We stayed here three nights and it could have easily turned into three weeks or even three months. The amenities here are enough, the site was level, the utilities all worked great and the people were amazing and Betty is a wonderful host that goes above and beyond that of any RV Park owner could. This park is in the heart of cajun country and there is so much to see and if you're staying here you couldn't ask for a better tour guide to point you in the right direction for anything the area has to offer. The 4:30 PM daily happy hour is a must do - it's a time to enjoy a cocktail with your RV neighbors that's hosted by Betty and filled with laughter and conversation of everyone's adventures with a little cajun music playing in the background I swear a cold beer never tasted so good. Located on the edge of Abbeville it's close to a lot of historic places and great local restaurants and they still do music on the downtown square on Thursday evenings. It's so refreshing to find that this culture still exist and you'll never meet more hospitable people anywhere. We hope to return again and again...

With only 17 full hook-up sites and a wonderful public gathering room with porch, this RV park is outstanding in charm and fun. Every day at 4:30 there is a social get-together BYOB happy hour. Food and Cajun music fill the air and Betty will invite you to play and sing along. Everyone is welcome to add to the music. Betty will meet you on arrival and help you into your site. She'll make sure you have everything you need. The park is close to town and easy walking distance from a Dollar General store and Circle K mini mart. First night enjoyed a nice ribeye for supper at Nott's. a mile up the street heading away from Lake. Before leaving, we had a seafood lunch at the Regatta over the Lake. The Hotel has new owners, but same management and the prior owner, Roberta, visits often. The Hotel has very nice rooms with the usual amenities. The coffee pot is communal, the manager instructs on its use, first guest up starts the brewing. This little town has excellent restaurants, beautiful scenery, great folks, World class birding, decent fishing & hunting. Two large marshland game preserves are nearby. Do bring your boat, as no excursions are regularly available. Large live oaks along the waterfront & in parks give shade for walking or cycling. Tips: Less crowded weekdays, can get a bit rowdy during duck hunting season. Another locally famous Cajun Cafe is a few minutes up the road, at Mermentau, "C'est Bon" Cafe & Seafoods. We couldn't have picked a better day to visit the area, the temperature was perfect with low humidity and no bugs - you must allow yourself plenty of time to soak in the peaceful surroundings and get out of your vehicle to get up close to the wonders of this garden. Besides the beautiful grounds and water structures there are plenty of surprises you'll discover along the way we unfortunately didn't see any alligators or deer today but there were an abundance of birds, a few turtles basking in the sun and lots of squirrels scurrying through the grounds and giant oak trees. This is a beautiful place and just one of the wonders you'll find while exploring Louisiana I've lived in Louisiana for almost half my life and I'm still amazed at the beauty this state has to offer this is just one of the many places that's preserved and protected for generations to enjoy and appreciate...

All in all, for the price, it's still not a bad stop if you stay self-contained, and it's pretty much the only park off I-10 in that area.

If you like or are interested in crawfish, this is a must do trip! We took our son to New Orleans for spring break, and he had one thing on his mind. Crawfish. He wanted to learn about them, see where they lived, catch them, and eat them! We did our homework and there were a few different options, but Crawfish Haven really caught our eye. After deciding on Crawfish Haven, we then realized it was 2.5 hours from our hotel. I was on the fence about going, but my son really wanted to. So, I sucked it up, got a ride for us, and boy am I glad that we did! (Side note, if you need a ride SMB Transportation was awesome.) Upon arriving we met Barry. He is an absolute gem. He was informative, fun, easy going, and knows his mud bugs! He gave us a lesson on crawfish and a history of the property and then we hopped in the boat and got ready to harvest! He showed us how to work the traps and we emptied 50 traps and caught over 30 pounds! It was the highlight of our vacation! As our crawfish were cooking, he gave us a neat tour of the property. He really has a great sense of respect and history for the land he is on. And last but not least, we ate! He gave us as much as we could fit in our bellies and it was THE BEST, most fresh crawfish I have ever had! Again, this was the coolest part of our entire vacation. I highly recommend making time for this excursion. You won't be disappointed.

The owner, Barry, is very personable and full of information and history. He had a beautifully restored clapboard home on a large piece of property. We came to Crawfish Haven just to spend the night on our way to New Orleans. We didn't realize that if you want Barry will take his guests out to harvest crawfish. He also has grounds for group celebrations and events. We enjoyed our time with Barry and another couple staying there from Austria. In the morning before we left, we had a wonderful crawfish omelette, boudin, potatoes and biscuit. This experience will be a highlight of our trip. I definitely recommend Crawfish Haven to anyone looking for a B&B that is historic and out of the oridinary.

I need to go…read more Anyway, I did not take a tour of Conrad Rice Mill or anything like that, I just love their Konriko brand products and the customer service that comes with them. Specifically, their All-Purpose Jalapeno Seasoning. It is a really good seasoning and not too salty, but nice and jalapeno-y. I typically buy it from Amazon in a three pack. On my most recent delivery one of the cans was damaged. The bottom had separated from the can itself. Amazon put me in touch with Konriko (Conrad Rice). I sent an e-mail requesting a replacement can, just one. They got back to me within a day. Requested my name and address. I responded with the info, and within a few days a package arrived in the mail. They re-sent the entire 3-pack. It wasn't from Amazon it came from the Conrad Rice Mill Store in New Iberia. Conrad is rad!
