So excited to try this place and really happy! The Cat 5 Hurricane has all my favorite rums. Fried green tomatoes never tasted so good. And the catfish was perfection. Next time I come on a Wednesday I'll sign up for karaoke! Lots of fun, good food and refreshing drinks!

Came here with some friends who swore the food was absolutely delicious and they were absolutely correct. I got the catfish imperial with the blackened catfish and WOW, there was so much seasoning on the catfish that I hardly recognized it was a fish. It was perfectly seasoned and the rice complemented it very well. It also came with crawfish etouffee and my goodness, this elevated the dish to a whole other level. It was creamy and savory, and when you combine the etouffee with a piece of the catfish over rice, you get the PERFECT bite. The service was amazing and all the staff were friendly and attentive. The ambiance of the restaurant took me back to NOLA and I've never even been there! Needless to say, this is a must-visit restaurant if you love anything Cajun.

Really cool interior! With a stage for occasional entertainment when they put on shows. The menu has a lot of options, but definitely skewed to the heavier/fried side. It would probably be hard to eat here, if you're trying to be healthy, since you'd want all the dense and hearty dishes! We had seafood jambalaya, the chicken sandwich and a shrimp po boy. All were delicious, and I would recommend. Huge portions too. Staff were attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Never had empty water! Would come back!

    3 lbs of yummy crawfish!

Great time last night eating some delicious crawfish at Cajun Soul. It was busy but we were able to be seated at the bar where Michele really took care of us. Lots of draft beer selections! Our food came out about 15 min after we ordered it allowing us to relax and have a few sips. We ordered the 3lbs of crawfish with collards and red beans/rice. Everything was reasonably priced with ample servings. We shall return!

Yum-my is all I have to say about this place. If you are in the mood from some true southern cuisine, give Chef Kenya's spot a shot. I ordered the fried catfish plate and it was just like grandma used to make. The Mac and cheese needs to have its own shout out. Shoot. It needs its own Instagram page. The Mac and cheese if theee best! It had the cheese pull and all. My daughter would not keep her fork off of my cornbread. It was soft and not too crumbly with just the right amount of sweetness. Everyone at the table declared 10/10 for their dishes--fried chicken sandwich and the voodoo burger (spicy!). Good luck decided on what to order. I'm already thinking about what will be on my next plate. We came on a Sunday and it was not too busy, but it was at a weird time-2 pm. There were not a lot of staff present, but our server did his best managing the bar and the tables. Our drinks were refilled and our food didn't take too long to come out. I hope to return soon!

Amazing!! Went here for dinner on a Friday evening and it we were seated immediately. I ordered their signature margarita, which was delicious and strong but not overpowering. My friend had the sangria and said it was very tasty. We both ended up getting the catfish imperial with a side of collard greens. It was DELICIOUS! Very well seasoned but not too salty. The portion size was pretty large. I also ordered a Cajun smash burger to go for my husband, and he loved it. The food did not disappoint. The service was also great. Our server was very attentive and offered great feedback on the food, drinks, and the restaurant. I would highly recommend this place and definitely will be returning to try more.

This place was a delight, the food was totally delicious along with a smooth New Orleans type vibe very clean, relaxing.

This place was awesome, a delight. Service was on point A1. The food was definitely delicious, the drinks were top tier, to top that off the 20min conversation with the manger was quite interesting, very personable. Needless to say the vibe was right. New Orleans vibe with a clean twist.

