    Mixed Feteer $20...Recommended! Get this!
    Andie E.

In a neighborhood full of Egyptian restaurant, Cairo Feteer got my attention since they have many unusual dishes that some of the other restaurants don't have. We were looking forward to trying these dishes; not just the delicious Feteer. We chose the below menu items to try, and honestly, we were kind of disappointed. Kudos to our server, who is actually from Tunisia! She was so kind and helpful, patient and accommodating to my group of 8. She even put on a movie for us to watch! Dinner Theater Egyptian Style! Hahaha The movie was...Wayne's World!!! How hysterical is that?! Talk about nostalgia. Ok, onto the food...here is our selected Menu; shared by 4 ppl: - Koshary ($15): This is the Nat'l dish of Egypt; made with rice, pasta, onions & garlic. It came with red hot sauce and Italian salad dressing on the side. We opted not to use these sauces since they didn't seem appealing nor authentic. Well...maybe we should have used the sauces, because the dish was very bland. Interesting to try since it's the Nat'l dish, but not a fave item. - Mombar ($12/4pcs): these are homemade rice & meat sausages. This was just ok but was more rice than meat, and lacking in flavor. - Hawawshi w.Basturma ($18): this item was actually discontinued but they made it for us anyway. Thank you for making this for us, but there was probably a reason this dish was discontinued...we found it lacking in flavor and depth. Just boring. Not recommended. - Mixed Feteer ($20): Best item of the night! Just delicious! Get this! - Om Ali ($12): **note: we thought the Om Ali was a dessert Feteer since it was listed under the "Dessert" category, along with all the other Feteer desserts but it was NOT a Feteer! (It was the only dessert which was not a Feteer). It was more like a very liquid-y bread pudding, made of coconut, raisins, nuts, hot milk, and cream. This was my group's least fave item. Weird consistency, and the bread was more like tortilla strips than a bread. Picture tortilla strips in milk ... Meh, skip this, and get an actual dessert Feteer! I would return for the Feteer, and maybe try other interesting dishes. But honestly, in a neighborhood full of many other places which also make Feteer, sadly, Cairo Feteer isn't my first choice.

    Molokhia

I ordered GrubHub for the first time from this restaurant. I was really looking forward in eating the Molokhia, which I never got to taste when I visited Egypt. Truthfully, I was a little disappointed when it arrived. I was shocked when I saw the soup came in a 6 oz cup! What I paid which included, Tax, Service Fee, Restaurant 15% fee, and Tip, came to close to $20! I've paid $20 for a large bowl of soup at other restaurants.

Lamb Shank and Molokhia. So tender and delicious

Amazing authentic Egyptian food. Delicious feteer, molokhiya, koshary and my lamb shank was fall off the bone tender. Excellent and attentive service. Looking forward to coming back and trying more

The food was great we loved the food there The service was the best We will come again with the whole family

food was good they gave us more then enough and the portions sizes was enough for me and my friends to share

    Kebda sandwich ( liver )
    Ai N.

We got mombar, liver sandwitch and mix feteer. Mombar was perfectly seasoned and cooked perfect. I am little picky about liver but it was very good and not gamey at all. I wish the bread is little more moist. Feteer was nice crisp, stuffed well and very cheesy! One is enough for two people. Only one guy was working in the store so little self service going on but it's not big deal with this price and very tasty food. Definitely I will come back !

    Delicious grilled kofta.

