First time in. Decided to try lunch. There are lunch specials. We are not fans of pho per se, but we do enjoy a good seafood boil. The boils are the way to go. You can choose from a wide variety of seafood such as shrimp, mussels, lobster, snow crab etc. once you choose your seafood that you select your flavoring. Choices are Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic butter, or a mix of all three. Lastly, choose your spice level (mild, medium, hot, etc). We both selected the snow crab and snow boil with Cajun seasoning and mild spice. The boils also come with corn, potatoes and a hard boiled egg. Never seen the egg in a boil before. Everything comes out in a big plastic bag in a steel pan. Dump the contents out and prepare to dig in. Let me say that this is not the place to go out all dressed up. The boils are very messy. They give you an apron and plastic gloves, but still a mess. It was delicious. We also got a couple sides of hush puppies which were very tasty as well. Good portions. Oh boy, what a hidden gem! My wife chose this place for dinner because it had 'cajun' and 'pho' in the name (LOL) - two of our favorite cuisines. I was skeptical initially but boy was I wrong. We had a bunch of things - the Egg Fried Rice, Pork Dumplings, Rice Paper Roll, the Cajun Shrimp boil with corn and a Seafood pancake. Everything was delicious. If I have to nitpick, I'll say the corn wasn't that fresh - and I LOVE corn so that was a minor dampener in an otherwise perfect dinner. A big shout to our server, Leroy. Chose cajun hot. I was not expecting the puffy plastic bag it arrived in! The server was very friendly when I said it was my first visit, explained to me how the bib and gloves worked. I have enough Maryland chops to handle the crab legs. The spice level was just right. It was not too hot and I could probably handle extra hot, but have learned that when it comes to spice level, it's best to start on the mildly hot side and kick it up from there rather than just dive in to a big number because there's no telling how hot the latter might be. I started with the fried spring rolls and had the rare steak pho for an entree. The spring rolls were crispy and fresh, with a tasty sauce as well. I also enjoyed my pho and had plenty for leftovers. The broth had a great flavor, and there was a good amount of noodle, veggies, and meat. I appreciate that there is a ton to choose from on the menu, whether you're in the mood for a seafood boil or pho. My mom got the lunch crawfish boil bag, Cajun flavor, medium heat. She's from Louisiana and said the spice level was good. I thought it was on the upper level of medium so spice lovers would be good with medium and above. We both feel like it was QUITE the authentic tic Cajun flavor we expected but the flavor was delicious anyway. Buttery and garlicky and the crawfish were fresh and not fishy at all. I had the pleasure of being served by a wonderful lady at the Cajun Crab. She was very helpful when making my order and gave extra attention to my special requests and she offered several suggestions. The restaurant is very spacious, clean and nicely decorated in the nautical decor. My order was to-go and I particularly appreciated the way that they individually packed everything securely so that I could combine at home for myself. I ordered the grilled porkchop plate and it was very tender and very tasty. Additionally, I also ordered the Rice paper rolls that were made with fresh vegetable shrimp and pork with a spicy fish sauce on the side. I love the simple, fresh and healthy treat and I thought it was a great accent to the rest of my meal. My favorite of this order was the #7. Bun Bo Hue - (no fish cake) Beef brisket, pork and lot of fixings to create the total Pho experience. I can't find my photos!! It could be that my girlfriend and I were just so excited to try this for her birthday lunch that we just dove in to our shrimp and crab boil bags with gusto! While these were decent, the pho and Vietnamese pancake failed to impress :( Pho is one of my favorite go to foods, and my nana is Vietnamese and was excited to try the pancake because she hadn't had one in a while, but we were both left with the feeling of mediocrity. I understand that preparing food is a lot of work, so I am grateful for the meal despite us being impressed. The pho didn't have enough flavor and was simply not hot enough. Usually we love this place but we went later this time about 7:30 this time. The boils we got were over cooked and the crab was mushy. For spending $50+ the food wasn't worth it. On top of that my sister got food with chicken and the chicken was pink and slimy. They had told her do to policy change she had to pay for the food regardless if they threw it away of not. They offered to get her something different but couldn't exchange so she'd have to pay for the food on top of the raw/"boiled" chicken. Not a great experience. Recommend not going late. They came back multiple times to check on me during my meal. It was a normal sized bowl of noodles (which is slightly too little for me haha) but still delicious. The noodles were slightly too chewy in the beginning but as they sat in the broth, they softened to the ideal texture. The broth was slightly sweeter and oilier than what I would've liked but was still a cohesive flavor medium with the noodles. It came with sliced brisket, fish cake, and intestines (chewy little bits) topped with a small pile of bean sprouts for a crisp crunch. What an amazing meal. Although some would think our wait seemed excessive, it was worth the wait. The dining room was full and there were only two servers, yet they were kind, helpful and so friendly!!! Ira was our server and he was the best.