Cajun Soul Bistro & Bar 333 King Street Cocoa, FL 32922 5 Star ***New Brevard County Number 1*** When Lady Luck smiles upon you, your life is bright and shiny. Well, I have to say she was beaming at me on Sunday. Cajun Soul Bistro & Bar came up in my random name generator, which happens to be Soul Food Sunday here. Let's just say we've got a new number 1 in the county. This place has been open for about a year and a half, according to my EIC. I had him call to get their back story. While neither Kenya nor Lance were on site, he did speak with Mika. Mika said she had been with Kenya forever, going back to the food truck days. They still have a food truck and use it to cater events and such. Kenya, from Georgia, brings the Soul and Flavor to the menu, while Lance, from Louisiana, adds the Cajun and Heat. Only in America! In the words of Yakov Smirnoff, "What a country!" Manny was my waiter today and he was adequate. He performed his duty with professionalism and slightly above average competency. I asked Manny for some Buttermilk Fried Chicken, one Chitterlings Dinner, a Meatloaf Dinner and some Banana Pudding to round out my incursion into Cajun Soul Bistro & Bar's menu. The day chef was on top of his game as not only was our food out in no time, but take a peep at those pics! The food was plated with care, made with love and served with a goodly portion. Not what it would have been 5 years ago, but bigger than your average "shrinkflation" serving you get these days. I eagerly wrapped my mits around a piece of fried fowl and ripped off a nice-sized chunk. The chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful, while the batter was obviously applied by hand and just as succulent as the meat. How did they do this? The chicken is marinated in a Buttermilk brine. Yes, you read that right. A Buttermilk brine. Day-um, Kenya! Brilliant!! My chosen sides of Mac & Cheese, Corn bread and Butter beans were on par with the Chicken. The whole thing was a dance of joy on the palate and I was in Southern Heaven. Forcing myself to move on, I took a cautious taste of the Chitterlings Dinner. I always order this when given the opportunity in a place that serves Soul Food, as it is a disgusting food item and MUST be prepared properly even to be edible, let alone scrumptious. Today, 40 years after my first taste of this Soul Food staple, I found the embodiment of Chitin perfection. Holy Wilbur, Charlotte! I done died and went to Soul Food Heaven. Un. Real. Once again, I had to force myself to move on as I had a job to do and if I didn't stop "sampling" the chitlins I wouldn't have room for the Meatloaf and Nana' Pudding. Speaking of the Meatloaf, one bite in and I was in love. It was dense in texture and complex in flavor. The side of Cajun Yams were banging. These were also the BEST collard greens I've ever had. The Candied yams were flawless and the Banana Pudding so freakin' addictive I wanted to buy the whole tray and take it home. The Big Boy says, " When the worst thing you can say about a place is that they have above average (not spectacular) service, you have a grand slam home run and we have a new Brevard County Number One. Go. Go now."

The gravy was OK, but was separating a little/ runny and was extremely hot. so overall, I would give my food like a 3.75/5. we shared food and my wife echoed these sentiments. my wifes meal. first, I will only say that I didn't feel like you got very much portion wise for her protein, maybe we are a little spoiled as there is a Soulfood restaurant closer to where we live where the price is about the same but you get a lot more meat. however, flavor is king and... flavor of the oxtails here was lacking. my wife felt they were underseasoned. the rice with them was... rice, didn't really pick up any of the meetings from the broth/marrow of the oxtail bones. her mac & cheese was quite quite good, I ended up eating most of it. The collard greens were probably the worst thing we ate, no flavor at all, even after adding hot sauce. Normally my wife loves collard greens and I don't eat much, but she was more than happy to let me have as much of them as I wanted, but after a couple of bites, I stopped. overall, I would rate the food she ordered as 2.5/5. between our meals, one iced tea and tip it was $50. Again, the service was very good. My food was pretty good. My wife's food underwhelming. overall, Respectfully, we're not from the area so our odds of returning were not high anyway, but there was nothing else would really draw us back if we were to return to the area. my final note would be, they were not very busy, but it seemed like most of the customers where we could tell what they ordered had ordered the catfish so that made be indicative of something we or someone else might want to order on a future visit.

