Food Made With Love I'm visiting from out the state and the only food I desired was southern cooking. There were a few choices on Yelp and Google but I selected P&D. The first letter of the husband an wife names. My expectations were high, and they should have been based on the reviews. This is not a standalone location as the are other businesses within the same building. You won't see P&D on the exterior signage but you will see "Soul Food Kitchen" A la carte buffet style food served. I like this so I could see what I'm ordering. Which is way I should have not purchased the Mac&cheese. Macaroni noodles and shredded cheese melted within. A serious faux pas for macaroni and cheese. I observed how many customers appeared to be regulars, and several people were ordering additional food to take home. I ordered two full meals. The main dishes are served with cornbread dressing on the savory side or rice. One suggestion for P&D would be to offer a brown gravy option alongside that is not meat-based specifically for the dressing. The highlights for me were the yams, fried fish, and pork chop and red velvet cake. Those dishes were well seasoned & well-prepared. Without being critical of the other side dishes this is what I would say: Sharing a few side dishes with your group before committing to larger portions. If you're a singleton stick to yellow rice, yams, and beans. While some food choices did not meet my palate, I can understand why this place has a loyal following. The welcoming familial atmosphere, location, and comfort food are sometimes the basics of what people need to get through the day. I started my search for soul food in this town years ago and thank god there's so many spots. P&D has become a regular go-to for me with good reason. The food is on point. One of the best things is that the majority of the food is ready and waiting when you enter. You'll have to wait for fried options as it's done when you order but it's always worth the wait. As I'm on my quest for who got the best fried chicken in Florida ... I Ordered 2 orders of 3pc fried chicken wings and a side of Mac n Cheese for take out. This place is strictly for pick up n go. The full wings were fried good, but I expected a lil more flavor on the wings. I think what would bring this out a little more is some light seasoning on top of the wings once they come out the oil to drain. The Mac n cheese was ok. It didn't have as much flavor as expected. Which can be easily resolved with some more salt n pepper. It did have a great amount of cheese as you can see from the pic. I'm not sure what type of cheese was used but sharp cheddar cheese may help with adding some of the saltiness which limits having to add regular salt. I'm sure they have a lot of other great options on the menu. But today was strictly about fried chicken and the go to side that go hand n hand with fried chicken. read more

My husband and I ordered carry out from here back in mid May after restaurants had reopened for dining. This is a carry out/ delivery spot, which was perfect for us because we still didn't feel comfortable eating in. All the employees were wearing masks or face shields and there was hand sanitizer at the entrance. We placed our orders and waited for the food- maybe 10- 15 minutes. I got a sweet tea (sooo delicious) and they refilled my drink before I left without me having to ask. I ordered the fried chicken meal and my husband ordered the fried pork chop (large). Most times, I'll call ahead or order delivery. There's usually a line at the food counter, so save yourself some by ordering ahead of you can. Me and my friend decided to come to this restaurant after I went through all the black owned restaurants in the city of Orlando. This is one of the places that if you don't write pay attention when you're driving you just might miss it, so we entered through the front and Because it was my first time I wasn't sure exactly what to order or what I wanted. The person serving my food seemed a bit turned off because it was our first time and we were so confused on what exactly to order or how the process works ex: one meat, 2 sides ect. However I just went ahead and ordered whatever it is on the menu but I saw that I may like. It took them about 5 to 7 minutes to put everything together And have it ready for us, I'm not sure if he was the owner, however the gentleman who would checked us out gave us two bottles of water and thank you so much for service. That was probably the best part Of the trip, you can tell that it was genuine from him and it was from the heart. I told him instead he needed to take himself, he has done a great job so far and the rating speak for itself along with all the other accomplishments that were posted inside of the restaurant. I got home about 10 minutes after to eat the food and wow, I was very impressed. The food was packed with flavor and was very filling. I want to say more or less at eight my entire meal in about 10 minutes but it was worth the wait from driving from the restaurant back to my home. I would definitely come here again, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential to grow, and so far they have proven that they are a force to be reckon with in the soulful area and in the Orlando area as well.
