as requested - he went in for a trim and was completely shaved down. Jocelyn told my mother in law that she should have her dog put down because she claimed he nipped her. Admittedly the dog does not enjoy being groomed, but he has never nipped before so I would be very surprised if the "nip" was not a result of whatever was bothering his leg - which happened at the groomer. Whatever the case, what kind of groomer would tell a customer to put her dog down? I wish I could give zero stars. read more

The review by Teri C is so wrong! The red flag is dogs do not get human scabies. Animals do not spread human scabies. Pets can become infested with a different kind of scabies mite that does not survive or reproduce on humans but causes "mange" in animals. If an animal with "mange" has close contact with a person, the animal mite can get under the person's skin and cause temporary itching and skin irritation. However, the animal mite cannot reproduce on a person and will die on its own in a couple of days. Although the person does not need to be treated, the animal should be treated because its mites can continue to burrow into the person's skin and cause symptoms until the animal has been treated successfully. Today I took my 10lb Yorkipoo to be groomed at Jocelyn's Foothills Grooming. I explained that I could stay there with him until she was ready for him. I was told it wouldn't matter if I was there or not since it would not make a difference. There were dogs there that were not barking at the time. I left for the grocery store and began shopping. My phone rang and Jocelyn told me to come and pick up my 1 year old puppy because he was barking. When I got there he was barking because he was in a cage. She had given him a bath and put him back in a cage. Groomers know that Yorkies bark so if she is uncomfortable grooming small dogs DON"T MAKE APPOINTMENTS FOR SMALL DOGS! Jocelyn seemed to be under a great deal of stress when I arrived as was my puppy. She brought my puppy out and he was wet from head to toe. The shocked look on my face made no difference to her. She said "Have a nice Day" and turned to go back in the grooming room. My puppy sleeps in a comfortable kennel but it is not a cage and I expect he was frightened.Please stay away from there if you have Yorkies or small poodles read more

I like Joselyn's, mostly because they are cheaper than PetCo by a long shot. I also like to support local businesses. My dogs did really well here the first few months I took them, and then they started to shake in the car when they saw the driveway we where pulling into and then they starting refusing to get out of the car. The owners are nice, if not over-worked and sometimes on edge (I am not sure I've ever seen Joselyn smile making me wonder how much she actually enjoys her job). Generally, when you call to make an appointment you leave a message and Brian has always gotten back to me. I am not sure what to think about the origin of my dogs fear but respect it and have started using a different groomer. read more

I have been going to Jocelyn's becuz of proximity to my home. My first clue to stay away should have been the over booking. Dogs in cages everywhere, fur flying around the floor, and the frazzled demeanor of Jocelyn and her husband. I really knew that implements were not being cleaned or cages cleaned in between clients. My dogs always still stunk when I picked them up, but as I was most concerned about managing their long hair, I ignored red flags. My 2 dogs are small breed, shut ins, they go nowhere besides Jocelyn's and their vet. They come in contact with no other pets, period. Our last trip to Jocelyn's, we got a bonus, SCABIES!! It rapidly spread from my dogs, to all over my home to me. For those that do not know, these parasites burrow and lay eggs under the skin and are harder and waaaaay more expensive to get rid of than lice. I have spent more than $800 so far and I still have to do another treatment to the tune of an additional $125. I will continue spraying my home, my vehicle and do lice treatments til there are no signs left. I imagine it will be well over $1000 when all is said and done. My call to Jocelyn went unreturned. Great business practice. This tells me she already knew and did not make any phone calls to her clients. My Vet has written me a letter and urged me to take it to small claims. She is insistent, as scabies are MOST often spread by groomers not using cleanliness and sterilization practices. So, think about this next time you choose a groomer. At least the big guys, for customer service and business practice will call you back and anti-up what they owe. Yup, I PAID a groomer to infest my dogs with scabies. How stupid do I feel that I ignored the signs? read more