The first letter of the husband an wife names. My expectations were high, and they should have been based on the reviews. This is not a standalone location as the are other businesses within the same building. You won't see P&D on the exterior signage but you will see "Soul Food Kitchen" A la carte buffet style food served. I like this so I could see what I'm ordering. Which is way I should have not purchased the Mac&cheese. Macaroni noodles and shredded cheese melted within. A serious faux pas for macaroni and cheese. I observed how many customers appeared to be regulars, and several people were ordering additional food to take home. I ordered two full meals. The main dishes are served with cornbread dressing on the savory side or rice. One suggestion for P&D would be to offer a brown gravy option alongside that is not meat-based specifically for the dressing. The highlights for me were the yams, fried fish, and pork chop and red velvet cake. Those dishes were well seasoned & well-prepared. Without being critical of the other side dishes this is what I would say: Sharing a few side dishes with your group before committing to larger portions. If you're a singleton stick to yellow rice, yams, and beans. While some food choices did not meet my palate, I can understand why this place has a loyal following. The welcoming familial atmosphere, location, and comfort food are sometimes the basics of what people need to get through the day. On the Sunday afternoon I visited they were offering ox tail and served many soul food favorites. They had so many good options I honestly wanted to try it all. I settled on the baked chicken lunch. BBQ chicken was a daily special and they allowed me to get half baked and half BBQ. The chicken was moist and the seasoning was tasty. I really like that the daily specials have two sizes, lunch and dinner, to fit your appetite. For sides I chose the fried okra. These crisp bites had just the right amount of seasoning so they were not all texture. Okra was the star of my plate. I also got the mac n' cheese. It was a tough decision because I also wanted to try the cabbage, green beans or northern beans sides. I would go back for the okra alone. My meal came with a slice of home made cornbread. They had two of my favorite desserts. Banana pudding and peach cobbler so I tried both. The banana pudding with the Nilla wafers and pieces of banana was perfect without any fake banana flavor. The peach cobbler was the best I have had in a long time. My cobbler was not too sweet and just full of peaches. There was no skimping on the fruit and the ratio of peaches to cake was 3 to 2. Cotton's Kitchen decor reminds me of a diner but the clean white, black and red dining room is anything but old. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You order at a counter and they bring your food to the table. The staff was really attentive and checked back frequently to see if I needed anything. They offer daily specials, sides and featured items. I noticed quite a few customers ordering family sized meals to go. They had a lot of regular customers they had a relationship with and overall the vibe was vibing. There is a small parking lot and on street parking as well. The restaurant is about 2 blocks from Leesburg's Venetian Park which might be a good way to walk off the calories. I went to a show at Melon Patch Players less than a half mile away. I can't wait to try the smothered pork chops or just a plate full of sides.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Apparently, the Yelp Skynet a.k.a. the AI that green or red flags reviews, doesn't like the actual name of this pub despite the fact it is the pub's name. Ergo, I will use the abbreviation VI for the remainder of this review. Besides that, you really can't go wrong going to any of the pubs in Historic Cocoa Village. VI is one of the pubs on the eastern side of the Village, in between the famous Fat Donkey's Ice Cream and the furthest east pub in the village, Ryan's. Appearance-wise, the outside fits primarily with the building, but there are some minute details that give it its own personality, primarily around its name. There is also a section of the road and sidewalk that have been garrisoned for VI as outdoor seating and games such as bean bag toss. Indoors, it is definitely your kinda pub that many of the patrons are friends. The right side (East) have long tables with many pub and drinking games such as Hook & Ring and Shut The Box. There is a bookshelf filled to the brim with board games in case patrons prefer traditional or childhood classics. The left side (West) is the "Patio," a room that is decorated by numerous plants, neon lighting, widker and a black-and-white checkerboard floor. Finally, the middle of the pub is the actual bar, in the form of an L-shape serving a nice arrangement of beers from many breweries, cideries, distilleries, and meaderies across the United States. I had the Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale by Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. Other beer selections I would recommend include the Pineapple Cider by the famous Carib Brewing Co. and the Mango Cart by Golden Road Brewing. Personal note on the latter: Mango Carts, well for me, only taste good when straight from the tap. Cans are not good. And the food, it is minimal, but boy does VI know how to tug at my heartstrings as everything they have features, or could feature, cheese. They have pretzels with cheese, pickles with cheese, and my personal favorite, grilled cheese sandwiches. And for the more sophisticated patron, they have numerous choices in charcuterie boards, too. I will also state the drink prices are a bit on the high side compared to some other places I been to. And there are two restrooms that are single-serving and gender-specific. I don't believe the latter has to be gender-specific because they are single-serving. The barn doors are an interesting choice because they are not very good at blocking sound. I guess that is why VI blasts the music so nobody can hear the flatulence. Speaking of music, VI does have a small corner stage for small acts, possibly singular, to perform. Unless there is a pull-out large stage for outdoor performances, I don't see big bands, per se in higher number of members, performing here unless they can all jam in that tight-spaced stage. Ultimately, I am going to give VI three-out-of-five stars for this review. They are a solid pub that has all the fixin's of a good bar to go to. Maybe it is safe to say they really don't stand out too much, especially amongst the more unique bars in Historic Cocoa Village. But still, a good place to have a drink with friends with that "Everybody knows your name" kinda vibe.