We came on a Monday night, so it wasn't too crowded, but we're definitely planning to come back on a weekend for the belly dancing and DJ. Our waiter, Moe, was incredibly friendly and really elevated the whole experience. The pita came out super fresh and piping hot, pillowy soft on the inside with a slight crisp on the outside. It paired perfectly with the hummus, which was seasoned just right and topped with a spicy dab that added a nice kick. We ordered the branzino with a Greek salad and the mixed grill with butter rice. Both were excellent. The branzino skin was flavorful and perfectly crispy, and the Greek salad complemented the fish really well. The mixed grill included a lamb chop (and I'm very picky about lamb!), which was cooked perfectly, along with chicken breast and beef kofta, all delicious. We finished with the homemade baklava ice cream, which was amazing. It's made in-house and has pieces of baklava mixed throughout, such a great way to end the meal. Overall, we're so glad we stopped in. Great hospitality, great food, and a really lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Valentine's Day heartbreak. Coming from Vegas fine dining is…read morecompletely different here in NY. Unless it's just the restaurant by itself. Way more negatives than positives throughout this experience. For those that worked Valentine's Day 2026 7pm shift till close wasn't the right team staff... probably except food runner & probably bartender. Negatives No host unless it was just manager spending more time on floor with iPad instead up front like a host usually does. Reservation at 8pm (sat 8:15pm no biggie I guess) Lady (probably Busser) with pony tail worked entire dinner with a super pissed off face. V day menu special with no price on menu or reservation just a $75 x2 deposit for tent table but only took out $75 on check. On 5 course v day menu it took 1st course 2pc oyster 15+ min that was done less than 10 seconds. 2nd course took 1hour which just was 3 pita breads & 3 sauces. Our server (looked liked the only one) avoided our empty table & only came when someone cleared our plates. Pretty sure knowing how we were feeling uncomfortable saying the "kitchen is behind" Food on menu showed "sold out" but having a short menu serving same dishes made things hard to understand if the cooks are making the same dishes made. My partner has a severe allergy but wasn't taking serious. Took down order & mentioned on reservation of allergy BUT WAS STILL GIVING SOMETHING THAT COULD'VE MADE THIS NIGHT TAKEN TO HOSPITAL!.. lucky my partner is a pastry chef in fine dining spotting a huge problem! Shame on that part. The amount of food all together could've have been more than 2lbs, costing over $500. No where on reservation email notes or menu showing $175 per person when I thought it was gonna be the deposit & auto gratuity (20%) with a service like that I feel like that's a steal & a way a server in NYC to make a living overcharging people. Pros Seeing a runner with glasses moving fast the best he can with tight space of serving & getting by Taste of food was as expected (but not $500 worth) I don't usually right reviews like this but if this is considered a fine dining restaurant then something needs to be fixed. Was told this was top romantic restaurant in the city but maybe I came on a terrible shift. Not sure if people got called off or if team was already having a bad day. But it sucks that instead of grubbing down our meals we witness entire staff night with other tables complaining on the meal/service as well. Maybe if I come by myself for 1 meal then maybe I will be satisfied. But on a vday/anniversary night that could've ended worse didn't get anywhere near my expectations. Should've got mediterranean food out on the sidewalk foodcarts instead. I'm sorry but this place needs to get adjusted better.

Melons for dinner, and I want it deep fried…read more.. The Cairo restaurant was known in its past iteration as King Tut's hub, which is this gaudy joint located on the Steinway strip between Broadway and 30th avenue...which I praised many many moons ago for its khoshary and fateer. It changed hands at least three times since...to the point where I am not sure who the owner was, or what they are. So, did any of its formerly good bones make it to this reataurant? Eeeeh, not really. Me and the missus also made the mistake of showing up during Ramadan 2022. For those who are not familiar with how ramadan works in muslim 'hoods, it's a month-long fasting period from sunrise to sunset for those who are physically able, and it's a family/community thing. Either a feast at the local mosque after sundown prayers, or your local eatery will host a joyous meal. A large family will sit down at a restaurant with cups of water (or Vimto) and medjool dates before sundown, and once the timer goes off, you make dua (offer prayer), pass the dates and the drinks around, and then the apps arrive. Then you sit down for a massive meal (usually an all-you-can-eat buffet in most circumstances), and during that time, every seat in nearly every restaurant is filled to the brim with people. Is it rather telling that this place is not all that busy during ramadan, and the table leaving didn't seem to have finished that much food? Well, let's talk about the decor - When this place was Tut's hub it was known for the more "Indiana Jones" like interior, what with sphinxes, pharoah's chairs, waterfall window and all that. At some point the previous owners seemingly piled more stuff on the walls. On my table I have this bas-relief of the goddess Isis where her...bosom were shoved 18 inches onto my shoulder. "hey, free melons for dessert" - my wife was quite the riposte artist. While this is happening someone decided to run the "Egyptian pop" playlist on spotify, except it was so loud that it came out distorted. Ever heard of El Sawareekh's 2020 banger Ekwaty (my brothers)? Yeah, I got some interesting stuff on my Shazam / Apple Music playlist? Normally it sounds just fine in a car stereo or earbuds, but when it's played waaaaaay too loud in a restaurant, the repeated "Ek Qwaaadi" calls came out distorted sounding like "I want it deeeeeeeeeeep fried", and since it was the Zuksh & Shehta Karika remix, it went on waaaay too long - at some point it went from banger to dental drill. So okay, I got tacky concrete boobies taking up my space, and the music is annoying, was there any redeeming features? Well, there's a full service bar and lounge upstairs serving up latin flavors (eeh, during freaking Ramadan?), and they are supposed to serve the Egyptian classics. Let's see, there's khousary, beef tagine, and grilled seafood. It can't be that bad, right? Well, the Khousary was terrible. The chickpeas were undercooked, the pasta is overcooked, the rice was flavorless, the tomato sauce is purely heartburn with not much other flavors to speak of....and I had some good to great khousary in the past. The grilled shrimp with their spicy special sauce was overcooked shrimp with thousand island dressing on the side that had some hot sauce mixed in, and waaaay too much stale tasting fries. The beef tagine tastes like the same tomato sauce from the khousary mixed in with a few pieces of beef grabbed off their grill and barely simmered, served with some plain white rice on the side - it was like a Moroccan Shashouka, except like it came out of a jar. Eeeeh, and somehow that was nearly 100 bucks for this cornucopia of disappointment. Someone once said that it's diffcult to get a table at an Egyptian joint during Ramadan. In this case, I wish that it was impossible. Never again.
