The decor is a mix of Wisconsin corner tavern and supper club with a splatter of local team pennants mixed in with some random patterns. It works, you seem to have your own little compartment, so to speak. If you try to see it all, you go blind. The staff is wonderful and friendly and I always try to sit where I can watch the cooking. They cook on an open grill with gas and it is fun to see your dinner getting prepared. The grill is next to the oyster shucking bench. One guy shucks and guy cooks. If you go, make sure you order the Cajun oysters that they cook on the grill. They are on the half sheel, with some seasoning--OMG are they good. I usually eat a dozen in about 90 seconds and I am trying to take my time. This last trip -Halloween night-- I ordered 1/2 dozen and the waitress asked what was a wrong with me? You know that won;t work, she said, get the dozen. I did and she was right..Yum. Their dozen is 13 to 15 oysters. I watched as the oysters were cooking and was actually drooling this last visit. The taste just lingers in my body. I could go on, but it is a great restaurant to eat and chat, the cook loves to talk college football, he is big Alabama supporter. The only down side, is they are only open Wed thru Saturday. But, if you can make a living by working 4 days a week, more power to you.

This is the closest I have gotten to what it tastes like for crawfish and for other seafood selections from my hometown.

The food is pretty decent , a four and a half mostly but everything else has gone down in my opinion. The place was so very loud this time that we could barely hear friends sitting right across from you. Besides the noise, the service was pretty bad. Took drink orders right away but we had been there almost 30 minutes and had to beg to get orders taken. Then at the end, waitress disappeared. We finally had to pay up at the bar. Really 20 people should have had a dedicated waiter or at least one not so busy! Last thing was I thought the whole restaurant needs a deep cleaning, from floors, menus, rest rooms to tables. Just not pristine. And required 20% tip for groups was not earned! Highlight was shrimp and grits for $13.99 was delish and hubby enjoyed Shrimp Alfredo. Waiter charged hubby $4,99 for a beer when menu clearly had price at $3,99! Only a dollar but just not great service.

They have a great rapport with customers. They also know how to cook a heck of a meal. The sausage has incredible flavor and is so smokey. Makes a great poboy. No shortcuts, no watered-down versions. Just straight, legit flavor. The owners are from Metairie, right off the north side of Lake Pontchartrain, and it shows in everything they put out. They've got both cooked and live crawfish, which matters if you actually know what a proper boil looks like. I have zero connection to this place. Found it by accident. I'll be back regularly. Cajun food sits just behind Korean for me, and this hit that nerve hard. Took me straight back to Lafourche Parish and my stepmother's cooking. That kind of food sticks with you. And yeah, it's in a gas station. Ignore that. If you know anything about New Orleans, some of the best po'boys you'll ever eat come out of spots just like that. Bottom line. This place isn't a novelty. It's a find.
